Mayor Bab, yes. Thank you, Madam Clerk. Thank you, commissioners. Motion passed by unanimous vote. Next, we'll move to new business. Presentation by the city manager of activities of upcoming events, if any. We do have the Palm Beach County Sheriff Office Report. Good evening, everyone on the council.
City clerk, attorney, mayor. For those that don't know me, my name is Seth Pin. I'm the executive officer for the Glades region and commander of uh city bokeh for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. We're going to be now discussing some of the public service aspects of what we do u on a monthly basis in the meetings. So starting out uh the sheriff's office as far as any activity or any crimes violent crime is down. We were at zero for the last month. The only two upticks that we had in crime were a vehicle or a business burglary and a stolen vehicle. Both of which were very thoroughly investigated and arrests were made in both cases. So overall, our crime is down, which I'm happy to say in this small town. Uh part of our focus with this city is not just good policing, but good community policing, good interaction, good events. Uh our community policing team is second to none. We have our own therapy dogs out here, a boat, a lot of different equipment that we provide to the city to further enhance our community policing efforts as well as our law enforcement. So, just to speak on that, uh, in two weeks, we're actually going to be doing a end end of year school party for Pokei Elementary just as a way to say thanks to the kids, thanks to the school for doing a great job throughout the year. So, we'll bring out our technology trailer, a lot of different uh police equipment such as our helicopter, our boat, and then we'll do a big cookout for the kids. So, we're looking forward to that event. Um throughout the year, we'll be doing some uh school summer camps. Basically, the same thing the deputies assist u with the camps, just ensuring that the kids have a fun time doing very diverse things. I'd also like to add that Deputy Williams, who is our community policing deputy here, does an outstanding job with mentoring our youth, especially our young men, our most potential targets for going down a bad road. Deputy Williams with his team, they do a
great job of of capturing those kids' imaginations and their minds through different programs, whether it be uh just mentoring, reading, playing chess, doing different types of activities to encourage more diverse ways of of growing up than just potentially going down a bad road. So, we're very proud of of Deputy Williams' efforts and as well as Deputy Certain's efforts who has our our therapy doc out here. Um, that's essentially all I have for our report. Is there any questions before I sit?
I just want to make one uh comment just on behalf of the Pokeet City Commission and our city manager and really our entire staff and our entire community. We thank you all for your service. Uh you do a great job. Uh we feel safe in this community. I know we have a reputation in the glaze of having a violent community, but that's really not the case. When you look at the statistics, we're probably one of the safest areas in the county. But again, the participation that you all participate in our commission meeting, our special events, and all the things you do, I know we don't say it often enough, but thank you so much from the bottom of our heart for your services.
Thank you, Mr. Thank you, council.
Next, we'll have the report of the mayor. First of all, I'd like to thank our community for coming out and continue to come out to our city commission meetings uh and for your participation and your guidance and giving us uh suggestions on how we can do a better job in serving our community. I would like to let you know that we are planning on having regularly town hall meetings that you can give more input. I know you're limited to what you're able to say here at the commission meeting, but town hall meetings are open for your opinion and your thoughts and suggestions. So, that's something you can look forward to us having uh really soon. Also want to thank our staff and the community for coming out for National Day of Prayer that was held last week. It was well attended. Uh and I just thank you for your prayers and your thoughts. Uh if anything we need, we need continued prayer in this community for ourself, our family, our community, our leaders and everyone here. So again, thank you so much for doing that. And that's conclude my report this uh month. Now we'll move to the city manager report. You all have a a vanilla folder with information in it as well. There are the first item on the report if is the FDOT Mccclure road project. I know that you all have been asking for the extension on that in writing and so the extension is there. The extension for the Mccclure Road project is to
December 30th, 2027. And so and the the phase 4 um date which did not change is June 30th 2028 to have those completed. And so the staff and I have been meeting with the with FDLT they are working alongside us to provide guidance um and to also they provided a a um list of vendors that they work with as well. So we are we are um working closely with them in the process and they are also guiding us on some of the items. We um have a meeting meeting planned for next week as well. So we continue with the engineers and start meeting with them so that we can get this um this particular project underway. We will be giving you updates along the way. As soon as we complete the project plan showing the time frame that it will take to complete the project at work and it will be broken into different phases. So we won't try to do everything at the same time. We don't want all the roads closed at the same time. The next item on the list and there is a report in that one is the um cemetery bike hole. Um we have two cemetery bike holes. They have both been um out of commission since November 2025. And so when there is need for to dig cemetery holes, we are borrowing um or renting I would say we are renting um bike holes and you have a list on one side it has by date. So you can see the total amount spent monthly on that and the other side is by the different companies that we are renting um from. Um to date, um $25,280 have been spent on digging, um holes at the cemetery. What we have done is looked at, uh we're doing an inventory
as well, but we've looked um at different companies so that we can purchase a bike hole because it is something we desperately need. And so instead of renting, we would rather have our own. We've been working on that since um for the last week and a half. And we have one that it looks very promising. The bico is about $61,000 and they also have lease agreements. And so if we lease it's less than I think it's like $1,500 a month. At the end of that lease we can purchase as well. So we are talking to this particular vendor because it seems more promising and more affordable for us. Any questions on that?
Yes. Can you disclose the name of the vendor if um I don't have the name of the vendor um with me right now but we looked at four or five different vendors and it'll be so I will provide that information to you. We just haven't we have not um completed the the um agreement with them. So I will provide that information to you all though. Okay. Um I have another question too. Um the county has a surplus um inventory. Um have you checked with them to see if they have any available?
They do not have any back codes on the list right now, but we have spoken with them. Um and we are also speaking with them on other equipment that we need and they have agreed to help us however we need it. But right now they don't have any backholes on the on the list. Okay. Thank you. Also, since we're speaking of the cemetery, have you did any uh followup from the complaint from the last commission meeting about the condition of the cemetery? Yes. Just share some of the thoughts and information.
Yes, we have. So, the um public works team has been in the cemetery. They had the entire crew out. We talked about the condition of the cemetery and what was happening there. Um, one of the the issues as well was there were wild hogs in the cemetery and so they were making a mess as well. And so we've gotten that part taken care of and now the public works crew has been in the cemetery. They have the whole crew out there so we can get it back to where it needs to be. And then we're looking at make sure that it is maintained on a regular basis so it doesn't get to the point that it is. Um, now we also talked about um making sure that the um the lawn is is green and is nice and pleasant so people to come and visit their loved ones. So, we're walking working into all of those areas to make sure that we keep the cemetery as nice as possible. Um, and then we will be going out there. They're doing inventory as well from the cemetery standpoint to make sure we have all the tools that we need so that it is easier to maintain as well. Um the next item is the the um the inventory. So the all the city is all of the different departments are doing um inventory of all equipment. We're making lists of all that and we will have a database of all of the equipment. Um, this this effort is is intended to identify city assets, write off nonf functioning equipment and prepare for insurance purposes ahead of the hurricane season as well. So, if we should have a hurricane, at least we have a list and we're getting pictures as well so that we can properly file claims with the insurance company. But that list will help us um with everything that we need. The OIG also requires a inventory and so we found this out after we started reading but we had already started the process. So we are 50% um through the process of
getting the inventory and so when we have that we will share that with you all as well. Um especially those items that need to be um replaced and we're also um creating a process where we do regular maintenance on our equipment so that it lasts longer. Um
I have one question about the um funeral home. Um I I noticed the sheet that we have um just for future until we do get a back hole. I see we have several different companies on here that we're using. Um I guess it's to dig the holes. Some of them they're charging 6,500 6,495. So moving I don't know is that for digging one hole or is that for several holes? It all it all depends on how there's several holes. It all depends on on what the requirement is um for that but you'll see the breakdown there per hole on the itemized list. And
so are we going to look at which companies we're going to decide to use further moving forward for cost effectiveness? We we will. Yes. But if that company is the um black hole is not available for the time that we need it, then we have to go to the to another company. So that's why you have the number of companies that you do that's on here. Thank you.
The um the next is the 2026 27 budget. We started the process. We've gone through we have three more departments to um to review their budget standing with what the current budget is what their needs are for the future as well and then we will be able to properly prepare um the budget for 2026 27. We also received the letter from our auditor um and they are prepared they are ready to prepare the um do the work for the 2020 um five year audit and so we will give them a call tomorrow to let them know available dates. They're asking us for a date. So the finance team is meeting so we know exactly what they did last year and if they're coming to stay for a couple of days or if we're just uploading information. I know we're uploading the information to their to their um site, but I'm not sure if they needed a a location or desk at the city and so we will be meeting tomorrow and discussing those items with them as well.
So that is that is the um the annual audit that you're talking about. Annual audit. Okay.
Correct. That is the annual audit. The um the city contracts are also we've created a spreadsheet of all of the contracts that we have. So we'll we'll have those. we know what they are and now we're preparing to go through each of those looking at which ones we we truly need, which one has expired. Um, and if we need that particular contract again and then we will we will start reviewing them and start preparing for renewing the contract if it's needed. If not, we're making sure we're ensuring that um our current contracts are on time and and we won't let them expire without knowing. Next on the list is the OIG report. Um the O the IG report has been um started as far as the updates that are needed. What the OIG asked for is an update of where we stand on all of the recommendations that they've made. So that part has been completed and we are re reviewing that before we send it over to the city attorney to review. Um some of the major items that have been completed is the credit card um policy u manual has been completed. We're reviewing that as well and also finalizing updates to the purchase order um update to the purchase order policy. Um there are quite a few other items in there with recommendations and so all the recommendations they've asked for we've included in the in those two policies. So we're just going through the list. Um, I placed a call today also to Tallahassee to let them know where we are with the process so it doesn't appear that we are ignoring them, if you will, so they know where we are and then we'll send that information out to them and get a a new date um for them.
May I ask who's who's working or who's completing those those tasks that you have? um the main persons that are completing the task um myself um the consultant I met with her as well to go through the processes to see what she has and then what she's doing is really going back through the ordinance to see what our ordinance say so that we have that information included in the in the reports as well. Um and so everybody else is also chipping in um reviewing the process uh making sure that everything is on point. This is actually what we do, how we do, and then we start incorporating those recommendations from the OIG. We've already made some of those um some of those um processes, the recommendations, included them in the processes, for example, when purchase orders come through, and we've gotten some invoices that did not have purchase orders. And so we sent out information on that to all of the department heads that we will no longer accept any any um purchase orders coming through any invoices coming through without purchase order. And we've gone back as well to ask them to have them explain why and what was the circumstance. Um because that is what's needed when the audit is done. We got dinged a lot on not having the information, not having purchase orders with the invoices and they're coming through after the fact. Um, and then looking at the amounts and making sure the amounts and the taxes and everything else add up. So, we've already started that process. So, as of May, we shouldn't have that problem again. And so, that's what we're going through now. I'm just making sure we have all the all the paperwork and then we'll let um the OG know we included the items that we've included that we've already updated. So, we've included that in the report to them as well. Um the building code ordinance um staff
along with the um city attorney has had um met to review the building code so we can tighten the language up um more and so we need to um meet again to go through that process um so that we can get that com complete as well. Um the accounting submission we've also gone through well the trim report to to there's there's dates that they're requiring that we set those dates in advance and then we send those dates to make sure that we meet our own date requirement which they require as well as as long as we're keeping up with those dates then then we should make then it will ensure that our um accounting process and our budget is on time and completed according to the standards that that has already been set and the some of the potholes have already started to be filled. And one of the one of the um items that we ran into was equipment again. And so the inventory has helped us out a lot in that to make sure that we have the equipment that is needed to complete um the potholes to make sure that they're they're they're being filled properly. And then the other plan is to make sure that once we fill those potholes, they didn't never get back to the state that they're in. As soon as we see it start to crack again, we will start to refill those potholes. So, our roads don't get back in the state that they're currently in. Um there was one incident that um occurred as well on Friday with Jack Brewer Foundation and their food distribution. we received a call that um they were on the marina and they did did not have a permit. So what we did is we prepared a permit since we were told that they were already on the on the marina. We prepared a permit to take to them so that they could have that for the day so that they could continue to service our residents. But when we got
there we realized that they were not Jack was not on the marina. There were lines of individuals. So maybe they had heard that they were coming or they were initially on the schedule but they were not um present. And so what we're doing is trying to get in contact with Jack Bureau so we can make arrangements with them. They know what the process is. If they want to distribute in Pokei then they need to have a permit or contract with the city. So, we were not able to um to get in contact with them today, but we're still reaching out so that we can have that conversation with them before the end of the week. That concludes my report. I have a question.
Thank you, city manager.
Basically, it's just to um make sure that we are getting what we have asked for numerous of times. And I know that you've only been here a short while, but we have asked for a monthly expenditure report and um if you could make sure that we get that going forward, it' be greatly appreciated. Thank you. So, what we're doing now is is reviewing um the finances to ensure that the information is correct. There is one month remaining to be included so that when you receive the report, you have the complete information. What the plan is is to give you a budget versus actual. So, we will give you a um report showing what was approved by the commission, the the budget amount that was approved, the amount that has already been spent, and the amount that's remaining. That way, you all have the information. So, when you're making decisions, you're making informed decisions based on the accurate information. The plan is to give that to you monthly. If you need it every meeting, we will give it to you every meeting as well. I think for
I'm just speaking for myself, but I think monthly would be sufficient. Okay. I mean, I don't want y'all to be doing busy work. I don't Once it's in the in the system, all we need to do is print it out, but monthly should be more than enough. And so, we'll have that to you.
So, I have a question on our stricts and roads. I know we're soon to work on uh Mccclure Road and the phase four of our street projects, but again, we have three major roads and I know we're looking at doing some filling of potholes, but we have to mess in our community that solely sorely need addressing and that's one on up. But you're gone. you're right in front of city hall. That road uh the road on next to it on Clarissa uh need to be done. And the one leading up from Clarissa to the church uh Church of God,
West Street, uh Third Street,
West Third Street. Those roads sorely need uh repairing immediately if possible. And I know our sir tax money can pay for infrastructure improvement. And even if we have to go to the point of borrowing money and trying to uh pay off the uh cost of those roads, I'm just asking that you as a city manager look into that and see what alternative we have to try to complete those particular roads. And there may be some better than that, but I haven't noticed any better than those three. I know some is on the brink of being worse than that, but those I think if we can just do something on those, that would certainly go a long way in trying to improve our infrastructure.
Okay, we did have the first one on there, which is the road on the city hall, was on the list. The other two I did not have on the list, so we will um add those to the list. The other one was um Martin Luther King Drive going to um Barfield right in front of those two houses. That's that's that's really bad. And as well as um Mccclure Road coming down to try to fill some of those potholes so we can get some work done before the actual the resurfacing of the roads starts. Yes. One other thing that goes um that's in conjunction with the maintaining the roads is the um the shoulder of the roads. Yes.
Um a lot of it has been um depleted.
Correct. uh when they pick up the trash. Um and so it's not safe, you know, and if somebody happens to veer off the road in those areas, not only are they going to damage their cars, but could, you know, potentially injure even a pedestrian or someone. Uh but um the other thing is too um we have been getting complaints for some time and I even have one that I've it slipped my mind because I'm all over the place. But um I'm going to provide that information to you too from that person that approached me. Actually they came to my house and um complained about um damage that was done to their car.
Okay. So I'll forward that to you for your um perusal. Okay. Thank you. And we did discuss the shoulder of the roads, especially Mccclure Road. You can see that shoulder is really bad. So, that was one of the main things is making sure you're taking care of the shoulder of the roads. Um, we have to go and and look at the others. Um, some of them we have pictures of already. And so, I think we have pictures of third for sure and and we'll have the others so we can prioritize those and get them done. Yeah. But I think what I'm emphasizing is the fact that um these issues occurred because of the um way they've been picking up the trash. Okay. Because they're, you know,
okay, I'll get those rows from you so we can it's quite a few um areas throughout um the city. So, you know, and it's already been addressed. So, if we can u make sure that we get some results with regards to that, it will be great. We'll do
also under your report, have we had an opportunity to follow up on any activity for the town homes and what is their status? I know that's not a city project, but we certainly push for that and help kind of secure funding for it by writing support letters and everything like that. But I'm just wondering have we did anything there or even reached out to Palm Beach County because they have actually uh put a secure bond in on that so that those contractors and that project won't default if it does whoever owe money would be paid. Someone have Palm Beach County even looked at it and what would their role and activity in that would be? Um, I have not, but I will call um Palm Beach County to see what what their status is of it and have they gotten in contact with the developers.
That is all. Thank you. Next, we have the report of the city attorney.
Uh, yes, Mr. Mayor. Just following up on a few things that have been said in the meeting. Um, one of the things that, and I think, um, Vice Mayor McDonald, um, pretty much said who the liability was on, which was she believes that it has something to do with the trash hauler and the way they're collecting the trash as opposed to the city. So, for people listening to it, I didn't want them to think that, you know, now it's time to bring your claims to the city for road repair because that's not what, you know, that's not what I don't think your intent was. Um in addition to that we the we have been meeting um as the manager said regarding the code um in terms of dangerous buildings and some of the issues that you'll see. We hope to bring the bring some legislation to the very next uh city commission meeting for your consideration. Um one of the things that the manager did was she reached out to the county because the county said hey whatever we can do and you can look at our stuff. But when I they have not responded to the best of my knowledge. However, I did look at their code, at least what's online. Um I don't know if they've had any updates than what is on uh online right now, but it looks like the city's um code is actually stronger than what the county has on its books. And so, but we'll be bringing back some tweaks that we think will hopefully address um some of the issues. But I do want you all to know that, you know, you do have some um um information on your books that uh is a little bit more um stringent and more comprehensive than even some other cities um a lot of other cities in the Palm Beach County area. So, it's going to be an uh an issue of um just sort of streamlining the process. Right now, it requires that in order to move on certain things, it actually has to be a magistrate hearing that with the city commission. And so, we're going to uh strike through that hopefully and have
it just uh give that authority to the special magistrate. So, it's not something that inquire that requires um the city uh commission sort uh to be somewhat of a try or fact. And so, um you'll you'll bring we'll bring that back and and let you all review that. Um, in addition to that, I just want to put one other issue on the record just so um it's clear and it's an issue that we have discussed and I just um not to put words in the manager's mouth, but in terms of the the uh the companies that you saw on the vendors list, these are vendors that would not repeat the same services that have been um already um provided without procurement. In other words, if this would go over the manager's authority of what the manager has authority for for the same services, this would have to come back to the city commission for a uh a bid on these type of services for them to be on a distribution list. So, um with that, that would conclude my report. Thank you.
Thank you.
So, I have a question then. So, is when we have our audit, is this going to be you think a finding because we've been using the same companies over and it's been it's over $25,000. I don't have enough information to be able to answer that question but um what I would suggest is that the services if they are the same type of services that are being provided um whether it's you know even if you're going to get your um your equipment later you could still have those services as a standby for a period of time whether it's a contract for two years or whatever but something would need to be put together if you're having these recurring services that are going to be outside of the um the authority of the manager because to do so would be um inconsistent with the spirit of the procurement code that requires an RFP for those type of services. Does that make sense?
Yes. Okay, it does. Thank you.
Next, we'll have general public comments. agenda items. I think you skipped the future agenda. Future. Okay. Future agenda items of the city commission if any. And I'll start with Commissioner Mike Pearson.
Uh yes. Uh I don't know if I might can do this with my um commissioner's report, but it may require a meeting to uh to be discussed in the meeting. The parks and recreation board have have been meeting. Uh the last meeting was on um May the 5th and they're in discussion as the commission had directed them to do as far as looking for ways to improve and um a plan of action that we can try to improve MLK Park as well as the park in um Lady Citizen Village. Now, one of the things I think they they've came up with um before we look at any equipment, they're trying to develop a plan, but I know we probably going to have to wait to the budget. So, I guess my agenda item would be to put this on future agenda for discussion so we can look at the budget. And one of the things that they were requesting and I don't know if we have an engineer on staff that can actually literally look at the ground and see what needs to be done prior to anything done and if we can move in that direction and see as far as um trying to take a plan of action as far as getting the ground prepared. Um but uh I guess my future agenda item would be again to put that on the uh agenda as force once you bring the budget back and then we can look at all of that and we can do that simultaneously. And um I guess for uh security engineer or whatever park and recreation person that would need to look at the ground and see what needs to be done
and we do not have engineer on. Okay. Customly, we'll get a second and a vote on it to add it. So, are there a second to have that added to the agenda? Second. Okay. Thanks, Scott. Second. Call for questioning. None. Are you ready for a vote? The second was those by you or vice Commissioner Scott. Okay. Call for question hearing. None. Are you ready for a vote? Roll call. City clerk. Commissioner McFersonson. Yes. Commissioner Scott?
Yes. Vice Mayor McDonald? Yes. Commissioner Cowen Williams? Yes. Mayor B? Yes. Motion passed by unanimous vote. That's pretty speed. The rest of it I can just put in my commissioner's report. Thanks, Mayor McDonald. anything.
Um I think that I requested at the last meeting that we address the um situation with our chamber and um I'm going to bring that up again so that we can u make some progress in that regard. And also I want to um bring to our attention that we need to um review and or evaluate uh any of our emergency plans being that uh we have um storm season approaching so we can add that to the next um agenda so that we can um ensure that we are ready and able to um respond to the needs of our citizens. And the other one that I had was um the contracts. So we already addressed that one.
May we also um staff also attended the emergency um um solid waste management at a disaster preparation hurricane preparation um webinar on either Monday or it was last week last last week. So, we all attended that as well and so that is why we're updating theou with solid waste and they gave a lot of other tips and so they're sending us the um the webinar as well. So, we'll have all of that. So, we'll share that with you all also when we receive it. Okay. My um my thing was to make sure that we um review our policy as well to make sure that we're on point with that.
Okay. I think out of the three, one appeared to be new. Could you repeat that one that you wanted to be added at some point? We talked about the chamber looking at the rehabbing of that space. So, that's already she has that. So, that'll come up. the emergency operation. She mentioned that she will be bringing that for us in that third one, the second one that I just need to vote on it to see if we need to add it for
a few of our emergency um plans and uh for storm readiness. It was one other one I think she did. No, she already addressed that one. That's okay. And she had the knowledge she going to bring that to us. Yeah, she's already working on it. Okay. But I had it as an item, so she's already addressed it. So, okay. I just said that when Okay. When I mention So, nothing we need to vote on at this point. Yeah. I think we need to review our emergency um plan for um
No, I say she say she was going to bring that up on the agenda for us, but we'll vote on it. Uh is there a second on reviewing the emergency plan? Second. It's been moved and second. Call for questions. Hearing none, you ready for a vote? Roll call, madam clerk. Vice Mayor McDonald, yes. Commissioner Cowman Williams, yes. Commissioner McFersonson, yes. Commissioner Scott, yes. Mayor Bab, yes. Motion passed by unanimous vote. I think you're going to be covered on the three items you need to have future general items. Commissioner Kyle is with
two of my items she already discussed. So, I'm waiting for to bring them back. But the third one that I would have is that I would like um for us to discuss on July 28th following staying in line with the charter that we uh take July 28th and August the 11th to have us a summer vacation um with those two meetings if we can um discuss counseling those two meetings. But staying in line with the charter and having at least one meeting a month. So for July 28th and August the 11th, when did those two dates come up? July 28th and August.
No, I'm saying that they come up during our cal annual calendar. We had them on the calendar to take them off or just No, we didn't, but Okay. We didn't have them on there, but I know last summer we um did have a summer vacation last summer, so we didn't have any specific days on the calendar. Okay. So what are your review your your uh July 28th and August the 11th that's the summer vacation two meeting. So you want that to be placed on the agenda for a possible Yes. vacation day. Yes. But standing in line with the charter having a meeting once a month
with the charter. what she's saying that last year we took July 28th and August 11. It's not on the calendar as a vacation or commissioner holiday or vacation day, but she wanted to bring that back to see if we would consider doing the same this year, taking those days off as a like a I I don't want to say vacation, but a break, commission break, and would still meet the criteria of having one meeting a month. That was just her uh motion to add it for consideration,
Mr. Mayor. Yes. Um would that be would that look like a a motion to cancel those regularly scheduled meetings? I mean, a not a motion, but a resolution of some type to cancel. Okay. Yes. I mean, the majority of the commission have to be in agreement that they would like to have that, but she would like to have that lease put on the agenda for consideration. I'll put it that way. Is there a second for that? A second.
It's been moved and second. That's for uh it just be on the that's not okay. Yeah, we'll have to vote on when it come on the agenda. Okay. Yeah, I'll second that. Okay. Call for questions hearing none. You ready for a vote? Roll call. Madam clerk. Commissioner Calvin Williams. Yes. Commissioner McFerson? Yes. Vice Mayor McDonald? Yes. Commissioner Scott? Yes. Mayor B? Yes. Motion passed by unanimous vote. That's just to put it on that. Yes, ma'am. Uhhuh. Okay. So, so that we understand it wouldn't be a resolution. You all just want to discuss it. Is that right to see if we would like it back up and look at the calendar?
Commissioner Scott, anything. Yeah. Uh, yes. Um, could we give like an update on the July 4th activities that's planned? Yes. So, the um Yes, sir. So, the special events advisory board has um met. They will be meeting again tomorrow. They're going to um at 12:00. They're going to meet again next week on the 20th at 12:00 as well. And so, those two meetings are for them to discuss the planning of the Fourth of July event. So, tomorrow at 12:00, next week at 12:00. Okay. Okay.
Any other? No. Thank you. Then we have general public comments. This doesn't have to be agenda items. Uh city clerk, do we have any public comments card completed?

Yes. just to continue with um my part and Rick's uh discussion of some of the things that they were discussing as far as like the painting of the curd stones. They're in the process of trying to find some volunteers and some organizations that can come out and just kind of help beautify. Uh of course all of that will run through the proper channels and do the proper forms that need to be be done once we get to that that level. Um u but this is coming from the actual parks and recck uh committee. I'm just giving you an update on on that. Um and uh just for the good of the order. One of the things uh I' I've been kind of noticing and I don't know if it would cost us anything. Our bus stop our public bus stops that we have um I don't see garbage cans and I think sometime a lot of the people that are um utilizing those bus stop they throw the trash on the ground. So, um, if we can look into maybe seeing what we can do to, uh, put some garbage cans, uh, some receptacles there so we can kind of help keep our city clean. Um, and my last comment, uh, city manager, I want to thank you. you've hit the ground running and I appreciate the thorough reports that you have given us
and keep up the good work. And my last comment, regardless of what anybody think, I love everybody. I don't hold none of this stuff personal. I'm here to do what I need to do to move this city forward. You may not agree with some of the decisions that I make, but I'm going to make the best decisions that I think that need to be made to move this city forward. And I can sleep good at night because I know I made the right decisions. And if I error, I'm I'm a big enough man to come back and say I made and apologize and correct my mistake. And I love all of y'all. Ain't a thing that you can do about it. Vice Mayor McDonald. Um I just want to um again continue to encourage everybody. I know we are facing some challenges here. Uh but it's nothing that we can't overcome. Um, I want to see everybody come together and um do what needs to be done because it's going to take all of us. And I've said this before and I'm going to be consistent in my um in my word to um ask all of you to come out and uh pitch in and and and give us the support that we need because we're your leaders, but we can do we can't do any of what we need to do without your support and without your help. So, um, a lot of plans are, uh, in place, um, to progress Pokei, um, at least from where I stand. And I know, um, there's no eye in team. So, um I'm definitely uh going to continue working on the projects that I have had
in place for some time and uh ended up sitting here on the dez and so I can't abandon my own plans that I've had in place for Pokei and for this entire community. So, um definitely uh come out and make that contribution that you're able and willing to give so that we can all be responsible for the progress that we make here in Pokei. Um I'm working on trying to get our chamber reestablished. Um I need some help um because we can't just open the doors. We need people to manage and uh it's for the benefit of business as well as the benefit of growth um for our children. I'm trying to get the schools on board so that we can definitely provide them that experience of municipal government because um I'm I'm enjoying what I'm doing up here, but I don't plan to be here forever. I want to make my contribution and move on so the next person can come up here. But no one can fill your shoes if you're not providing them with the experience and the learning that they need in order to do so. So, um, let's all be vigilant. Open your eyes and look around and hey, whatever it is you can do to help, you know, don't be bashful about it. Step up and help. So, thank you all. Um, I appreciate you coming out, but I want to definitely, um, encourage you to make sure that you are, um, putting forth an effort to, um, be a part of what's happening and not just, uh, be the one that's criticizing. Although you, everybody has freedom, freedom of speech, so you can say whatever you want,
but if you're not part of the solution, part of the problem, and they always tell me that you're part of the problem. So, thank you again, Commissioner Williams.
I want to first say um good evening and thank you to all the residents that are present and the ones that are online. Um asking that you get involved. We do still have openings on boards. Um the Zap board has another opening. So, um that's a board that we need to get filled. So, any openings that we have on any boards, we appreciate you getting involved. We appreciate your continued support and us continuing to move the city forward. And um I have one announcement. On June 13th, um St. Paul is had St. Paul Church of Christ is having their first annual criminal justice youth empowerment. So any of our youth um please um come out. They want your involvement. Um they're going to be in partnership with the sheriff department. So, please um come out that day on June 13th and it starts at 10:00 at St. Paul. Thank you and have a good night.
