They did the fuel injectors, and they also put in a new prop, right? And cleaned it up, you said, for sort of...

It's not as black as it was before.

Okay, well, we can get it cleaner, but... Um, so I think, you know, going forward, we've got enough room, both in, um, seasonal employment and some of our other expenses to do the water testing that we, that we had talked about. we're talking about is when we met a few weeks ago, we decided to do sort of a decision tree flowchart of if this, then this in terms of what you do.

So why make a new one?

Also, what's interesting, this came off of Connecticut's Federation of Lakes, which is been sort of on top of all of this, which is good. And they put that this is obviously a draft response protocol. You'll notice that everything goes back to OAIS, which is fine, but I don't know if they're staffed up to do the work that's proposed here, because I realize you're just getting this now, but they're saying basically this is Bugbee's group that would do the field verification, then go out and map the actual water body. I mean, it would be great if the state stepped up and if someone found hydrilla that sort of took over the process and went, but I'm going to Bugbee will be at the meeting on Saturday. I'm going to ask him about this.

My understanding from their presentation at the Federation of Lakes meeting is that what they're setting up here is to supplement associations who don't have their own mechanism in place. It's sort of implied if you're working with someone, keep working with them, and they're meant to fill in. We certainly want to be aware of what they're planning and have an analogous, essentially parallel.

The page before that, this sign, this is a copy of the sign that um has been approved apparently by deep in the connecticut federation of lakes um we can get eight by tens of this of this for like five dollars a hundred plastic um i believe we could so i was thinking of getting one for like haynes park and one down it um you know at the boat launch and John Potter, Probably want to right away 13 John Potter, Yeah. Um, my only question is, they are nine and a half by 11 machines kind of small.

We can't really do anything about that.

And it's not really binding, you know, what to do. It just tells you to wash your boats and I think you sign off on it. I would argue that that's a little over the top for us because we just don't have that many crew boats coming in and out. But they're More organized, more lawyers, more money, more everything up there, I think.

But we have a license there basically to hand this thing out to people at this point. We did get a license to, you can get into that in a minute, to have launch monitors. So, I know, it's crazy, huh? But yeah, if you could see it, when you see him, if you could get a high resolution PDF, that'd be good. We'll just confirm where we can put it in. I guess I got to ask the town if I put up a sign down in Hanks Park. Probably.

That's the first time I've ever seen approved with prejudice in a, in minutes to a minute. Just as an aside, they had a bad deck.

One of the dock sections are injected molded plastic. And one of them became riddled with holes and was sinking. So when they get a few holes, we can weld them shut and save the section. But this was beyond repair, so it was thrown out. So we wanted to get a replacement section $2,500. And so we spent an hour bickering with Park and Rec about everything under the sun about how... But it got approved.

The small print of the license lists what we can and can't do. We have to have a copy of the license. We have to wear safety vests. I think we can just wear our normal Rogers Lake Patrol shirts because those are high revs. We have to be conscious of parking. And the rest of it basically says that we can inquire, but we can't be forceful We can hand out literature, but only really talk about invasive plants, which is fine, because that's really what we're there for.

This is setting up a job for employment for not only earning some money, but to provide a source of liability by being protection for liability by being a town employee. And I'm open to input on wording here. Is it sort of coordinating with on-site authority to show that there is that connection? Emphasizing the care and quality that needs to be done both, of course, part-time, seasonal, roughly three sampling dates a month could total as much as 54 ounces.

Is that the number that I should worry about?

We were talking about collecting samples for phosphorus and nitrogen and then sending off sets rather than every time we measure, which does require freezer space. Is there anyone here who has more freezer space? Like if it needed the equivalent of several of these, would people have it?

And I haven't been able to, if there were like some amendments that came in and out of it, but I don't know if I've seen the exact final final verbiage. But it's good that it passed and it's got to help the process.

So we did send in we talked about last meeting our comments to deep on their draft. T. So in that. T. So they're going to chew on that for a while and I guess we'll hear back from deeps recommendations in a while. I noticed that Connecticut Federation of Lakes basically came up with the same types of solutions that we did in terms of you need all the criteria. It can't be, you know, you've got to consider size, depth, and the type of lake it is to, you know, in conjunction. You just can't say if it's over 100 acres, you can just, or you can, So we'll see where that goes. I don't, I mean, it's interesting that there's, they've had a lot of feedback and it didn't make it out of committee. So we'll see what that means.

I think that's a different outcome than we had feared.

yeah um all right moving along um in terms of new business the lake events are are shown um i went through the list and did a sort and none of these groups will have been on lakes that are infested with hydrilla before they come to us.

So we'll still need to watch. I mean, a couple of them go to infested lakes right after they're here, but so far we're clear in terms of where boats have been prior to coming to us.

No. Well, that's why we have... The concern was if you have 11 boats that were on an infested lake and they all come here the next week, that's not good. And just a note, Learn to Row is on June 6th. I was told on opening day some of your boats got harassed.

I saw Hilde at a party, and she told me that there were some fishermen that were harassing some of them.

Oh, that was Marlboro Day. No, this was the first.

So we're talking about, you referenced opening day of fishing, which was a weekend day. It's like a Saturday, right?

It was a Saturday, and you had a race.

And we had a regatta.

And I said, oh, this is a really bad situation because we've got opening day of fishing and a regatta.

And I think Paul came to your meeting and we talked about putting a sign at the boat launch.

Saying there was a regatta in session. But it ended up being a big nothing burger.

And to the harassment, I'm not sure what Hilly's referring to because I wasn't part of that conversation. You know, there's always... Oh, that was a different incident. That was not on opening day.

I'm sure we've mentioned this before, but just to reiterate, if a boater is acting unsafely, the thing to do is to have someone with a phone take a picture of it, get a picture of the registration, and we send it to you.

I had a guy a couple days ago going north, on the West Shore, which is against traffic pattern. And he was kind of giving us a dirty look like, why are you in my way? And I thought about going over to him and saying, you know what? My coxswain is doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing. You're going against the traffic pattern. Why pick a fight? So I just let it go. But we did have one incident with eight boys that were kind of loud. And a resident took a picture and sent it to us. And I know that reached police attention. And so the resident never made his identity known to us. So it just was like an email address that was, I can't remember, it was something like fun on the lake at gmail.com.

Okay.

And so we emailed back to him and said, you know, I'm sorry, you're upset. And we talked to the crew and unless you reveal your identity to us, we can't do anything else for you. Right. Okay. And that, so that sort of blew over. So, so I mean, it's the same old kind of low level garbage.
