The city of Oak Park, Michigan zoning board of appeals meeting is now called to order. Is my uh is the mic on? It is. So, the the uh the zoning board of appeals meeting is now called to order and we have one case before us tonight. And it looks like the applicant just barely made it. You know, I don't know what the outcome would have been had he not been able so but he did make it. That's the utmost importance. So So can I uh can we have a roll call, please? Member Anderson here. Member Brown here. Member Houston here. Member Clyde here. Member Level here. Member Selixson

0:52 – 1:150

here. Member Steinberg here. We have quorum. Okay. So, um, has everyone had the opportunity to read the minutes from the last meeting? Can we have an a motion to approve the minutes? I make a motion to approve the minutes of the September meeting.

1:11 – 3:050

Okay. And as of the preparation time, there was no communication. Has there been any addition? No comm no communications. Okay. uh any old business. Okay. So, the new business is pertaining to the property the PAI uh the facility at 8150 West 9 mile road in in Oak Park and the applicant is present. I see it just made it right. I don't know. But uh the um the the applicant is requesting that some um uh adjustments be made in the zoning uh order. And I guess the uh the rules according for that establishment in in accord with the blade signs is that they not be illuminated and they be less than or less than or equal to four square ft and that the that the facade of the building uh that that it be 4T or at least 4T from the facade of the building and that or that it be less less than or equal to 4 ft from the facade of the building and that it would be greater than or equal to 8t above the ground level. And you've asked for some deviations. One is that the uh that that they be illuminated and the second is that it be greater than uh 4T. And so do who do do you want to Yes.

3:04 – 3:480

Beg your pardon? Open the public hearing. The what? No. Open the public. You're opening the public hearing. You have to open Oh, I think I did. I called it the Wait, but didn't but now you have to ask people to come. You have to open it to the public. Oh, the public. I see them. [laughter] Okay. So I I guess to do is there anyone in the audience that uh has any input for the uh you know for for our consideration? So is the applicant present? Do you want to um uh present the information associated with your case? Could you got to state your name and and and address?

3:46 – 4:280

Also, sir, hit the button to turn the mic on. Green light should come on. Got it. Okay. My name is Jim Giri. I'm the owner of Pyai Pizza and a Oak Park resident. Um I'm asking today that you give me a variance for this sign to be illuminated and be larger than the four square feet. Um my thought behind this sign was that it would face the travel directions of NMI and not be facing any residential homes this way. Mhm. Um, and that's pretty much all there is to it. Okay. Do we have any questions for Mr. Giri?

4:26 – 4:560

Uh, the only question I have is when do you think you'd be able to get the sign installed by? Um, I think if I get the permit, I'll try to put it in next week. Okay, that was quick. Okay, that was quick. [laughter] Yeah, I've been waiting for this sign for since I opened, which is February. It'll be two years. Two years. So, okay. So, what's been the primary hold up? You got How much time do we have? [laughter]

4:54 – 5:380

It's not It's not this. This has not been the primary holdup. No, the primary holdup was the person building the sign uh was they moved shops and material costs and ordering the laser cutting and it's just been an ordeal. So, but sometimes that's how I define being a grown-up is something that you feel like should be easy. You say, "Hey, I want this sign." And it's not easy. Well, I maybe we'll try to help you out here a little bit. [laughter] Any questions for Mr. Gary? No questions. Anybody uh have a motion on this? We have to close first. Public donuts public. [laughter]

5:37 – 6:190

Yeah. Okay. I I'll make a motion. Uh based on the information presented in the staff report and additional findings of fact discussed during the review of case 25-09, I move to approve the request of PYAI 8150 West 9M Road for a waiver to allow the proposed blade sign to be illuminated and measuring 8.73 square ft 40 in in diameter to serve as the primary sign of uh the business. Article 4, Division 4, section 473, additional sign standards of the zoning ordinance allows one non-illuminated blade sign not to exceed four square feet in size. I second the motion.

6:18 – 6:570

Okay, [clears throat] any questions? It's been properly moved and second that the uh request be approved. Can we have a roll call on the subject? Member Selix? Yes. Member Steinberg? Yes. Member Leovic. Yes. Member Clyde. Yes. Member Houston. Yes. Member Brown. Yes. Member Anderson. Yes. Motion carries. Okay. All right. We're all set. Thanks, Jim. Guys, have a great night. Good luck, sir. Yeah. Mhm. A lot of people
