Thank you. We will now... Sorry, no. You're good. I'll entertain a motion on the agenda.
We have a motion and a second. All in favor?
Okay. First one, Councilman Golan asked me just before for a moment of personal privilege to give you an update. I had a meeting with the university that's helping us work through that strategic planning process for our departments.
Thank you. All right, our next item is the swearing-in of a new patrol officer. Chief Adams.
We're still a big city compared to Salina.
Well, welcome. Thank you. I was going to say that, but I didn't say that.
All right. Next item on the agenda is a discussion on the master plan road in the vicinity of 725 North and 1450 West.
Okay. Is there a deeded right-of-way that already exists to the east going out towards I-15?
Yeah. Kent, why don't you weigh in from your engineer perspective here.
But currently there's not a dedicated road up next to Tom's, between Tom's and the storage containers.
Okay, there's a 30-foot section that's dedicated.
Mike, can I ask you a question? Is it really a problem of having that road versus it's frustrating to be asked to pay for that whole road when people should have put it in Getting to your property.
Because if it was already to the edge of your property line, is there a road? Then you would not have a problem.
I think that was the most offensive thing that's ever been said to him.
And I think the hard part from a staff enforcement standpoint is every development has the same problem.
You've got to put in infrastructure, and sometimes it's the other side of the road's not done, or you're having to run it past a property you don't own to get infrastructure to the piece you want to develop. That's just part of development. Yep. The argument of... The city having different rules, that I agree with. We have to follow the same rules if we would expect a tax parity.
Because we did a significant improvement to that whole building.
Correct. But that's like any other road that went in. And once something happens, then it finishes its way through.
Well, no, you wouldn't put it straight through, but the way it's drawn, it could go through on that top part of the property.
I don't think you talk at all about eliminating a master plan road. Right, we're just talking about. You're just saying we're going to dedicate this rather than develop it.
I think that's a good enough discussion on this one.
We're not undedicating any road. This is still a dedicated road in the discussion we just had.
This is still a dedicated road in the discussion.
Yeah, and we're leaving it as a master plan.
We're not removing it from the master plan.
