29 West. I have the sign up sheet and there is no one signed up for this particular uh hearing. Is there anybody here that speak?
Um hi. So I received a phone call from u the next door neighbor uh 33 West Enica named John Kelly. He um he had a concern about the about the zone change. The only concern and I I share it is that he wants to I know he can't we can't we can't ever um predict the future but he's got a good working relationship with Tony. The problem is that he has is that it's not on. Okay.
Okay. Sorry. Wrong person.
Okay. Um I was like attorney so um [clears throat] that uh he doesn't want the you know that building to maybe some sometime down the road become like a nightclub or something because of the aesthetic with the neighborhood and it's residential and everything like that and I and I share that um concern with him. So, while the zoning change itself is fine and it's probably uh important for it to happen to go through, we're all for that. Just um you know that voice of that concern and if that happens, I had advised him that you know that person, whoever owns that building in the future would have to still go through zoning. There would still be a process, but um and I said never say never. So, I don't think it would happen, but just want to put somebody's mind at ease. We still have concerns about what the potential could be for that for that uh building. So, um yeah, that was that was that. Okay. Thank you, counselor. Is there anyone else that would like to speak about this uh during this public hearing? Seeing none, uh can I have a motion to adjourn? Councelor Plunkett, Councelor Ashine, please call the role.

Well, that was quick. It's 7:15. Uh, I have the signup sheet here in front of me and there is no one signed up. Uh, is there anybody in the audience that would like to speak? Uh we have three people to choose from. [laughter] Anybody uh have a song or a joke they want to say during this session? Don't encourage me. A clean joke. Clean clean. All right. Uh seeing no takers, uh I will adjourn public session and we will start the meeting at 7:30.

here. All present.
Thank you. I have just a couple items under the mayor's report that I'd like to share with everybody. I want to begin tonight by offering my heartfelt appreciation to our department of public works. During the most recent winter storm, they put in long, difficult hours overnight and in harsh and unforgiving conditions to stay ahead of the snowfall. Their dedication, professionalism, and sheer determination are the reason our city kept moving. We are truly fortunate to have a DPW team that treats every storm not just as a job but as a responsibility to the people of Aiggo. I also want to extend a sincere thank you to our residents. Some of them are here in the audience tonight. On Saturday when I issued a travel advisory beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, I asked for their partnership. I asked them to keep their cars off the streets so our crews could do their work safely and effectively during what was forecasted to be a significant nor easter. And they delivered. Last night and again early this morning, I was out checking the roads myself. What I saw made me incredibly proud. Not a single vehicle parked on the streets. Now, I didn't drive all 100 miles roads, but I was on the east side. I was on the west side. uh and I didn't see one car uh at 5:30 in the morning uh parked in the road. Our community stepped up, respected the advisory, and worked together with the city of Asiggo. Because of that cooperation, and despite receiving roughly 18 inches of snow in less than 24 hours, our roads were in remarkably good shape by morning. This is what makes special. When challenges come, we face them together. When we ask for help, our residents respond. And when our city needs to pull
together, we do it with pride. To our DPW crews and to every citizen who did their part, thank you. Your efforts made a real difference, and I'm very grateful. Item number two, uh, that I wanted to share with you, uh, last week, the city's engineering department sent outformational letters to property owners who used, uh, city water. Now, this was the second year in a row that we have done this. This mailing is part of the New York State Department of Health and EPA mandate requiring water suppliers to notify property owners who are serviced by the city. There were three different types of letters people may have received last week. One was identified their service as lead. The second was identified their service as galvanized pipe. And the third letter that somebody may have received was unknown service material. Now, keep in mind, not every water user in the city received a letter because they were already identified on a previous survey as copper. All water use all water suppliers like the city of Asiggo are required to complete this notification annually until there are no remaining lead or unknown service lines. There was a federal mandate requiring that all water services services be lead free by December 1st, 2037. Water suppliers must also submit a a replacement plan and funding strategy by November of 2027, outlining how they're going to meet the 2037 requirements. The good news is we received $4.7 million grant in 2025 from New York State to replace service lines in the second ward. These funds should allow for approximately 350 to 500 services to be replaced in in that ward.
The DPW has been working for several years now on identifying all the service lines and we will continue to identify and replace the lead and galvanized lines until all are gone. If residents have any questions, please call the DPW at 315-3428180 or visit the website set up specifically for this at www.aswigeny.gov/ gov/government slater. And that is my public service announcement on our lead service line issues. Please call resolution 21, please.
