While you're up here, I was going to call you. What's the traffic count? Is that us on 61 Highway? Say that one more time. The traffic count that's out on 61 Highway, is that us?
I saw this today, and I wasn't sure if that was us or KDOT.
That was the only question I had. All right. Thank you. All right. Thank you.
Only on... If you come up with a mic, I'll just tell you. Anyway, agenda and non-agenda items, it's at the beginning during the public comment section. So if you have a comment or question, it's at the beginning. It doesn't happen during the process. So when the agenda item comes up...
Yeah. Public hearings, there's comment. But if there's not a public hearing, there's no public comment. It's only at the beginning of the meeting during the public comment section.
Not quoted here: it may name a member of the public. Hear it at the meeting.
Is the exterior casing plastic or metal?
And from your comments about those people not being with us anymore and us continuing to move this city forward, I do want to make sure to encourage the people in the Southwest District to get your applications in because we need another council member to be able to help us to navigate the future of this city. That's pretty much all I have.
So that's all I have. Okay. So the next item will be the future agenda items. I know you said that we're going to have public comments and the trash bags.
Okay. Is there any other future agenda items council would like to see coming up?
Not at the moment? Okay. So the next item would be we've got a couple executive sessions. The first one.
So, okay, yeah. So on the first one, I need to consider a motion to recess an executive session pursuant to KSA 754319 for consultation with the city attorney on matters that would be deemed privileged in the attorney-client relationship, specifically legal advice regarding a land purchase agreement, the open meeting to resume in the city council chambers at 9 p.m.
So executive session number two, consider a motion to recess in the executive session pursuant to KSA 75-4319 for consultation with the city attorney on matters that would be deemed privileged in the attorney-client relationship, specifically legal advice regarding pending civil litigation.
I need to make a motion to extend executive session for another 10 minutes, so 9.30. Second. Yes.
Good evening. I would like to call to order the October 6, 2026 Hutchinson City Council meeting. Mary Colerill.
And tonight we have Victor Halfman from Legacy Bible Church to come offer the prayer.
Thank you. Before we get started, I have a couple things I'd like to read. This is from Councilmember Fess. I've appreciated the opportunity to serve the citizens of Hutchinson over the last five years. Effectively, immediately, I will be resigning as council member for the Southwest District for personal reasons. Greg Fast. In light of that, with his resignation, there will be a vacancy on the city council representing the Southwest District. In two weeks, the council will have a discussion about the process for filling that vacancy. At that time, we will discuss how residents can apply, the…
Is there anything else on the agenda, changes and modifications beyond that?
Okay. Anything else? If not, then I would just need a motion.
At this time, any person wishing to address the City of Council shall be recognized by the Mayor, come to the microphone, state their name, address, and subject of their comment, including whom they represent, if applicable. Public comments are limited to three minutes and must address matters within the business and jurisdiction of City Council. Comments may address agenda or non-agenda items, but all comments regarding agenda items must be made during the public comment portion of the meeting. Public comment will not be taken when an agenda item is later considered by the council. Comments…
Yeah, it's agenda and non-agenda items right now.
Yeah, okay. Or 7B. Yeah, I thought that you're part of your neighborhood. I know some of the neighborhoods, sometimes they're segmented out of how those water services, how they get played in there. So I thought you were in that district that was going to be, we're going to talk about on 7C.
No, I appreciate you coming forward, and I came to the meeting that you guys had, and so you had a lot of support for wanting to get this done. So I'm glad everyone came forward, and we're moving this process forward. So I know you need the water. Okay, thank you. Thank you.
We're not technically engaging with them, but we can engage with them. I mean, it says we don't normally do that, but we do have some leniency to do that as well. So it's not going to be standard practice, but there will be some times where, like the, what's his name, came forward and talked about the Oxford House. Just getting information out to the public sometimes I think is important that we do that. So not in every case, but just kind of have to follow it a little bit, so.
I know, I know you and I had a discussion about this too. And so if it's something we need to put back on the agenda to actually have a bigger conversation about, I don't have a problem doing that. I know we were just trying to tidy a few things up on that. And so we probably just stick with what the policy says and move forward from there. So, and if, if you guys want to have conversations with us, our phone numbers, emails, et cetera, are on online contact us anytime. I mean, that's what we're here for too. So anyway, so next person, anyone.
