would like to call the order of the Pleasant Grove City Council on this January the 6, 2026 and welcome everyone that has come here. We usually don't have this big of a crowd for this evening and this is a real special event this this evening and we have all our council members present and the majority of our city administrators are also here with us and we welcome all of the public who have joined us here this evening. We'll start out this evening by having a pledge of allegiance by Sergeant Homer after which I will give the opening remarks. Sergeant Homer. and to the for it stands nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Our heavenly father, we're deed grateful this evening to come before thee and the city council meeting. We are so blessed for our community. We ask thee that thou will watch over us and protect us and especially our first responders that uh put their lives on the line for us each and every day. Father, we're so grateful for this community. We ask thy blessings to be with all of our community members,

especially this city council whom our new mayor that they may work together and continue forward in the progress that we're so grateful for the opportunities that we have to better our community and make it a great place to live. We want to move item 9A, which is a a proclamation um regarding honoring Mayor Fugal from it's right now listed as 9A. We want to move that up and do that right after we do the swearing in ceremony. Okay. All right. So, with that noted change, do I have a motion? Mayor, I'll make a motion to approve tonight's meeting agenda following the uh adaptations that uh administrator Darington talked about. We have a motion by Council Member Williams. We're a bunch of criers up here. I want to say thank you to everyone who has come out to this uh this occasion in support of all of us. Uh on behalf of all the council, we'd like to say thank you. Um we appreciate every each and every one of you for the support that we receive on a daily basis, weekly basis. It means a lot and to see this room full of Pleasant Grove citizens means even more to us. Deeply from our heart, we want to say thank you for coming out this night. And so before we move on, Mayor Fugle, I'm going to try and do this without crying as we have a a special little uh proclamation we'd like to to to read. And I think it's okay to go forward, isn't it, Scott? Okay. Mayor Fugle. Tonight, tonight, the city of Pleasant Grove has the honor of recognizing a man who has devoted eight years of his life to serving this community. From January of 2018 through January of 2026, Mayor Guy Fugle served the residents of Pleasant Grove with dedication, integrity, and genuine love for this city. As a lifelong resident, he brought not only leadership but a heart and perspective to the role of mayor. Throughout his tenure, Mayor Fugle worked closely with city council, city staff, you, the residents, and our community partners to guide Pleasant Growth through growth and change while remaining committed to the values and traditions that make our city home. Pleasant Grove service is never the work of one individual. Tonight, we also extend our sincere thanks to Guy's wife, Paula. Is she here tonight?

Okay. Paula, for her support, patience, and encouragement throughout these years of service, her quiet sacrifice, and steady support made this service possible, and we are grateful to her as well. On behalf of the city council and the wonderful citizens of Pleasant Grove, I am proud to proclaim today, January 6th, 2026, as Mayor Guy Fugle appreciation day. Then to express our sincere gratitude for his eight years of service, Mayor Fugle, thank you for answering the call to serve. and to Paula, thank you for sharing your time and your lives with this community. We wish you both the very best in the years ahead. And again, thank you on behalf of all of us. We have a proclamation here before me that proclamation of appreciation recognition honoring Mary Mayor Guy Fugle for eight years of service. And I'd like a motion on that. Uh, Mayor Mayor Jensen, I'd like to make a motion that we approve this proclamation.
