City Council - Regular Meeting

Welcome to Pasco City Council In Focus. I'm Communications Coordinator Alyssa Warner and this is a look at what's on the agenda for the July 6th Pasco City Council meeting. We were scheduled to hold a second public hearing on proposed regulations for essential public facilities, including secure community transition facilities and less restrictive alternative housing. That hearing is likely to be delayed until the July 20th regular meeting as staff prepares actions directed by Council from previous conversations. City Council will be asked to approve regulations for short-term rentals like Airbnb and Vrbo. Some of the regulations discussed at the June 8th workshop meeting included things like mandatory inspections and certain parking standards. If approved, the new rules would take effect on January 1st of 2027. The city council will also consider a resolution that expresses opposition to personal income taxes in Washington state. This was requested by a council member and would basically put Pasco City Council on the record as being against any push to create any local or statewide income taxes. We'll hear an update from the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation about the Pasco Economic Development Project, which is a plan to build a new casino resort in the King City area. And the City Council will be asked to sign off on an agreement related to the realignment of Harris Road, which is a key component to ensuring safer and proper traffic flow in the Broadmoor area, and to getting commitments from developers and commercial tenants to move forward with development.
