“Thank you so much. Thank you. Our next item is the Pledge of Allegiance. Can you please stand? THANK YOU SO MUCH. OUR NEXT ITEM IS TO COVER ANY CORRECTIONS TO THE AGENDA. GOOD EVENING, CHAIR, MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION. THERE ARE NO CORRECTIONS TO THE AGENDA FOR TONIGHT'S MEETING. THANK YOU SO MUCH. OUR NEXT ITEM IS PUBLIC COMMENT. “I THINK IT'S REGARDLESS OF WHAT WE DO, RIGHT? IT'S APPROVED WHETHER WE HEAR IT OR NOT. IT'S APPROVED, RIGHT?”

    Planning Commission · Oct 6, 2026

  6. Play at 9:18
“I MEAN, THIS IS HONESTLY A FORCED ACTION. And despite all of the recent action, the council denial and the planning commission denial, it's resulted in a mandate from the state that really shifts our discretionary review, right? We don't have any more discretionary review. I'M ASSUMING THAT IT'S GOING TO MOVE FORWARD, THE PROJECT MAY MOVE FORWARD, AND PLANNING WILL TAKE THE ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESS IN ISSUING ANY SUCH PERMITS OR ANY SUCH REVIEW.”

    Planning Commission · Oct 6, 2026

  7. Play at 11:24
“I think that perhaps we can leave that AS AN ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESS AS WELL. IF THE COMMUNITY HAS ANY REASON TO, I WOULD JUST HATE TO OPEN THIS BACK UP TO THE COMMUNITY WHEN THERE IS NO ACTION THAT WE CAN TAKE. I THINK THAT IF THERE IS SOME PUSHBACK FROM THE COMMUNITY THAT THEY TAKE THE ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESS AND INVOICING ANY SORT OF OPPOSITION OR support for the project through the administrative process. I just don't think that there's enough benefit to reopen that for this body. Any thoughts, commissioners?”

    Planning Commission · Oct 6, 2026

“But ultimately, I think this will support not only the state's response to the housing crisis, but also if this in any way can help MAINTAIN, HELP WITH THE STATE'S HOUSING CRISIS, BUT ALSO HELP TO IN SOME WAY FUND INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE CITY. I THINK IT'S AN OVERALL BENEFIT. I'M HOPING THAT THIS MAYBE TAKES US FROM BEING JUST A CITY THAT IS OR THE CITY THAT IS THE MOST BUSINESS FRIENDLY TO BE THE MOST HOUSING FRIENDLY AS WELL.”

    Planning Commission · Oct 6, 2026
