Balden Smith, 237 by Court. I've been noticing a a big increase of um having children riding in the street on motorcycles and in some cases they're actually having children on their laps um which is just totally insane. I think there's a real need for the um council to communicate to the public what the standards of road activity are. um uh it's it's not just motorcycles, it's the um um all-terrain vehicles as well. Um again, there needs to be communication as to whether the city does have standards on these issues on bicycling, on motorcycles, and in general. This is a killer. Thank you.

I'm just here to say I I talked to out there. Uh I want to thank the fire department for coming down for me. They was very professionally. They they treated me great and or I will make this on the record. Uh day three took me to the hospital. You guys got to do something about between here and East Main I mean West Main Street. That squad one is God bump bumpiest road I've been on. I just want I just want to thank the fire department and publicly what they did. They they hold this big butt down my steps and put me in the squad. They treat me really great.
Good. So, had to pull him. He said he's going to have Thanks. I want to make it public. So, thanks. Glad you're feeling better. I will. Anybody else? City officials, law director, I'll pass. Thank you, Mr. Mayor. I will pass this evening. Thank you. Uh, Mr. Cos, Miss Engle, I think I'll pass, too. Uh, Mr. Absolutely. I have an announcement. Okay. There is a East End first ward cleanup on May 2nd and we'll be meeting at the Carson Field
on the second from 8 to 12. Invite anyone who has time to come clean up these dead.
Thank you, sir. Mr. Marmy. Thank you, Mr. President. Need to call a finance committee meeting for May the 4th. Um the only other thing um Michelle U comment on the motorcycles, ATVs, I'm going to lump in there electric bikes. Now uh there are laws already in place as far as uh the use of those on public roads. uh as long as they are licensed and um have the proper safety equipment to be on the streets, they are authorized uh by the state of Ohio. They just cannot be on state routes or any kind of expressways or interstates. Um the criteria though is that uh you still have to have a valid operator's license. So, anybody under the age of 16 cannot be operating them. Uh, helmets are required if under a particular age. I believe it's 21. Um, and I'm not sure. Yeah, I don't know the helmet law, but I know eye protection is a requirement of all. So, um, I do know that those laws are already in place. Uh, it's not easy. There's other things. pursuit is not something that our law enforcement officers uh can do because of lawsuits because if they pursue any ATV or anything like that um then and there is an accident then the actual city or municipality or whatever law enforcement agency has been sued. So uh most law enforcement agencies the protocol is that you know if somebody is doing something wrong uh you can try to pull but do not pursue as
far as if they run because if something does occur then um it's actually it can be construed as fault of the law enforcement officers or that entity. So just so you know kind of some facts about it. Uh those are things that are in place already. So with that, Mr. President, I will pass. Thank you, Mr. Neely. I will pass. Miss Newman. Uh great. Thank you. No, you can't call me afterwards. Yeah. Thank you.
Thank you, President Harris. Um so, uh thanks for queuing this up to Michelle and to Mr. Marmy for bringing this up. I was actually speaking with Chief McKe out in the lobby about this before. Um, I want to say thank you to the New York Police Department who has kind of preempted a lot of since the weather has become warmer, we're seeing a lot more activity of these different types of bikes out there. Um, the police department proactively has been doing some work on social media um trying to make um some awareness about that. Previously, they had done some stuff on bicycle safety and so I do want to thank them for doing that. Um, you know, this really puts not only the individuals who are on those vehicles at risk, it's also at risk of our neighbors for potentially accidents happening. Um, so I do encourage everyone to just look out for each other. Um, because I' I've seen some pretty crazy stuff in my neighborhood. Um, and I'm about to have to have some very uncomfortable conversations with neighbors. But it's really important, I think, because I'm just worried about some young people getting getting really really hurt. So, I think we all need to step up and help each other on that. Um, the second item is I just want to say thanks to everyone in the historic Hudson Association who showed up a couple weeks ago for a neighborhood cleanup. Um, we got a lot of stuff cleaned up around that area in the seventh ward. It was an absolutely gorgeous day and probably about 15 people showed up and um, thanks to the city of Newark for helping provide some uh, cleanup supplies for us on that to make it self or safe and helpful for everyone. And with that, I will pass. Thank you.
Thank you, Mr. Barker. Thank you, Mr. President. I will call a service committee meeting for May the 4th, and I will pass. Miss Blind.
Thank you, Mr. President. Uh, Pride Family, thank you for coming. Uh, Special Olympics is an incredible organization and we do have record holders that are presently living in the New York area and it's just fantastic just to see the part level of participation. So, thank you for what you're doing. Thank you for coming. Like to thank the street department for uh mediating some long-term requests. They've just they've been fantastic. Just appreciate them a lot. And uh Director M, I know he's not here tonight, but I would just like to thank him and his staff for scheduling these cleanups. Uh we had one in the south end. It was both first and second W. It was a joined. It was a great time. We had a just a great time. It really was. And this weekend, if you have time, Sunday, the Buckeye train will be coming into Newark at 8:00 in the morning on Sunday and then it'll be going to Dennis Depot, then be returning to Newark approximately 6:30. And I'd like to thank Ohio Central Railroads, Dennis Depot, uh certainly Wendy Zukl, all of our departments for contributing to make this event happen. It's going to be a great time and find out more about that later. Thank you, sir.
Thank you, Mr. Sheep. Thank you, Mr. President. I will pass. Thank you. Um, our next meeting will be in the best month of the year is May. May it be on May 4th. So, May the 4th be with us that night. I have a motion to adjourn. Motion by Mr. Cross. Second. Second by Mr. Lim. All in favor say I. I Yes, sir.
