1:12:36 – 1:13:38Speaker 1

Yes. uh very excited to uh introduce to you uh two principles that will be joining Mount View Wisman School District after a a lengthy process of um multiple rounds of interviews. I'm sure they can attest to um we have found two just fantastic um school administrators to join our team. Um and really excited what they're going to be bringing to our district, mostly for the the the students uh at our schools. Um, so with that, I'd like to introduce um Carly Stern, who is going to be the incoming principal at Vargas Elementary. So, welcome, Carly. And, uh, Amy Malcolm will be joining us as the principal at Graham Middle School, joining the administrative team there. So, I want to say welcome to Amy also. So, with that, that's all I have on that. Thank you.

1:13:34 – 1:14:00Speaker 1

Any clarifying questions from trustees? Uh now open public comment on this item. Uh any member of the public wishing to speak in person, turn in a speaker card. Online, use the raise hand function. I'll wait to see how many speakers we have. Seeing none, I'll return to the board for discussion. Trusty Conley.

1:13:58 – 1:14:56Speaker 1

Thank you. You know, I'm I'm so excited to welcome both of you here. I know our whole board is and and our staff. I also want to thank all of the parents and staff members who engaged in what was it four rounds of interviews um and gave input on the process. So um all around we are we are thrilled to be filling these positions with such high quality candidates and again thank you appreciative of all of the work that the community did to help choose these um new principles for our schools. Yeah. Well, um, uh, I'm looking forward to seeing you on Vargas campus, so I won't be at Graham, but I'll see you probably pretty regularly at drop off for for at least a while now. Um, and also want to thank the our interimm principles for stepping up while we needed new principles there. So, I think uh, it's all really excited to have permanent principles. So, thank you.

1:14:55 – 1:15:18Speaker 1

Great. Thank you. Thanks to the both of you coming tonight. All right. Now, move to discussion on action item 6B, board letter of support for the four bill close the achievement gap leg legislative package. Uh, Superintendent Bear, do you want to introduce this?

1:15:14 – 1:16:30Speaker 1

Yes. So, this is um a legislative uh package. There is an effort to uh I'll read from the agenda here to this for the state to establish clear goals, measurable benchmarks and transparent reporting to track progress and improving outcomes for California students. Um this is really about aligning the multiple um assessments and measurement tools that are in place by the state of California that have been put in place and uh layered on top of one another often. Um, but it's really to bring some clarity that'll allow us to do our jobs just a little bit better. Clarifying questions from board. Right. Any members of the public wishing to speak? No one online. All right. Seeing none, now return to discussion and potential action. Um I think just for for clar I think you know it was a fortunate coincidence that we had a special meeting scheduled between when uh the deadline for for the letter of support came through. We also had the opportunity to in in our individual capacity submit letters as well but I think it's always stronger when it comes from the the full board. So,

1:16:30 – 1:17:23Speaker 1

and you know I think the public if they're interested in this they're welcome to read the letter which outlines um the four bill package that CSBA is um bringing forward this legislative season. The impetus for having the letter voted on tonight is that um the first hearing on this four bill package is on April 8th and um CSBA is trying to um include lots of district and trustee input in the analysis that they upload for the committee to review and they need that information by Wednesday. So, it it was fortuitous that we have a meeting this evening. And with that, I make a motion that the board um approved sending this letter of support for the four bill legislative package.

1:17:23 – 1:17:49Speaker 1

Second. All those in favor? I I all opposed. Motion passes unanimously with Trusty Lambert absent. Um yeah, I think it's just generally I think these are good aligning at the state level down to the hard work we all do here. So I'm really really eager to see what the the legislature puts forward. Thank you for agendaizing it.

1:17:49 – 1:18:10Speaker 1
