The mid-block pedestrian signals, or MPS, is a traffic control device that functions like a regular traffic signal at a mid-block crossing location. The MPS operates as a standard semi-actuated traffic control signal, but instead of the typical solid red indication, the MPS will display a flashing red indication during the pedestrian clearance interval. How to use. Pedestrians. The pedestrian signal can be activated by pressing the button when a person arrives at the intersection and wishes to cross the street. Pedestrians should wait for the walk signal to appear before attempting to cross and should only initiate the crossing when it is safe to do so, making sure vehicles have fully stopped behind the stop bar. As pedestrians proceed through the crossing, a countdown will indicate the remaining time to complete the crossing. If pedestrians arrive at the signal to cross after the countdown has started, do not cross. Please press the button to activate the cycle and wait for the walking signal indication. Drivers Drivers should pay attention to the light change on the signal. If the signal shows a green light, it means that drivers can proceed normally. If it changes to a red light, they should stop at the stop bar pavement marking. When the red light is flashing, it means drivers must come to a complete stop. Then, look both ways and proceed with caution if no pedestrians are present at the crossing. The MPS is intended to ensure safety at pedestrian crossing.

We decided to go into the restaurant business with the love of food that we had. It was my parents, my husband and I who bought the restaurant and eventually we also bought the property. I come from a family that cooks and actually Greeks, that's how we show our love, you know? You come to our house and it's always, what, do you want to eat something? No, I don't want to. Oh, but you must eat, you know? We've had many, many compliments over the years. The other day, actually, a couple came and his fiance is from Colombia. She says to him, I want ask you something, ask for the owner. I was here and I said, yes, how can I help you? She said, you know, my fiance is Greek. He lived in Dubai. He lived in Greece. He lived everywhere. And he said, I'm going to take you to the Greek restaurants in Miami. And then he brings me here last. He says, well, how come this is the best Greek restaurant? He brings me here last. That's what I want to find out. I said, what do you do different? I said, it's really home cooking. You have to understand the Greek cuisine is between Middle Eastern and Italy. So the influence is both from the Middle East and from Italy because we're right in the middle. The Turkish cuisine and the Greek cuisine also very similar. So we serve all the Mediterranean seafood dishes and of course we have the meat, we have the lamb, you know, because if you don't eat anything, you must eat lamb. This is our trio dip. We have the eggplant spread, the caviar spread, and of course the hummus. This is the saganaki, comes flambé, and it's a yellow cheese. It's called kasseri. We have the traditional khoriatiki salata, village salad. If we were to say what would be the most authentic Greek dish, it would be this one right here, shrimp saganaki. We have the pastitsio and the moussaka. Our spinach pie is absolutely fantastic. Delicious. The pita bread of course goes with everything and then we have the meat dish and we have the traditional oven baked lemon potatoes which everybody loves. They said, I have people who said, I never thought that you could make potatoes. We thought that we knew all the ways potatoes were made. Now we know another one. Now we've served Miami, I think some of the, I mean, it's my restaurant, but I think some of the best Greek food that exists in Miami. We love to share our culture and Miami has been good to us and to our family and God bless Miami. We love it.

We're excited to launch 10 cooling centers throughout the city this extreme heat season. Our extreme heat season starts May 1st and ends October 31st. Cooling centers are a place where people can come to cool down on extremely hot days. The Opportunity Zone has created and catalyzed billions of dollars of investment in our city. And it's something that we're going to highlight here throughout this conference.

The city of Miami used to be one of the poorest cities in America. And over the last 20 years, we have fought and worked to change that. And it's all come as a result of our engagement with the federal government and things like opportunity zones and public private partnerships to provide for housing, public infrastructure, and just making our overall community better.

It's important for people to be able to acquire affordable rentals and affordable housing

Since 2018, the city of Miami has developed 44 developments that are 100 units or more, creating over 15,000 housing units with $3.1 billion in investment capital. And so for us, it's been an economic stimulus.

This is extremely beneficial to the entire city of Miami, Miami-Dade County and to Florida. And it is an extreme honor to be here today and to have all of this opportunity for us.

One day like this, in Bahía de Cochino, the best generation of Cuban youth, the vast majority were not military, they were trained in bases here. All they wanted was to liberate our homeland.

For us it is essential, every April 17th, to recognize the names of each one of those men who gave their lives for freedom, fighting on Playa Girón. We cannot forget that. We are here today, in the second of two meetings we had of the Brigada 2506, to give a mass here in memory of all

men who fought in that battle and this Mass was important, important because above all we are giving them that honor that they deserve so much.

This Mass closes days of commemoration of the invasion and the most important thing is to remember the martyrs who gave their lives for Cuba to be free.

The Mass is always a reminder for those who are martyrs, those who fell in battle, those who fell in combat, those who were shot when they were captured. That's what it's about. First, to call their names and say present, which is the commitment to remember them and to continue fighting for a Cuba League.

Raul Rudman immigrated to Miami over 60 years ago and created this legacy of the family and the business located right here in the city of Miami, District 5. And to honor families who have given such a big contribution to our community is one of the joys of being a public servant.

the Goombay Festival. This is the biggest event for District 2. We focus on Goombay all year round. It is foundational for the city of Miami, but it's also very important to celebrate Bahamian culture because it's the character of our neighborhood.

This is the fourth year that we've been able to bring Goombay back, and it's been such a great success. The Bahamian people play a big role in making sure this stays a part of what's happening here in Miami.

We are all about keeping our culture alive in the area. And we're very grateful to the city of Miami. And we're looking forward to a successful Miami Bahamas Gumby Festival 2025.

It's an honor for me to be here with my staff, my family, to honor Guillermo Revuelta for all that he's contributed throughout the years. He was in the army, a lot of people don't know that, and then from there he became a pastor 25 years ago. When I was asked to do this for him, it was just an honor for me to do it and a privilege.

Reverend Guillermo has been such a tremendous asset to our community, providing guidance greater than anything that we can ask for.

I feel very good and very grateful to so many people. Mainly, serving is a privilege. We must be grateful to God because that means that we have health and peace. And remember one thing that is very important to me, learn those three words, please, grace and forgiveness.

This is called Luther Campbell Way. And the reason why it's called Luther Campbell Way is because we want to recognize the way that Luther Campbell impacted our community. He's the real deal. He impacted so many lives.

This is a small token of our appreciation for your contribution to not just our District 5, not just the City of Miami, but to the grander picture.

When I think about the things that he was able to accomplish in his life, thank you, Luke, for the time that you poured in all of us and giving us the Liberty City Warrior pride that we all deserve.

So basically as you can see we have an intersection here within a residential neighborhood and what we want to let everyone know is to please, if you live mid-block or if you're visiting the area, don't cross mid-block. Use these intersections, as you can see here, to cross from one side to another. We've seen too many accidents, too many fatalities. We don't want to see another one. So basically, we just want everyone within the city of Miami to do the right thing, cross at the appropriate area, cross at the crosswalks and utilize them. Somebody just got shot on the motorcycle. There's a group of motorcycles on the freeway, and they just shot somebody.

Today, our lead investigator is going to cover a census homicide that occurred on October 23, 2022, in the Model City neighborhood.

My name is Detective Miguel Medina of the City of Miami Police Department Homicide Unit. On Sunday, October 23rd, 2022, the city of Miami received an 911 call regarding a male shot on I-95 southbound. Just a few feet south of the Northwest 79th Street exit. When officers arrived, they located Mr. Oscar Garcia, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Garcia, whose friends affectionately called Lulu, would eventually succumb to his injuries. Our investigation revealed that Mr. Oscar Garcia was riding with a large group of other dirt bike riders. The group was riding dirt bikes southbound on I-95. After passing the Northwest 79th Street exit, the suspect approached Mr. Garcia and began firing. The suspect is described as a slim black male who was riding a orange and white KTM dirt bike with Red Bull logos on the front and on the side of the dirt bike. We have been working diligently to solve this case, and we are now asking for your help. Any information, no matter how big or small, will be helpful.

I'm Nicolas Cotto, the manager of El Capitan, a Miami fishing staple since 1973. We've been serving the community for years, making us a true Miami icon. My grandparents came from Cuba in the 80s. They went to New York, and they wanted to look for something better. So they moved down to Miami, and they always had a passion and love for fishing. He opened up El Capitan to be able to do his dream and open up a bait and tackle store for the Hispanic computing. I work with my dad and two uncles. My grandmother comes in every so often as well, and it's a family business, and it's great.

I was born pretty much in the business. Business started in 73. I was born in 72. My mother and my father started it. They loved boing on a boat. They loved fishing. So they started a small business and it went growing.

We pretty much supply everything but the boat and the motors. We carry everything from fiberglass to build your boat. If you want to rebuild your boat, we carry all the fishing hooks, fishing lures. And we try to be able to cater to everybody that if they want to do freshwater fishing, saltwater fishing, or be able to put on some fishing stuff or just speakers and stuff like that to be able to have a good time at the sandbar.
