“Would it be more advantageous, since the law hasn't been brought forward or potentially discussed, that we utilize the money that is there and perhaps invest it to recap a yearly budget, perhaps about $140,000 potentially a year on average, just talking about what the return would be on that. And that way we are able to do that. Can we do that? So that way the money is continuously, every year we're able to use that as an investment to put towards housing situations like this.”

“I see. My objective to this whole conversation right here would be to utilize the funds that we do have to roll those every year to be able to sustain those donations throughout. But if council doesn't see that to be fitting or if there isn't a market that we could put those in to be able to recoup a higher return, then obviously we got to do what we got to do. So that's all I have, Mr. Mayor. Thank you.”

“Thank you, Mr. Mayor. To Deputy Mayor Johnson's comment, frankly, the legislature can do whatever the heck they want. We've seen a lot of unprecedented things over these past few years, unfortunately. And fortunately, if you want to believe that, that's fine. The fact of the matter is, if there is unallocated money that hasn't been spent, they can pass a law and come back after it and heist it, essentially. So that's fine. If that's what they want to do, they have the power to do that. With that said, my question is, with the RFPs, multiple RFP filings come back, can we select more than one…”

“Thank you, Mr. Mayor. First, I want to say thank you to everyone that came out. It's always a pleasure to hear everyone's concerns and voices and comments and also resolutions to issues that they have. And so that way we can make good decisions from their comments. So I appreciate that. Concerts in the Park, as Deputy Mayor Johnson said, mentioned I was able to go to the first one and that one was probably one of the biggest I've seen in comparison even to last year and so to say that this Thursday is going to be jam-packed is pretty insane in and of itself the sound is incredible absolutely…”

“Thank you, Mr. Mayor, and thank you for coming tonight and giving us your presentation. Appreciate that. I just wanted to make sure I was following. Council Member Adler made a question. Were there any other cities that had any discrepancies or issues with the locker? And I wasn't sure if I got that. Maybe I missed it.”

“My other question to that is because of the funding procurement for the colleges from the federal government. Was there any discussion about having a lopper over at WSU in our downtown core on the west side?”

“Thank you, Mr. Mayor. Just as a clarification, obviously, this first ask was originally for the $80,000. Will there be a continued ask for that $24,930 each additional year moving forward? Is that something that you intend to do?”

  8. Play at 2:07:07
“Sure. No, I appreciate that. And I appreciate everything that you shared with us tonight. Obviously, we do have a need in our city. And I do think that your model is very unique. And so I don't want you to be discouraged by the comments that you had heard tonight.”

“Oh, welcome. And I wouldn't take it, and I know it might be difficult to hear it this way, but I wouldn't take it personally because as one of my colleagues said, this is a process.”

  10. Play at 2:07:45
“And this is the first time we've had a chance to discuss this as a council. And so, you know, as... Other things have been brought into this discussion. Those other things took a couple times to get right, and we got it right. And so with that, don't be discouraged. Keep fighting the good fight. Keep marching and doing the right thing, and I look forward to seeing this another time. Great. Thank you. Okay.”

“Thank you, Mr. Mayor. Yeah, I mean, what a phenomenal night of discussion and debate and conversation and hearing from those in public comment. In particular, the nurses that were here. We hope that they will be able to work through those bargaining agreements and being able to be paid and being able to stay around in our city, that would be a phenomenal situation to occur sooner than later so that way we don't lose great nurses in our city. Just a little update about the flag. Last numbers that I heard, we were at 57,000 right now in total monies raised with, I know, more that have pledged…”
