Sure. Well, it's been a year on the board. I really enjoyed it the first year. I've been on other boards within universities and alumni boards in the past. And so I think it's really exciting to kind of run meetings like this and gather information from across universities. different stakeholders and bring it together and make things come to life, whether it's this position or just being present on the board as an opportunity. I think for like this year, I think trying to move away from art only being the sole kind of project would be a great pathway for us. moving towards things like pocket parks and implementing practical changes, whether it be like fixing potholes and painting things that need painting or adding shrubbery to locations or adding lighting to dark areas of the village, I think can go a long way in terms of enhancing how we all work together. But yeah, nothing necessarily specific, but looking forward to working with you guys regardless.

I'd like to echo Jacob's sentiments. I've been on the board for coming up to two years now. I served for the last year as vice chair. I think there are some tremendous opportunities coming up for North Bay Village over the coming years and beyond. I really think that this board will be spoiled for choice because Either I think Jacob would do an incredible job regardless, and I'd be very, very happy. I am very happy to serve on the board. But yes, as Jacob mentioned, moving away from art and really embracing the opportunities that development is going to bring will present us with some really great opportunities. and exciting options in terms of flexing our kind of creative and imaginative flair and seeing what we can all contribute to the village.

Aye. Okay. Minutes approved. Moving into new business, and I will hand it off to you officially. I've been kind of running the meeting up until this point, but you can take over. So solo music artist discussion. I do have an update on that if I can share that.

So I was in touch with an artist who I found through friends of friends. He is a professional musician. And I just wanted to recommend to the board that we start off not with a high school or college student, but that we start off with a musician who is well-versed in performing live music and things like that, at least for the first round of this activation that we're trying to do. And just to catch you up, Mr. Siegel over there, we're interested in doing these live music activations around the village. We put out a survey. We had over 60 respondents, which is great. And we decided that we wanted to prioritize just a solo musician and identify different places around the city that would make sense to have that person perform. And we just thought it was a really cool idea. I think it's really unique. Uh, so this person is a guitarist, uh, would be an electric guitar. So it's, you know, with, uh, with an amp, it's a little louder listening. Um, they sing, they just play electric guitar. They have a sort of, uh, forgive me on the terminology. They have like a, like a drum machine, like a beat thing that like DJs use that kind of thing.

Oh yeah.

And they're able to make, uh, percussion sounds as well as play the guitar. So two in one, um,

What are we thinking for location?

That's what I wanted to ask the board about. I really wanted your guidance on that to see what you thought was a good idea. I had an initial thought, definitely just thinking out loud, somewhere like at the school property, and you have all the buildings there on East Drive, which I think some of you live there. Yeah. No, you do.

It's those two.

Yeah, and Jingle Field as well. No, so right in front of the school, literally at the driveway. That'd be cool. I just think it's a cool open space that they could use.

Does that still have the fence around the lawn?

Yeah, the fence is around the grassy area right in the middle, but the driveway is open.

Okay. I think it's interesting to think about places, because I think it would depend on what time and when the performer would play. It'd be great to do it. Would he be open? I mean, I know weekends are tough for professional musicians, but does he have kind of any preferences and.

No, he's looking for, you know, our preference, our guidance. I would just have to be on a day that, you know, obviously he's available, but he told me he doesn't mind either way, as long as we let him know with enough time, he could, you know, make arrangements.

I think, yeah, go ahead. I would also say behind Moda, Baywalk, if it advertised right, because the view's great, weather is nice, breeze, boats going by. Yeah. And so... It's like a linear park.

Yeah. What about where they do the food trucks? Because you could do people sitting in the grass. It's not North Bay Village, technically, but it would be cool. You mean at the marina, right? Yeah.

What about the parking lot outside where Sushi Erica is since that closes at 6?

There is something the city has been working on, mostly led by Commissioner Schiavone, that has been working on trying to extend the causeway. as part of an exit onto North Bay Village. I don't know how much movement or motion it's getting. It's no taxable properties. That's on hold for the moment. Okay, it's been on hold.

I know Jacob wanted to say something. Sure.

I was going to say, what about the, I don't think there's any businesses in the parking lot where Cow is and where Ciciarca are open late. I was wondering if that's a parking lot that we'd be able to use for something like this or not and work with that building.

I will say the only issue there, that's the Lexi. The only issue there is all the construction going on with the roof on the building. Maybe not the nicest area right now. But maybe for the future, I think that is a great place.

I think the only issue with Moda is how far it is and how secluded it is from the rest of the village.

That is true. Good ride the bike walk. You know about it because I live in I go there all the time. And I live in Grandview Palace, and I'll go drive my car and find parking walk the dog over there. You know, or I have a little fold up bike if I had to, I could easily

right over there if you're over there in a second yeah the the only guidance i wanted to offer you was i just want to try and expose as many people as possible to it so that was my kind of thinking is like where is the best place to do that where the most amount of people are gonna you know figure it out yeah will we have any kind of um resources

Like, I'm just trying to imagine what this looks like. Is it like, is it your, is it the musician kind of like standing up there kind of busking style or like, will we have like opportunity to seat people? Like that kind of, that to my mind, because if we're doing it on a weekend.

We have the head of events too, Lily, if you've ever met Lily, who's great. And she helps us. So if we're hosting something like this, we would team up with her, I would assume. And she would help us carry out a lot of the logistics to make it look a little grander, so to say.

Yeah, it's up to you. You know, my thought was it would be a little more like spontaneous, you know, but I think we can also invite people to kind of pull up and take a seat on a lawn chair or something like that. Yeah.

Yeah. So it's up to you. Vogel Park would be ideal, but I feel like we have so many things in Vogel Park. It's the obvious solution. Like bring a picnic and like, especially if we were to.

I like that everyone came up with an alternative location other than Vogel Park. It just seemed like the obvious one to me, but then it was good. Everybody came up with, yeah.

Oh, what about the, what about that park area that we've sometimes utilized?

Civic, Civic Park. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's on East Drive, Harbor Island.

Yeah? Yeah. I think that would lean more towards an actual program.

So it's up to you guys. I mean, decide if you want to do more of a spontaneous thing where people kind of organically show up to it, I guess, or if it's more of a planned.

How much lead time do we need?

I would say probably a month, three weeks to a month, I would say is reasonable to let someone know.

I have a pretty good idea that might work. So that area behind Moda would be pretty compact if we had like this, let's say we had like a small stage and all that. This might sound far-fetched, but so you know the boats that drive around Miami with the big screens? yeah so those are um actually someone who lives on he's north bay yeah so it's my good friend growing up um what's the name if you don't mind nate shapiro or the name of the company is ballyhoo yeah so our our former director of communications is the director of external relations for ballyhoo

I'm very, very familiar with the company, and we've used them before for different programs.

So I've been to a bunch of their stuff, but what they could do, and this could be really cool, I don't know if we could... make it work for the first event if it's coming up pretty quickly but they could pull up in front of there and the musician could have a screen and perform off the boat and everyone could sit facing out the water looking at them yeah cool i like it i think if we did something like this where he was going to park that maybe vocal or somewhere where you could house more people than moda might might be good too but still on the water

The weather would be clear.

Yeah, there's always that factor. I think on that idea, which I love, my first immediate thought was having the boat travel through the village. I don't know if that's feasible for them. We have to check in with that. But again, my whole thing is how can we expose as many people as possible to what's going on?

Could we move to have three different locations where it moves to over a two-hour period or something like that? So different parts of the village get 20, 30 minutes of music?

Right. Exactly. Yeah, that's kind of the direction I was leaning more towards.

That's a cool idea.

I think they... They've had musicians, I don't know reggaeton that much, but someone famous in the reggaeton world was doing a music video. But they were filming him singing, driving along Miami Beach and all that. So it's definitely doable to move and do that.

Yeah. My whole vibe going into this was promoting it as like... keep your eye out for this that's going on. It was less so like, please come and show up too.

You know what I mean?

It's like, stay right where you are. It's coming to you. Look out. It's going to be around somewhere, that kind of thing. It's more mysterious and more fun and more spontaneous. That's kind of what I was going for. i'm not a truck no no no i love that idea do we do we have to think about like permits for any of this like if we just if we just have a somewhat like a single musician i would i would refer to ballyhoo on that okay you know we we definitely wouldn't have to do any of that yeah it would just be the boat you know moving around that yeah might have to do something maybe not um again we've worked with them before so we have a good relationship there yeah Um, but with enough time, you know, we can, we can do it. It's not fast approaching. I mean, it's really up to you guys, like what kind of, what week you want to do it, whether it's a month, month and a half from now, whatever. Yeah. Um, but it seems like it's turning into a slightly bigger project. Um, so maybe a little bit more time would be good to talk to these different, you know, parties.

Yeah. I kind of like the idea of like keeping that idea, but maybe for this next. like musical performance we have and just kind of like, and like starting off, like you suggested Leo, just kind of like starting off in this and then perhaps like building to that, like once we get a bit more awareness, we've engendered a bit more awareness within the community.

That's great that you have that relationship. You have to see what the cost is too. Adding the boat is obviously more expensive. Yeah, I identified a funding source. It's not a whole lot. I would just say I wouldn't want to spend more than like, well, with the boat and everything, I don't know, but maybe $700 to $800 on this one thing, I think, is reasonable for like an hour and a half or so. So that's kind of what I'm working with right now.

The artist himself said, 300, I can probably get him down to 250.

I was thinking an hour and a half so that it's continuous. Because if it's any longer than that, I feel like the artist would have to take a break. Because I wanted a continuous thing. And he gets that, and he's agreeing to that. But he told me 300, so I can probably get him down a little bit. And I also told him that we would be open to using him a second time or a third time so he really liked that a lot you know yeah just to come back we could do it monthly once we have it going i think it'd be great

With that Leo too, I mean, I think if we think about this as like maybe a three or four times over the next six or year, we could pick three or four locations that he pops up on for that hour and a half. So like Moda could be one, Vogel Park could be one, outside Grandview on that like Cobblestone Street, the school could be one. We could use that parking lot if and when that roof is completed. So we could think about it that way where we think about it as more of a longer term commitment.

so for the first round what are y'all thinking so we can finalize some uh yeah let's put it let's pick a day in the location and just make some choices and put something on on paper so we can put it in motion yeah yeah

Yeah. So in that spirit of high-traffic areas, what are you guys thinking?

I actually like your idea of being near the school because that's a heavily trafficked area, East Treasure Drive right there. And there aren't a lot of things that kind of happen at the end of the island.

Are we thinking like 5 o'clock?

I think like, yeah, late afternoon, kind of early evening.

That's what I was thinking too.

5 till 6.30 or something?

Weeknight? Weekend? I would say if it's the week, if it's a weeknight, it has to be like a little bit later.

That way people... Do we know if there's any like school events that are happening or like I don't know what actually the school offers because they don't have kids, but do they have like practices or anything like that? Like a unique thing that we could piggyback off of that it finishes around a 5.30, 6-ish mark that if we had it at 6 o'clock, there's some actually community members transitioning between family events.

Yeah. All I can say is we have soccer Tuesdays and Thursdays at the field. That's really the only thing I can think of as, as to a reason to not do it on those two days.

What about a Friday night?

We have a rough date. It's a Friday in late March or early April, and we have a time, golden hour. I will share that with you all. so that you're aware, really quick kind of primer on us communicating. So when you're on any board, any colleagues that you have on the same board, you cannot directly communicate with them on any potential future item that's going to come to this board for discussion. So it's called Florida Sunshine Law, which you're sure familiar with.

So just keep that in mind. I can send stuff to you all. know individually so i'll share that information when i kind of put it all together just to get your your nod you know yeah um okay so we have a time direction we have a rough date yeah i think so and then the location we decided is the school did we decide that finally is east treasure drive along east treasure drive is that i

the first one i mean that i i think that's good i think that's a great idea i just think it's kind of it's kind of it's quite close to like those um restaurants and eating areas down there as well so like you know people could go there people might you know pop in there for a drink after the performance or go there for dinner or bring people out like i think i know petrolunga had a band there one time and i think a couple times

But I didn't see a lot of people going there. I remember walking my dog, and I'm like, oh, it looks like they're going to have some stuff set up. And then later on, I was like, oh, it looks like they're playing music. I went to the convenience store, and I went back up. Yeah.

It's a cool location, too, though. It is.

It's a lovely location. It's kind of right there. I don't know about that seawall all the way at the end, like past the school. Like the island walkway. I always like going over there. And it's always like a little walkway and everything. And then I look down and I'm like, what's Leo talking about? How would we ever connect the whole bay like that?

Because it's such a great idea. And I'm just like, man. Right where we did this. You hit my source back. This is the guy. Right where we did that beautiful mural. Right where we did that beautiful mural going down to Grandview. And then they locked the gate.

Yeah. And I love my little seawall there at Grandview Palace. And then, yeah, they built the gate.

But that location right there in that corner, which was called the underpass, could also be a very cool spot because you have a big outside. I mean, I guess we would need Grandview approval or something like that.

they wouldn't even i got the key the gate is pointless because it's locked on one side where you could go walk around it's the marina who i think just put this there yeah um we're working on it we gotta open that up that's part of the island and i like walking to the end to that seawall there and that would be cool like that parking lot there that's the building there at the end you know where that like seawall is you could walk you've got to walk through the parking lot at the end of your street there it said that if you pass um yeah the elementary school right and you just go all the way down and then it like opens up you kind of have a seawall there people hang out they sit there yeah I mean like you go lay down like a little blanket you could sit there and have a great view and watch everything right there and I don't know that parking lot there but that's where people park like for condo living or something yeah something by the water that's what I was thinking okay yeah I think that water would be nice yeah okay

I will identify a place on East Treasure by the water.

Friday, late March, early April. Think about the school. It is kind of right there. It is about a convenience. Everybody is like, oh, we could just like go check it out there. I don't know.

I think whatever is more practical, I think I could work with that. Yeah. Anything else on that item? Questions, recommendations? Love the boat.

We'll do that next time. Yeah, I really think we can bring that into the mix later.

We got to do one to get it going because then you'll always learn, oh, we should have done this or should have done that, and we'll make it more efficient because that'll be a larger budget to pull them into it.

Yeah, absolutely. Maybe we could do some, I mean, I might be getting ahead of myself here, but for the bigger one with the boat, we could have You know, like local food vendors set up like a little table there, have food, grab food and eat and make it more like an event.

that's a really good point I think we need to do a better job of uh reaching out to our building and like I get the emails and stuff like that but like not everybody's like oh I am North Bay Village email or something but like a piece of paper like on their little Lobby thing like I'm waiting for the elevator oh look a lamp free lamp this event you oh yeah that's so many families and kids in the condos and everything yeah sounds great

I did. I had an idea just that I was telling you, I've been approached by a couple of people at the, at the park and vocal, and they wanted to see like some of the parents, like some seating for parents, but like, we could maybe make this just like some, something fun. It could be like another art piece or similar to the, the benches that if you've seen, we put on East and West drive and, you know, Vogel park, as well as the park, it may be in ties. Um, just a small thing but maybe we can put these some seating into the into the parks i thought would be nice addition do we not have any seating you know there's really not if you go in there is like maybe one bench but lately like vocal park is packed like there's like 20 to 30 people there after like at this time of like five o'clock like right after work or like you know it's it's it's and on the weekends or in the morning i see a lot of people there so um it's getting a lot it's getting a lot of use yeah it's a heavily programmed space there's the kayak launch there

We are working on that, yeah. But there is, yes, on that property, yeah. It's not ready. It's not open yet? Not yet, no. Risk management stuff? Yeah, just some final touches we've got to make on that.

Yeah, a local park for sure could use some seating, just adults who watch their kids or, you know, even I've seen some grandparents come, you know, looking for places to sit. So I thought that. I had another idea. Well, it wasn't another it's not a new idea, but I was wondering if there was an update on the bus shelters. I've asked around a few times, but I was seeing if we could get the implementation of the bus shelters, or maybe Mr. Manager, if he's listening, could do you have any update with the poster manager on the.

Well, shelters, I personally don't have anything. I don't think we have an update on that just yet.

We've got to look into that. We designed some beautiful bus shelters. It's been a while. They're good designs. And they're artwork pieces, too.

I remember seeing renderings over a year ago. I heard something about them going up. They were a couple hundred thousand dollars. But we got it funded and the budget and everything.

It wasn't cheap. They were expensive. Yeah. So I'm sorry. So you have the pieces already? No. You were saying the signage? Sure.

We had it funded. We had them created and we budgeted for it. So yeah.

Yeah. And I think we were, and don't quote me on this, I will look into it and I will send an email update on that. I believe we were going to get two units first and then the rest later on. The design that we had approved here at this board a while back was a really modern sleek design that I think we took inspiration from Val Harbor and a couple other towns out east. So really nice, if you remember. But I don't have all the plans. It's very expensive. Yeah. So we'll get you an update on that. Could you share those with me so I can just see them? Yeah, absolutely. I had this idea, and I'm not sure. I'm trying to think of a space that would be appropriate for us. husband and i were talking about um like going to a drive-in there was like an old-fashioned like drive-in like old-time drive-in that we saw and i was like i wonder if we could get like an outdoor cinema somewhere in north bay village like civic park for example bollywood but what if we use the screen so yeah they did um last year they did the screening for jaws 2 which was a horrible movie

I don't know if I could put that on a record. But it was in the park near Aventura. It's huge. This would be cool.

Reynolds Park. Maybe we can talk to the owners of the Continuum lot, and maybe they would be open to allowing us to do a special event in there or something. I could maybe help with that. I was going to ask, what's the...

because we're thinking about space, but some of those lots where there's that old restaurant that's been closed for a while or the one next to it, the continuum is they're obviously a bit more active.

They're all owned privately, so they just need to seek approval from the owner. It'd probably be difficult. Others have approached them trying to activate that space. Nothing's out of the question.

thing, I think, assume liability on the city, you know, of course, that's their biggest concern, you're on their property. And if someone gets hurt there, you know, but that's always the biggest thing.

with the boat and we could build up a lot of momentum people could sit and if not a lot of people the boats are cool because it's north bay village and where else does that yeah but if not like i'm sure we could find some type of big projector screen that comes by and then just do it yeah you know and pop up pop up movie night in your car i used to love those yeah yeah i used to go as a kid all the time we used to go drive through like

The swap shop had the drive-in movie theater. They don't have them down here anymore.

I had a few other thoughts if we're shifting conversation. Say it again. Just a few other additional thoughts for this meeting or for future meetings. One was like, there's the really cool pocket type park concept that has popped up in different areas where it could be a small four by four type space, but turning it into like a little tiny park, whether it's with the little library boxes or a little bench or just something different. And so thinking about how we could maybe utilize that concept in the village at different street corners. There's a few areas like within Treasure Drive where the shrubbery's kind of been eroded and it kind of just sits there, but it could be a potential kind of like small spot for folks to kind of stop on walks. So that was kind of one thought that I wanted to put out there as well as I think the houses probably in Treasure Drive are a bit too close together, but there's the small parks in Normandy Isle that I've always thought were quite cool. So I'm not sure if that would be a possibility to try and work with some of the existing developers in certain areas to improve access to the water in some way for the residents that's a great idea Jacob I do like those part those little micro parks on the island I went to go visit all of them not too long ago on the bike um being by the water there those require obviously a lot more negotiation and like thought pattern but I know we're getting the new construction that's happening at the corner I guess the southeast corner of Treasure Island. There's that new building that's, I guess, going to be put up. And so I think it's an opportunity to try and get in with those developers early on to see how we could extend not only the island walk, but see about how can we create more public access to the water.

Yeah, that's right. What's the building that they just bought? The one that's on East Treasure Drive, just behind these guys in the grove? There's like, there's a new, there's, it's like, it's some sort of private, it's some sort of development group that bought that gigantic, it's like 350 condos right next door to you guys. Yes, that one. That one. Yeah. Yeah. That's, that's what you're, that's what you're referring to, right, Jacob, when you talk about extending the walk and things?

yeah yeah i mean i think i like really love that idea and concept and it seems like that's like one of the few areas in the village where the buildings are off the water enough where we could do it but i think it requires some obviously working with them as soon as possible and far enough in advance to kind of execute on it do we have a um sort of like a map that shows where all the new buildings are going to be There's some stuff on the website.

Commissioner, don't you have, you have your own, you have a map that's like, yeah, yeah. My husband was using it for, like, as part of our, like, renovation plan.

Yes, I can share it.

Oh, yeah. I love a good map. I'm always looking at the North Bay Coast map, but I'm using the Google map right here. Look, I have it up all the time.

Because maybe that could also help. That could help with planning the pocket parks, sort of like taking a look like, okay, here are the different areas where they're going to be, you know, doing construction where it's, you know, sort of an easy target of let's use like a space quite adjacent to this and sort of mapping out like, not like a connected path of them, but seeing like, okay, where are easy locations that we could sort of like designate some pieces of real estate to incorporate that in.

Yeah, I know that when we encounter a new developer in the community, we are. really good about getting concessions from them to benefit the community in general. We have a project currently that it's not final, but we are trying to work out like a pocket park kind of aspect to the project. So we're always looking for different ways to create new public space and do that kind of thing. As you know, we're just so limited on space in general to find these spots.

It's one of the reasons why I joined was, you know, I read all the different articles and things that are minutes out, uh, be published online. And a lot of them said like, you're working with the new developers to do X, Y, and Z for the community. So. I was pretty intrigued by that because it's a great opportunity to, you know, they're going to be sort of level setting, you know, the ground and making it a better space for everyone else, not just people moving into the big condo buildings and such.

Is that office at the Pagani building?

That's their sales center. They're going to sell out of it for a year.

another thought that i had that we can discuss in future meetings potentially is um i love when we do the christmas lights during the christmas or holiday type of time of year it would be cool if we could do some sort of solar powered lights within those palms that line the village as people come in and the same with i think it's there's another road that's parallel to it um behind um uh pirates alley there's also a bunch of large trees that kind of line the center of the two streets um that could be cool opportunities to bring some sort of like lighting like that to those areas that north treasure drive is that weird i think that's what it's called yeah that's what he's talking about yeah yeah

bit of a good idea and it's something we've worked on before but just adding adding more trees to North Bay Village I think anywhere we can is also something good that we can work on yeah and I think there's certain grants that that we can tap into that we have in the past to do we plan we often do the gumbo limbo is the tree that North Bay Village seems to select whenever we Plant trees, but I'd like to see some variety in this and maybe even like some other places of where we can make this happen. I'm always looking. I mean, we have a lot of. We have a lot of pavement in our road. Where can we add green spaces? I think always take a look if there's something we can do. I think adding a green space somewhere would be amazing.

100%. I'd like to see more, not just native to South Florida, but native to this really specific area. And you can drill down that level of specificity, but I think that would be great, really showcasing what has been here for thousands of years.

How have we assessed those types of locations in the past? Is that just folks within this type of part of the community that's more engaged on the boards and stuff that point out locations? Or have we taken in feedback from community members and people who say, hey, I'd love to put a tree in this area?

a good question i think um in my experience i'll be honest we really rely on our consultants to identify like what specific areas need more tree canopy we we do take into account uh the county's priorities of um There are heat priorities where we acknowledge that with better tree canopy and more green space, we, you know, we cool down certain areas. So these are all different factors that are taken into account when we select locations for like a massive investment in trees. But by all means, if one of you or any community member brings up a specific place that they want to see something like that, I mean, we definitely consider that, you know.

I was thinking like one of the thoughts the other day is I think I actually was walking around and there was just like a pothole. And I was like, where do people send these things? And like part of the enhancement aspect of mine was like, how do we start to acquire some of these items from folks that are just like small improvements, but actually like annoy a lot of people? Like even I was, I think I was going to the airport at one point at like 4.30 a.m. and there's still some red lights. And I was like, why are these lights red? They should all be yellow until like 5.30 or 6.00.

and so even trying to change some things like that i was like those could be small things that affect people's lives that we don't even necessarily see on a daily basis so as far as uh like potholes and just things you come across on a daily basis we have a really uh turnkey solution we have an email called actionteam nbvillage.com if you're not aware of it already it means that we only need to continue promoting it more to just yeah It's on literally all our business cards in the village. It's always, you know, promoted in our newsletter. We try and put it out as much as possible. But you are guaranteed a response within 24 hours on whatever you send us. And oftentimes it's within the hour. NB Village. All our emails are nbvillage.com. So that's awesome.

That might be a cool email to kind of try and utilize for different types of campaigns to solicit some feedback on like where people could see, see information. Yeah. I didn't know that. That's cool.

Like, let's say there's like a pothole or something like that. If people like forget, oh, like what's the email address? Something like that. If there's just like an app where you could literally just take a picture of it and be like pothole on.

Treasure to be clear. It is public. It is out there. You can download it and you can send in concerns. We just don't promote it heavily. Because we haven't kind of made it or. I guess elevated it to the quality that we want it to look like and operate. So that's kind of why we don't really put it out as much, but it is out there. You can submit concerns through it. uh we just don't promote it heavily we promote the action team email yeah much more heavily because it's for us it's just easier to manage and it's more immediate uh response you know that's our goal at the end of the day uh but you know something we can look at again and see if it's feasible i'm just like thinking like if my wife came across a pothole and i was like would you rather email them or take a picture on an app she'd be like oh just take a picture on the app sure yeah because that way it gets like in people's head like oh there's an app for that yeah it

Like if you use it, you know, a look at it by all means.

I can definitely tell you that. I can commit to that. We'll take a look at it and see if it's worth reinvesting in.

Cause I remember like, wasn't there like bridge closure stuff on the app or something like that?

That's coming through as emails or text messages rather.

When there's an issue, we send out what we call an Everbridge, which is the platform we use for like kind of emergency messages that go out. So for like, you know, any police related activity or, um, you know, our bridges acting up, which actually hasn't happened in quite a while.

It's been great.

We're, uh, Yeah, we've been working on that relationship with the state. They're state bridges. They're not the city.

I can see a highly functioning app like how you aspire it to be in the next couple of years. I can see that as being tremendous value, especially once we start doubling, tripling, like, the city's population. Sure. Absolutely.

Yeah. Like, almost like you got the music events on there. You have, like... Just centralized, coordinated communication. Like, here's what, like... But... I don't, you know, I'm not always on the Facebook group, but there's always people, like, you know... discussing things in the Facebook group that they weren't aware of. And all of a sudden it's like a surprise, but maybe if there was the app and like, you know, reminder every day for the next seven days, like concert will be held here or something like that, or, you know, just, just like a way if we could like make the app really good. And then I think we, I mean, we'll definitely need to invest.

I have no idea how much something like that costs, but we could put everything there. Sustainability, safety, like every, you know, flooding warnings, weather.

We have an app. I know. Yeah.

I remember having it and I even liked seeing it on the phone.

Not bad, but nobody, honestly, the Facebook page is the number one form of communication here. Everybody.

I wonder how much it would cost. I wonder if we could spec that out to see how much it would cost.

Well, I mean, it's already built. We would just have to kind of upgrade it and add whatever we feel like.

Is that something we could solicit community members to help work on? Because I feel like We're in a place of 10,000 people. There's probably three or four very good developers that would be able to knock it off in a couple weeks with whatever improvements we needed.

I personally would be open to that, and I think it's a great idea. I can tell you that our CIO would be very hesitant.

Yeah, data sharing and access, yeah.

It's definitely not open source. We are not in that position. And our CIO, who's actually on this call, because he's everywhere all the time, is hesitant and very protective, and rightfully so, of our system. And he does a good job keeping us safe.

It's beautiful. It's fantastic. They have like four or five courts. So when you're coming from Normandy to the beach, it'll be on your left-hand side right before the Walgreens. Brand new courts. Yeah, they're great.

We've got one planned for our development.

They're paddle ball courts. So it's like right next to the Walgreens. But yeah, we do have something planned in the AFWA development to do courts. That's on Galleon Street. Which will be North Bay Village. Yeah, that's definitely the best place to have it. I mean, it's going to be a whole sporting, more than just soccer fields. They're going to have tennis and multi-purpose field. I mean, they're going to be turf, so... oh um is this what you're saying like this is at the school of north bay village they have a collaboration that has been done uh which has been a long works because there's a lot of overlay between the city's jurisdiction there's the school board's jurisdiction and then there's a third party who's financing a lot of it which is the argentine football association and we're making progress uh and hopefully i think the best time where we'll see that is in the summer when the school is out this year that maybe we'll start to see some real progress on the fields this coming summer would be fantastic optimistically the best thing that i think could happen great excellent thanks i don't think there's any public comment so uh

It was the park chairs in Vogel Park. Yes. Yes.

I don't know if that needs it as well. I just go to Vogel more regularly because I live right there on Harbor Island and I'm there and that's what people had said to me. Hey, can we get this? And the other thing I was told was canopy, which is nice, but the manager is already working on adding more canopy to where we have there. So more shade. so i think some shade and some chairs would be a nice addition to that that park and maybe the chairs are even mobile but they're like big and they're strong you know they're not they're durable but you know they can kind of like be dragged around the park so to say i don't know maybe they're stationary benches something that we can design and put into there and i don't think is a huge expense to to do yeah

movable is a good idea it's like industrial movement and people treat stuff barely around here it's not a park somewhere else it could be used yeah maybe a couple of them that could move around the park and then when you could take it where you okay nice sunset view instead of just gotta sit here or something heavy durable strong it doesn't rust it's left outside it's got to be all-purpose weather yeah something like that so

But then I'm just like, anything that you do, you're like, oh, what about this? Oh, no, that's sunbeam. Oh, no, that's this. Oh, yeah, these would all be great ideas. But yeah, I think you're going to have to do that. Risk management, insurance, you can't do it. And it's like, well, there's not really much. So it's like the roads, right? Oh, that's the condo unit. Oh, that's them. Well, man, there's... Every no means you're getting closer to a yes. To where I like what Jacob was saying. Okay, now I'm thinking, okay, what can we wrap or color? we wanted to color just the the median coming down on the causeway which is really great and i thought just adding a north bay village teal blue or you know something like this would be nice and It is something that potentially we could lobby for and I think to get approval for more color, but that's on us to get done because. Yeah, we wanted to put the color just because it's so. Dry, there's just so much pavement that just I was like, man, just adding like, a little color to the room and would do absolutely no harm because a lot of buildings and just a lot of sidewalk and street that has that color. Let me put this on my tree list because maybe we can. I know we've worked a lot with that time. We haven't gotten far before, but. you're laughing at like no waste of time um but that would have been the manager and i met with them recently and it was a very productive because we wanted the bike lanes too we wanted a green bike lane we wanted a lot of things we had a wish list yeah yeah and what was the the the

conclusion of your meeting with the manager well the focus Frank do you want to give an update I think just like I do enough talking yeah so bridges was probably a main thing we want to as part of the bridge rehab project that they're doing I'm not sure if you're familiar with that they are going to redo the two flat bridges the one that's in between Harbor Island and Treasure Island right before Channel 7 And then the other flat bridge is the one that leads into Miami, that long strip before the marinas. Those are the two flat bridges we have, and they are totally redoing them by 2029. So we wanted to get in early on the design process and see if we can beautify the railings along those flat bridges. So some of our electeds sent in ideas from different cities. were just pitching those kinds of things to them and to see what they would be okay with and they were very open to whatever design we were looking at the paintings of the meridian i feel like it's the least ask that like we should go back well for them it's a obviously a safety issue you know that's what they say uh if it's not yellow which is the typical color that people are used to then it's kind of a hazard for drivers or whatever yeah um so we we yeah it's it's yeah it's it's complex for sure and we were open to a bunch of different colors for different parts of the road and they just were not really uh receptive to that they have a code and they are sticking to it and so yeah but we do have some American flags in North Bay Village branding that I was saying I was telling you before I think it's going to be cool yeah that's coming soon and we are also celebrating our 80th birthday what's the timeline on getting those out there

month two months so cool in the coming weeks though when's the 80th birthday the 80th is in august no bad idea for you know making it a big thing yeah absolutely absolutely birthday party there we go yeah yeah all right hot august and august can be notoriously rainy yeah yeah

the end of next week we'll have the itinerary set with the location the date the time and you'll confirm with your artist for the first one at least for the musician yeah so we'll do the first by the end of next week and then it'll be you know we'll help all promote it a little bit over the course of three weeks or whatever it is tacked up on condo lobbies and then like i said we have a little it's just a little piece of paper folded and then i always grab it to look at it you just read what's in there okay that's it
