“Yeah, no, and I'm in support of it. We had that conversation where we determined that there was a lot of requests. And I just wanted to see if there was something across the board, if this was the policy. So it sounds like there's maybe something else that could come before us to set sort of like the uniform policy, right? OK. The, let me see, there's one more. So I'm obviously excited about the use of Amelia because it's just going to make our work so much better too. I know I bombard you with a lot of emails for facility rental, so that's going to be really great. You know, I don't remember…”

“I have a couple of comments. Yes. Councilwoman Porras. So I think it's a great idea. I think it's something that's been said to the residents that we would do at the police department. And I think it's great that now our officers, or at least I think it's one officer, right, that's going to receive training or maybe multiple. OK, that's, I think, great. And I think that it's great that we're doing it as a pilot. Anything that the city does to bridge that gap and those issues with HOAs, condos, and the residents, and even the board members, I think helps. So the constituent days, the DBPR…”

“Thank you so much. Yes, Councilwoman Porras. Well, again, welcome, Chief Castillo. We had a great conversation, and I'm looking forward to your leadership as well as your deputy chief. Welcome as well. You are coming into a really great city where I think our residents respect and really care for our police department. And that is a lot. Thank you, Chief Lopez, because he's the one that has created that with the great work and service that he's provided to the city. And thank you for your commitment to continue being that connected to the community and that voice for people, and as well for…”

“It's something that we definitely are looking forward to. And as my colleague, the vice mayor, has said, your background is really great. I think it's definitely going to help with a lot of the issues that we have here. And I'm looking forward to that. So welcome again. And Deputy Chief Dweck, right? Is that how you say it? Dweck. Dweck. Dweck.”

“Well, Chief, I mean, we can't thank you enough. And we really can't find all the words to say how grateful we are for your service and for your leadership. You're a great person. You really, really are. And it showed. That's why so many people are here to recognize you and thank you for the work that you've been doing. And I know you're going to do even greater and better things. Like I said, don't forget about us. And this is definitely not goodbye. I know that we'll be seeing you. I know that we're going to be working with the city of Miami, I'm sure, as we work with other police…”

“Yes. Thank you, Mayor. I just wanted to say, and I meant to say it during the strategic planning session, but I didn't get a chance. You're doing a really great job overseeing the department's And the entire team and all the directors are doing amazing. Their response time, every time I send an email, an inquiry, they respond right away. And by the way, I don't expect you to respond the same day, but you do. And I do get a lot of good feedback from the people that you guys are helping. So I really want to say you're doing such a great job. And I'm also very eager to see all of the new things…”

“So during this review, I actually didn't know we had a reimbursement policy for employees, which is, I think, really great. I actually thought we had kind of like a partial COVERED OR FOR TUITION. I DON'T KNOW WHY. BUT I THINK THE REIMBURSEMENT POLICY FOR EMPLOYEES, I THINK IT IS GREAT. I THINK IT'S ACTUALLY SOMETHING THAT HELPS TOWARDS RETENTION towards recruitment, but I just don't think that we should have taxpayers pay for the education of the city council. That's just my opinion. I think that if any of us, one, because we're not here permanently, we're here, however many years right but…”

“Yes, I really like this initiative. Thanks for bringing it forward. I was getting asked by people like what the city was doing for the 250th. And I think this is a great way to celebrate it. I know that in maybe like two years ago, we talked about having a parade. Hopefully. We can look into that maybe next year. Obviously right now it's too late. I think that 4th of July should be celebrated a lot more and just have a lot of the community participate. So thanks for bringing it. I like it. I really do.”
