[Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] I [Music] do. I do it. [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] Uh we'll get started. If everybody would please stand. We'll start with the invocation. My Austin Lord, thank you for this day. Thank you for bringing all of us together safely. Uh, I just lift up Ramon's family and to prayers and just bring peace over the situation and um just watch over them as they're all gathering together. Um, I just thank you for our city and our county and our state and just ask for some more
moisture to come our way. Uh, watch over us and guide us in Jesus name. Amen. Amen. Like to establish that we have a quum and call our meeting to order. We're going to have the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. I pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Now the Texas flag. Honor the Texas flag. I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas. One state under God. One and indivisible. [Music] Gil, thanks for being here this evening. And Tam, appreciate you being here. Juan, thank you for being here. [Music] Uh, we're going to have public comment. Kirk, thanks for being here as well. Did you get any comment that you'd like to make? Not necessarily. I know tax season's coming up. I got you. Wanted to be here and kind of pay a little attention. I got you. Well, we uh appreciate you coming as always. All right, we will move into our agenda. First item we have is the approval of the minutes for the council meeting held May the 12th, 2025. Make a motion we approve those minutes. Got a motion. I'll second. A second. All those in favor say I. I. All opposed. Motion carries. Next item is to consider the revised drought contingency plan. Tamar, do you want to comment on that? Yeah, mayor. Every year, um, TCEQ requires our drought contingency plan be reviewed and adopted annually. Um, the way that it stands now, revisions were not necessary. The plan in of itself is
adequate to move on with another year. Did we have any questions or discussion? Make a motion without it. Continue to plan. Second. We have a motion and a second. All those in favor say I. All opposed. Motion carries. Next item is to receive the financial statement for the month ending May the 31st of 2025. Make a motion to receive the statement. I'll second. Motion to second. All those in favor say I. I. All opposed. Motion carries. Next item is the administrative reports. The MSI water park did open today which is different for us. It's the only Monday that we will be open for the entire season. After today, we'll resume to regular hours of Tuesday through Sunday. The youth fishing day at Lake Nielsu will still be on Saturday, this Saturday, June the 7th. We'll do that from 9:00 a.m. to noon. And then um right after that, we have the music in the park and the food vendor event that we are kicking off this year. We hope to that it'll be an annual event from this year going forward, but we're just going to try it out this year and see how it goes. The first movie in the park event will be the Thursday, June the 19th. Um, we generally schedule these for the third Thursday of every month throughout the summer. And so we will be doing June, July, and hopefully August if it doesn't interfere with any other back- to-school activities and everything that we have going on in the city. The next TML Region 3 meeting will be on Thursday, July the 10th at the FiberMax Center for Discovery in Levik. We'll be releasing information for that at a later date. Usually, we invite um city staff and and city council and their spouses to that are welcome to attend. So, we'll be getting you some more information about the details for that event. The Mui Public Library began their summer reading program on June the 2nd. I think that today they were having a magic show over there and there was
quite a few more people show up than we expected which we love and that's a huge hit for our our library during the summer. The city pool party will be on Monday, June the 16th at 6:00 p.m. at our Milshy Water Park. That is again on a Monday. If you guys can plan on being there on the 16th, River Smith is going to cater that for us again this year. We invite council and their spouses and we'll make sure and invite the Milshi fire department as well. The next thing we need to do is set a budget a date for the budget work session. We typically do that I think on the July meeting. Is that something you want to do again? The July meeting will be on the 14th. Yes, sir. You guys all good with doing that following that meeting? Yep. Sounds good to me. I think that's all I have for administrative reports. Does the council have any remarks? I got a call about a citizen that got a letter in the mail that his lot was not kept up properly. Uhhuh. And he was mad about the letter. The letter they got for $10 was it was the certified mail letter. Cost $10 to send it, I guess. But if I'm not mistaken, they get a couple of warnings before we send the $10 mail letter. Is that right? That's correct. They are um given attached to their door a couple of times, a few paper warnings basically. He called me aggravated. He goes, "I got a cell phone. I got a door. If y'all want to send a police officer to my house, whatever. Just let me know before you spend my money. Send me a certified mail. Sure. And we're just taking the But apparently had been
warned a couple times prior to that. Is that correct? And we're just following the procedures that we have in place for that. We probably had tried to get a hold of him before, but I do understand that the cost of the letter is through taxpayer money is pretty substantial. So that's the only reason he is upset. Yeah, for sure. And I completely agree that certified mail should be $10. Yeah, if there was but if there was, you know, prior attempts to get in contact with you. Yeah. And he's more than welcome to come in and and visit with us about it and see if we can handle that. For sure. All right. I think uh maybe we'll move into our work session. Yes, sir. Is that good with everybody? Yes. All right. Crystal, did you want to begin with what you had for the work session? Yes. So, um, yellow, are you staying live for the work session? I think so. Yeah. Because we have it in the middle of the meeting. We can't We're not going to end the That's fine. I was just asking. I didn't know. Yeah, I think we'll since it's on the agenda, we'll go ahead and keep on with it the public. Good. Good to me. Okay. So, um, I reached out to the our civic center here just in case we have bad weather that day to see if they would allow us to be in there. That way, we don't have to cancel. So, that is reserved for us. If I mean, we'll let you know, Ramon and Tamara make the call. If we do see that happening, then we will move over there. So, the big area at the civic center is reserved for us that day. And the second thing that I did get us is volunteers. So, United has a volunteer um a youth group program that they do. So, I was able to get three to four volunteers to do setup and three to four volunteers to do cleanup. So, um they'll be out there. So, we'll just I mean I'll be out there, too, but we'll have some direction, you know, on what to give them to do. So, I don't think we'll have to use city workers. So, I'm happy about that. I think um along those lines, if you'll let them
know. I don't know. Did you already tell them a time to set up and clean up? Um I think I said like around noon. I just said following the event. So, I said 12. Um Okay. And then 5 is the times I gave them. Okay, that works. Okay. Yeah. Do you want something different? No, I was thinking about 11:30 and 5:30, but that is noon and 5 is great. Okay, I think that works. Um, we have lined up made arrangements for the tables to be brought over so that they can set those up and and help clean up with those as well. So, I think that's taken care of. So, we'll have plenty of that. Anything else that you had? Where do like the citizens, where should they park? Just in that overflow. We will have them park in the overflow parking for this event. We're going to have the vendor spots marked off in the regular parking lot. We're going to have their spots marked off. At this time, we have six that will be there, local vendors that will be there. I did tell them to be there by 11:00. That's what most of them were needing to be able to serve by 1:00. So, expect them there around 11:00 is what we have. We have a special spot marked off for what the DJ will need to get set up and going and plenty of time for that. So otherwise, it's first come. I did tell the vendors that it's first come, first serve to get a spot, but they'll need to set up at 11:00. Is there going to be somebody there handling? We will vendor traffic. Yes, we will. And then I think some I think I read a comment on the Facebook page about or about having like a dance floor set up or something that that somebody did ask. set up. I had not made arrangements for a dance board to be set up, but they are welcome to dance wherever they can dance. Okay. So, that would just be like is the is he setting up on top of the in the thing, right? So, it would just be like right in front of the He can um he's going to set up in the stage and then they can of course set up in their chairs or dance or whatever in front of the stage would be great. The only other
thing is the chamber is going to I think I talked to you about the community impact board. They're going to set up a table with a QR code pretty much polling and GA and gathering some data of what the citizens would like to see. If they would like to see some more activities like this or if they would like to see something else going on, able to scan a QR code and take that survey or they can do it by paper there that same day also. So, we're kind of partnering up with them to to get some data on what citizens of Mili would like. We'll have trash cans and all that good stuff. We have made arrangements. We will have the trash cans out that we use for movie in the park. We'll make sure and set those out. Will we have any like canopies or covered sections at all? We do not have any canopies planned to be set up. People are more than welcome to bring their canopies, but we don't have those set up. I know that the booth or the table set up for that QR code through the chamber. They will have canopies there, but they will also have two people there manning that station. So that's not something that we'll have to worry about taking care of. I think does anybody have anything else? We appreciate you guys heading all this up. No problem. Juan, your department, all your help. Benny, Crystal, and Austin, too. You guys have all taken the lead on this. We plan on making small announcements through the fishing clinic that morning to for everybody to head over there afterwards. Be a good deal. Yeah, a little bit of advertisement. Did we ever get any flyers? I I do have flyers. I did post them online. online seems to be a huge, you know, resource for getting the word out and everything,
but I I can get some paper flyers to you to pass out. I just think of like maybe like the dollar store flyers or like the United, you know, sticking them off there. I can get you a handful of those printed out and drop them by sometime for you to post up there. Very good. Anything else you guys All right, I think we're journed.
