City Council - Regular Meeting

We are on 3rd Avenue North here in the city of Myrtle Beach. Broadway Street is right up the street here. What you're looking at behind me is soon to be 16 affordable workforce housing units. There's going to be a new build, 16 condo units. The project is intended to be for our workforce, our teachers, our nurses, our policemen, our firemen. If you can work in your community and live in your community, it brings a little bit more pride into your work. The $480,000 is going to be funded through the city's workforce housing. which is a fund that city council established I think back in 2018. They took a small percentage of the building permit revenue and we segregated that off and put it into a workforce housing fund for exactly for things like this. For our policemen and our firemen, our teachers, our healthcare workers, it's exciting to be able to give them an option to live where they work. I think that's pretty cool and pretty neat.
