Three Fires Confederacy, the Ottawa, Ojibwe, Chippewa, and Botawatomi. The taking of this land was formalized in a process alien to Native cultures by the Treaty of Detroit in 1807. The Anna Republic Schools recognizes that many other Native peoples lived on this land at different times, including the Fox, Sauk, Shawnee, Kickapoo, Miami, Muscatoon, and Cherokee, many of whom were forcibly removed from their homelands. Acknowledgement by itself is a small gesture and does not exist in the past or solely in a historical context. Colonialism is a current, ongoing process, and we understand our…
I would I will chime in yeah I want to have everyone chime in go ahead thank you I think we're probably I think we're talking about two different things so I think what if I can put words in your mouth trustee Wilkes What you're talking about is a pre-transition discussion. So those of us who are still on the board, many of us who have, not me, but many of whom have been on the board for a long time or served on boards for a long time, can offer their advice, their insights into what we could use as transition materials. So we would be discussing This wouldn't be a transition meeting. This…
Great that there's, you know, some sports stuff and some peer stuff and some, you know, the new JFS partnership. It's a lot of great stuff. I had a couple questions. The MiFi survey, when does it happen and how?
And do students, is it online? Do they... Check a box on a piece of paper? How does it work?
And it must give demographics, even though it's anonymous, so you know some of those statistics about the certain groups.
Great. Yeah. And is there, it seems like there's a lot of focus on the high school level. And you said next steps, opportunities for elementary school. So what about our middle schools?
It's not a new item, but it was brought up before an update or a discussion about AI use in general. And I just didn't see it listed in our upcoming meetings. So I just wanted to make sure that that got heard.
All right, a couple of questions. First of all, I wanted to thank you for getting all of these data together and presented in such a short time frame. So I don't know if it was said at the beginning, but we just got this information like a week or two ago. Okay, so a week and a half ago. So this is a lot of work, but it is really important. So thank you for getting it together and getting it presented as soon as possible. It really, that's super important. I had two questions. One you talked about and you reiterated, the high expectations. How do we measure whether teachers are doing that or…
And thank you for that my other question is Most of these or maybe all of these steps that you have in would Help all students. Yes, so do we have specific steps for those specific groups that are that we're not serving, or we're serving the least, or I don't know what the... Underserving, yeah.
or anything like that, as far as I know. So I think it's definitely worth discussing.
Trustee Wilkins? So this would replace our regular meeting that night? Yes. Okay.
Hey team, we're excited for an exceptional new school year. Welcome back everyone.
Thanks. I also want to say thank you for all that. And these are really impressive numbers. And I'm curious about the enrollment in particular, the number of engagements, which has gone up each year, even though our student enrollment is going down a little bit each year. And I wonder if you have some insight into what that is. I know it looks like the before and after care has grown quite a bit. Is that one of the factors or what else do you attribute that to? Yeah.
And it's a really good thrift shop. The young kids really, they were like people out of town every weekend because they read about that thrift shop. It's good stuff. I wanted to – I've been able to speak to a number of you one-on-one, and I wanted to issue a personal – I'm speaking not for the board, I'm speaking for me – a personal apology for – Making a decision last two weeks ago based on assumptions that I knew enough to decide what was best for your kids. and I didn't know enough and I don't know enough. So I'm grateful to those of you who have had conversations with me and will continue…
