I got... uh i forgot i was working in my church in our vacation bible school that week and just totally forgot so my apologies i don't like to miss without especially without uh calling and letting someone know but i just skipped my mind thank you commissioner is there any other comments or do we have a motion i do

Just would like to add that I attended the Juneteenth event on June 19th along with Commissioner Lewis. It was a great event, well attended, and I handed out a lot of stuff. Thank you.

commissioner farney i'll rescind i was just clarifying where you comment for exist what you've done and what's going future so yeah it's confusing we we need to i don't know if we can re-label that because it is confusing i think mine explains it a little bit more um because it shows that where i would call for the motion on this item if we do have future events um for future

yeah that would be number nine so updates on external meetings and events i do think though that commissioner melendez's item though is relevant because she attended as on behalf of the commission do we have any other events coming up that commissioners would like to attend or attend as a commissioner give it one more minute all right hearing nothing else we will move on to item number nine do any we can do round robin for this do any commissioners wish to report out on any external meeting conferences or meetings that they've attended you always know i'm going to start with you commissioner farnie i i do have a free

and one might be of interest to the rest of us. On July 9th, the Riverside Neighborhood Partnership offered a free workshop on AI and what's out there, what it can do, and how to access. It was very helpful, and the plan is to do more as a means of just trying to educate the community. So that was interesting. Also, I chose to meet with one of the candidates for city council, and I want to meet with the others to talk about the relationship of the city council with commission, boards and commissions, and to try to just plant the seeds that we could be broader, more robust, and I think there's a win-win there that I would like to move us towards. Finally, on 7-15, the Riverside County Health Coalition was another one that I attended.

Okay, on June 25th, I attended and participated in the Borwell Park Advisory Board Meeting. On July 11th, I participated as a part of the Adrian Dale Carmen Roberts Foundation, a backpack giveaway. There was other sponsors with Park and Rec involved as well. and on July 16th, I attended a Golden Future Senior Expo at Riverside Convention Center, and it had a lot of good information, and I thought that we might have did well to attend that. I didn't hear about it until about a week out on Facebook, but I see that there's another one upcoming, I think at... white park sometime i forgot the date unfortunately i forgot to list it but a lot of good vendors a lot of good information uh it was for uh people 50 and up but i thought i saw others i know i saw others that were below that age in there so but had a lot of good information thank you commissioner nothing to report i share her motion

That was the last I had to say. so if you're planning to attend as yourself and not as a commissioner you can say that item here yes if you were planning to attend on behalf of the commission we're not able to go back to that item right now i'll just be attending as myself but something that might be of interest to others it is called vibes in the park at boardwell park and it is august 15th um just a day of good music fellowship etc games family fun thank you commissioner melendez

I reported already, but it went to Juneteenth and it was really, really, really well attended, a good event, and people were very interested in what is Human Relations Committee. And as a possibility, and this is probably the wrong place again, maybe this is future things, but National Night Out is hosting Fire and police are hosting an event in Hunt Park on October something. So maybe that's long enough in advance. We might want to take a look at it, but it seems like that might be a good place for the commission to be represented.

Yeah, I think if you can bring that to the next month's meeting under the attendance at community events item, I think that's a good place that we'll be able to talk about tabling.

I did get to sit in on a meeting from, I think, Councilman Robillard, Ward 3. Anyway, he was giving a presentation at the Glossy Center. And it was interesting to hear about the plans for the ward and how we have businesses coming in, hiring. They're planning on building affordable housing. He specified that low income is much more low than what we expect. I enjoyed it.

Yes. Resolution number 24310 directs the city manager's office to provide ongoing reporting on federal immigration enforcement activity. Here is the June 2026 update. The city's 311 system did not receive any community reports related to the federal immigration enforcement activity. However, the Riverside Police Department did receive one notification of ICE slash Border Patrol activity within the city. The City Manager's Office will continue to receive updates from RPD, monitor community reports, and provide monthly updates to both the City Council and the Human Relations Commission. Secondly, the City is updating parking access for all Board and Commission members attending meetings such as this one. Effective August 3rd City Hall parking garage badges will be deactivated. Members should park in parking garage six, pull a ticket upon entry and validate it at the machine near the council chamber entrance, which is located towards the back of this facility. Parking lot 34 will remain available, which is the lot located right outside these chambers here, but it is often heavily used by the public. If you do park in these areas, just keep that in mind. However, this commission here starts at 6 p.m., so you should not be impacted. And lastly, at the August Human Relations Committee, we do have two presentations planned, one of them by Housing and Human Services. Our director, Michelle Davis, will be providing that presentation to you all, as well as a presentation by Director Rene.

Alright, moving on to item number 11. Items for future Human Relations Commission consideration. Do we any commissioners request? Oh my goodness, do any of the Commissioners wish to request an item for future consideration? This is where we will add any upcoming board or presentation suggestions or conversations that we want to have as a Commission. I will mention that I talked to Stephanie after the last meeting and I did request if we can start getting all the different departments on rotation coming out to present to us. I did ask her to focus on housing 311 and I think Parks and Rec is one that we haven't had out recently. Those are ones that we've had talked before and that we were able to get a lot of great input on. If there is others that you feel like are a priority to call that out here as well. I was just wondering if it's, I don't recall when the resolution regarding immigration was passed, but maybe if we could have IC4IJ out so they could give us a report on if they've seen a difference in Riverside since that resolution passed.

I see. I know that you would change the form, right? But then this one that we have is blank and I thought last time we had a couple on there. Remember?

So all reports are printed by a different department and I think that was part of the printing. I did go through the packets and I think that's the formatting for some reason didn't print correctly. However, what I can do is send it out to you all via email. The form that I have is filled out, and it does have the ad hoc committee, and I have that one scheduled to come to this commission in September. So that one is scheduled for discussion.

I was just curious. I know that they've cut things from our budget. Do we still have a budget?

There is a budget for staffing the commission, hosting the meetings, and obviously for AV to be able to sustain the meeting, and that's pretty much what's covered under the budget.

I'll ask the question. I'll ask the question, Stephanie, perhaps you can give us the answer and perhaps not. I'm curious, is this how the budget cuts or the lack of any funding to do activities, is that across the board, all commissions, boards and commissions?

So typically, from my experience, boards and commissions do not have discretionary spending funds available. From my understanding, this commission was the only commission who had that additional discretionary allocation. So to answer your question, The budget allocations is budgeted only to be able to host the meetings for all boards and commissions.

I believe that is correct. I can always go back and double check. I can run the report, exactly the budget for this specific commission, and be able to answer your question with 100% confidence.

OK, and then I wonder kind of going back to the item that is on the floor right now, because I want to also be mindful, right? We move past staff updates. I don't know if we can keep asking questions in this form, but maybe for the item on the agenda we could consider some sort of like budget update or like potentially even the budget Commission coming out and presenting on maybe at a high level with the budget priorities are for this year and how it relates to our Commission. I don't know if that's available.

I would have to see if that's within the purview of this commission. To be honest, we could probably show the budget specific to HRC. I don't know that it would be the budget commission.

Okay. That makes sense. And I think that would be to kind of bring back all these discussions back to the item, maybe as an item for future discussion, we can add being able to see what that budget looks like. Yeah. Okay.
