I think it's in writing. It'll be in the minutes.
I mean, I think we're willing to have that conversation.
Mayor, I haven't voted yet. Oh. And my reason for this is not the bid, not the project. It's just that I'm concerned about the location, and I remain concerned about the location. And once we do this, and once the building's up, we can't move it.
Plus there's a whole bunch of elevation.
My specific concern is what the optics are of having an outdoor rodeo arena at the Iron Rangers Arena, and you can't see the arena.
I guess you're right. There's so many vehicles and trailers. You're right.
But, Scott, I will say this. Nelson and Cox, you're so wise on so many things.
No, no, because I'm not against the project. Yeah, I know. So I will vote aye. Okay.
Just remind me. When they leave our employment. When they leave employment.
Councilman Phillips. I just wanted to make a comment and then perhaps propose something before we get into motions and discussions and things. First of all, I want you to know that I greatly respect each and every one of you and you can see that what makes our city stronger, I think, is that we have many voices and out of many voices come, I hope, wise decisions that sometimes we all have to move and compromise a bit on and hopefully the best decisions rise to the top. At least that's the intent, right? And I particularly want to thank Councilman Gallon and Councilman Cox for their hours of…
whenever the new policy is. And I think January 1, if it's better for HR to do it now, that's fine too. I just don't know what that appropriate time would be.
But as a city, we also run 24 hours a day. We don't have Eight to five.
Councilman Phillips. Mayor, I think in light of conversation and the feelings of my colleagues that I'm going to withdraw the attempted motion on the 160 because I don't think it's going to pass.
That'll be completely changed. There'll be two left turn lanes.
There's no signage there on those maps at this point. I don't remember seeing any signage that says no U-turns or U-turns. No, not the signage, but it shows the lanes.
You deserve to be up here. You're every week.
That's kind of how it is now, though, with the addition, right? There's no traffic.
I just want you to know, we were there last weekend for the Pumpkin Festival, and your crew couldn't have been better. They were there for every issue, every problem, and they were jumping on the spot, so kudos. In fact, I said to Colin, I said, does Scott ever give you a day off? He said, I might get Sunday afternoon off if I'm real good.
Mayor, I would move that we adjourn this action meeting. Second.
Thank you. Good job. Not even 7 o'clock. I'll try. Good job, Robert, on the policy. I know it was huge.
I see my microphone on, sorry about that. I would move that we approve this agenda for this action meeting on September 23rd, 2026. Second.
I just wanted to remind everyone and get the word out that this particular Saturday, September the 26th, at 8 a.m., we're going to be transforming our downtown and Center Street into the harvest decorations and the harvest decor. We've got, I hope, a good bunch of volunteers. I've reached out to a lot of folks. and I'm hoping that down the road this is something Cedar City Cares can help us with, maybe next year, when they get a little more under their feet and understand what's going on. But I would just like to remind everybody to be cautious and watch people crossing the street. I urge…
I am number two. I like being number one batterer. This is really something I want to bring up for discussion, and that's why I asked to have it put on the agenda. I've noticed, and I've thought about this for several years, I just haven't brought it to the attention of the council, but I'd like us to consider putting street lights At the bottom of the top, I don't know which the term is for Coal Creek, there on the north side of Coal Creek Parkway. We have a sidewalk there, a trail there on the opposite side of the creek. There's a lot of traffic and a lot of people walking and I just think…
I think it would just, I'm just thinking it would happen, I mean, we put one in on 300 West about five years ago at my request, but it worked, and I think it's still working. But I've just noticed over the last two winters how dark it is there at the bottom of 100 and 200. So I'm thinking, I was thinking across the street on the north side of the street there, but at the intersection, yes. So the sidewalk, though, not the walking path, the sidewalk.
Yeah, I'm not asking for traffic signals. No. Yeah.
