Town Council - Regular Meeting

[cough] We'll reconvene the regular meeting of the town council tonight. Um, this has been a a really good process. It's been a really difficult process and I think um I know I will speak for myself. I've had a lot of sleepless nights and going back and forth and trying to decide what's best for the community of Pinetop Lakeside in our future. Um, either of these candidates would do an outstanding job. I have complete confidence and I thank both of them for applying whether that may be outside of your usual comfort zone. I know it's been a lot of work for both of you. Uh it's been a lot of work for the team and the community that has stepped forward to help us with this decision. Um it's not one that any of this council has taken lightly and we've listened to them the public. We've listened to the panel that we had our employees. It's been a really a great community effort to come up with some scoring and some um metrics to determine who might be the best candidate moving forward. So, at this time, I would like to move to enter into contract negotiations with Christy Salsco to be our next town manager.

We appreciate your time and your energy, and we wish you well. Christie, we have confidence in you and I would like to reiterate, I hope you heard the motion. This is entering into contract negotiations. Um, so we are going to move on to the next item on our agenda, which is another executive session to to direct our town attorney to begin those negotiations. No decision will be firmly made tonight. We have another session scheduled for next week where where that contract itself will be approved. So um we'll move on then to item D4 which is pursuant to ARS 38-431.03 03 A3 and 4. A public upon a public majority vote. The members constituting a quorum may hold an executive session for the following reason. Discussion or consultation for legal advice with the attorney or attorneys. And four is discussion or consultation with the attorneys of the public body in order to consider its position and instruct its attorneys regarding the public body's position regarding contracts that are the subject of negotiation in pending or contemplated litigation or in settlement discussions conducted in order to avoid or resolve litigation. We are going to discuss and provide direction to the town manager regarding town manager contracted negotiations. We will come back in here and adjourn the meeting, but no more votes and no more action will be taken tonight. I would entertain a motion.
