1:27 – 1:38Speaker 5

Thank you. Are there any no move on to approval of the agenda? Are there any requests for polio is reordered or move for discussion action?

1:41Speaker 4

I move that we approve the agenda. Second.

1:45 – 2:07Speaker 5

All right, I'll open public Any member of the public wishing to speak in person, turn in the speaker card. I'll see one member of the public willing to speak in person on 1C, I'm presuming. 1C. Pardon? I'm presuming 1C. Yeah. OK. We'll have three minutes.

2:09 – 4:56Speaker 3

Yes, I've been informed by the president of the board that you cannot, when you're talking about the agenda, you cannot talk about what's not on the agenda. So I'll talk about what's on the agenda. What's on the agenda is stuff that the superintendent has asked the board president to put on a special meeting just like the last special meeting you can have special meetings on anything that the superintendent convinces the president to go or anything that's a superintendent convinces three other members of the board should be called as a special meeting um things that the superintendent doesn't want to put on the agenda Guess what? You can call a special meeting. Things that you've campaigned on, that you say you're supporting, that the superintendent wants to suppress, you can put that on a special meeting. And you can call a special meeting during the middle of the summer and discuss those unmentionables, right? I guess I can't. Can I mention the unmentionables, Charles? Unmatchable is like, what was the actual result of the D3 results of how our kids are doing at the end of the year? That was available. They didn't want to report on it. I think it's because it showed continued decline, especially for economic disadvantage. What does the superintendent not want to discuss? The superintendent in educational services doesn't want to discuss the Orenda report, particularly pages 56 and 58. That isn't on this agenda. It will never be on any special agenda because the superintendent obviously does not want to discuss issues of inequality in placement in middle schools. That will never come up, Charles, until you get some gonads. And you say, listen, I campaigned on equity, and we're not seeing it. We're seeing, what does it say? Inequities is what Arenda said. So I worship people who would say, oh, I'm campaigning on equity. equity. It's important for me to see other trustees, Lisa. Don't drop it. You're dropping the ball, Lisa. But Charles is the only single person who by himself can put a special agenda, make a special meeting, put either one or two of those items on that special agenda. Thank you.

4:57Speaker 5

Thank you, Mr. Nelson. Vote for approval of the agenda. All those in favor?

5:06 – 5:26Speaker 5

All opposed? Motion passes unanimously with Trustee Reid absent. Now move to discussion and action item 2A. This will be equipment mechanic position.

5:28Speaker 2

Staff is bringing the job description for the equipment mechanic position. Um, this will allow us to hire, uh, over the summer and hopefully avoid some contractor costs.

5:40 – 6:01Speaker 5

No return to the board for clarifying questions. And that open public comment on item to a member of the public wishing to speak in person, you can turn in a speaker card. Item two, equipment mechanic position. Let me allocate one speaker in person. I'll give three minutes.

6:02 – 7:07Speaker 3

I don't use up that much. Yeah, this is an example of the kind of things that the superintendent wants to have put in. It didn't get done earlier. I'm not quite sure why this position, I guess it's changing what it is, but that's the kind of thing that maybe makes sense to have a special meeting item uh and of course you know as long as you have a quorum which is three trustees you can have a special meeting that's what the law is you can call a special meeting well it's a little more complicated actually you have to give notice in writing and so uh this is the kind of thing since you guys are around for the summer and willing to come in makes sense uh i'm glad to see the human resources is doing a better job about keeping the job positions updated because um i'll have I actually have a comment for the HR after this meeting about some problems with the definition of what teachers on special assignment is, whether they're classroom teachers or not. Thank you.

7:09 – 7:20Speaker 5

Thank you. Per the agenda, I also was meant to call for online comments. Do we see any? Okay. And I'll return to the board for discussion and potential action.

7:22Speaker 4

I move that the Board of Trustees approve the new equipment mechanic job description.

7:35 – 7:48Speaker 5

All those in favor? Aye. All opposed? Motion passes unanimously with those present. Trustee Reid is absent. Next, we'll move on to item 2B, Memorandum of Understanding.

7:50 – 8:04Speaker 2

Staff is bringing forward the MOU with CSEA for negotiations of classified layoffs. The major piece included in the MOU is providing health insurance for one additional month for the month of July for our employees that we needed to lay off.

8:07 – 8:30Speaker 5

Thank you. Any clarifying questions from the board? Seeing none, I'll return for open public comment on this item, this item 2B. Any member of the public in person wishing to speak, please turn in a speaker card. Any member online, use the raise hand function. I'll wait to see how many speakers we have. Seeing no one in person and no one online, I'll return to the board for discussion and potential action.

8:32 – 8:47Speaker 1

And make a motion to approve the memory of understanding between the mountain view has been school district and the California school employees association and its chapter focused on 188 12 impacts and effects of classified layoffs.

8:50Speaker 5

All those in favor? Aye. All opposed? Motion passes unanimously with a treaty read absent.

8:57Speaker 4

All right, thank you.

8:58 – 9:23Speaker 5
