“Yeah, I did talk to a couple of commissioners that don't feel that it needs to stay together, but I am very adamant that EDC needs to be a joint venture between the city and the county. We need to have a seat at the table, and I I'm of the opinion if they do separate it and it goes under the city that we need to just do our own thing, which is going to cost the taxpayers money and be more, you know, not as efficient. That's where I'm standing.”
“I think it's wonderful that General Wiggins, I think he will do a great job. I would be real shocked if he stayed, if it was separated, you know, if we changed the structure. You know, his contacts with the state and the federal level will, I mean, I think he could take us to the next level. And, you know, his leadership skills I know will, you know, just shine. So hopefully, you know, I'll find the same page. Wonderful.”
“Yeah, well, I went to the celebration downtown for the new sculpture that John York did, and it's very, it's a cool sculpture, and it's called Solutions, which, you know, they are wanting to, you know, have some solutions to brighten the downtown, and I do think, you know, they're wanting to really ramp up the art section, the art district down there, and I think that that is a good, um, addition to that. And if you haven't seen it, it's pretty spectacular. And then it also lights up at night, which I thought was really cool. And then Patty Norvega is the new Main Street director. And I think…”
“Yeah. I did see Josh Brewer last week, and I'm going to reach out because Commissioner Panera was also talking to him about Habitat, so I was going to see if we could have a joint meeting with him. You know, we have several lots down on the north end of town that are just plain, you know, just empty lots. And so I asked Josh, you know, if we were to donate them to Habitat, would they be able to, you know, maybe put a house there? You know, he was interested in that, but I wouldn't want to just give it to them and sit there for five years if they could guarantee that they were going to, like,…”
“They used to, and then self-help took that over, and then that's where they did all, like, on the east side of town, did all those. That was a self-help program that the city ran.”
“Did you have a few on your top? I didn't because I don't know what their like, requirements are, you know, so she's physically driven to every single one of them to look at them to say, Oh, I think this would be good, because they might have some different requirements. I have no idea about so.”
“Okay, I'll reach out to him and have a meeting with them and see. Okay.”
“The reason why this was overlooked is because we didn't increase our pay.”
“Oh, that's yeah, I'm sorry it is. Is Travis called? He's not elected officially there, so maybe Jackie.”
“They have it on the beginning of the 1st day or the 2nd day of the 2nd day.”
“I'm sorry. I ignored his sign here. Or the letter of support, yes.”
“Well, I think it's a great idea. Good job on it. Yeah.”
“Make a motion that we adopt Resolution 10-5-2026.”
“I like those. We got one. Those were probably my favorite. Don't put them in the dishwasher now. So were they plastic or glass? No, they're glass. Yeah, the logo they had on it was my favorite one. All right.”
“And it wasn't with us. Yeah, I know. I didn't understand. I thought it was with us. Oh.”
Not quoted here: it may name a member of the public. Hear it at the meeting.
“We shouldn't have been as high or we shouldn't have been, okay.”
“Does having an MOU at Junction City help the rating, help your rating?”
“I was going to say, how often do they do that?”
“But will we be at a six until they come again, or can we ask, say, hey, we put this in implement?”
“Yeah, I think that, I mean, based on what you explained to me, I think that that is it. a good goal to have.”
“Well, you know, and that brings me to, and I don't know if you saw in the packet about, you know, I've been, I don't want to say confronted, but asked why I'm not supporting Rural Flyer. And that really hurts my feelings because I think, you know, I think the world of you guys being volunteers in such an important, I mean, important position. you know, since 2022. So I made a list of everything that this commission has done to support. And I'm glad you're here, Brian, because I don't know if you know all this, because I don't know if there's been, you know, one of the conversations that we…”
“Well, I mean, we paid for them. So, I mean, that's an expense that we had. You know, we got the cutoff saw. We've gotten the protective gear. I mean, you find another rural station that has gotten in the last five years how much as we've gotten. I think we've done. And we need to, you know, having that plan in place. And having a capital improvement plan is just a wish list unless it's funded. And so putting that plan in place is I feel very responsible and that we're going to be able to continue to see the improvements that you guys need and want. I mean, you deserve that. I mean, you should…”
“I think Gary does a great job getting that.”
“For sure. Nobody's ever saying that. Right.”
