Metropolitan Council - Regular Meeting

My name is Robert Robinson. I'm the chair of the Nashville Health and Well-Bearing Leadership Council. The Community Health Improvement Plan really has four strategic priority areas. And so the one we'll be talking about today is housing. So when we think about housing, particularly here in Nashville, housing is one of the biggest drivers of health. If people are concerned or worried about where they're sleeping, worried about paying rent, worried about being displaced, it's really hard for them to have positive health outcomes. And so the goal for our housing work group is by December 2028 is to utilize the unified housing strategy as a roadmap to identify immediate low barrier actions to improve equitable health outcomes for vulnerable populations. Really, when you think about the work that we want to do with housing, we want to really accept the foundation we're having a protective barrier so students and families aren't having to go through those different transitions just because they're not able to afford you know the current place to say they have to worry about rent and by doing that we're really reducing some of that stress we're really setting them up for positive situations where they're able to not have to worry about the stressors or different things that come with that and they're really setting them up for success
