Good morning. This is March 3rd or March 2nd um 2026. If you would all rise and we'll have a prayer and pledge to allegiance. Dear Lord, we thank you for this day. We thank you for the sunny day that you gave us. Lord, we ask for your guidance and wisdom as we go along and just help us to represent the people of this county. Lord, we give you thanks for people like Carrie that have dedicated several years of service and we just appreciate that and just be with him in his retirement. First thing we have on the agenda and uh this person is not here today. They said they would not come in, but they would uh accept this on Monday. So, it's uh Miami County Highway Department 27 years of service January 19th, 1999 through March 9th, 2026. And that's awarded to Mitch Summers. Uh he is retiring. And we'd like for the board of commissioners to sign a date to this certificate for it, please. And those of you that don't know, Mitch was our head mechanic. Uh he can work on a lot of the old stuff, the new stuff, and he can fix about anything. So, we do appreciate his years of service for us. So, the next one is dated today's date. And I've got a little uh it's a document to request board of commissioners. So I'll just read it and then you can decide if you're going to sign this or not. So Gary was 26 years old the day he was hired. He ran county equipment with pride and desire. When the snow piled high and the night turned black, Carrie fired up the excavator to push the drifts back. Even on holidays, Carrie had to work, leaving his wife and two little ones asleep in their cozy nook. Many more years passed by, and assistant foreman he became. He shoveled cold patch and stone and sometimes used some colorful slang. Onto the next promotion, south foreman he rose. He knew how to pave and chip and sail the roads. Though sometimes grumpy about equipment breakdowns, they always got fixed. We managed somehow. Finally, it happened. One day, he accepted the position of superintendent,

though sometimes he regretted. It was hard. It was The work was hard and repairing roads was endless, but would carry around, it was not such a menace. As a final request request, Carrie would like to retire and never ever have to wear highway department attire. So, if the commissioners will approve and sign this request, we'll move forward and wish him the best. And even if I had to give you directions when you got north of the rivers, but and I knew that was coming. But we've done a lot more up north than we usually have. I'll tell you that. And it's appreciated. But I always felt that it did get neglected sometimes. I put a date on there. I put the date in because that's You didn't have to date until Friday.

Um, good morning. I'm here to represent EP estates for our solid waste. Um, we had received a late notice for last year because we had taken over the property. We weren't aware of the charges, but we are aware and now and we want to make last year's payment and this year's payment, but we're requesting for the late fee to be removed. That would need to be at a solid waste meeting. They told me to come here. I don't know. No, that would be up to solid waste. You can't make that decision for them. Yeah. No, not a problem. Do you have maybe a time for that? be two weeks from today at 11 o'clock in this room. Okay.

Thank you. Then we'll come back to the Sandy Chidum item. Um, next we have a we have an estimate from M MC contracting for the German Street building and they will be the quote is for removal of a loft. The pole barn needs all new wiring, which we knew that ahead of time. and he's going to insulate it and line it and then bore a water line from the hydrant to the uh inside the building so they can wash the um ambulances and few other minor incidentals. But and then he's going to install a kitchen sink and cabinets. So they have a little kitchenet set. The grand total of his estimate would be $24,459. So I will need an approval. And just so people know, this was budgeted when we asked for the money. We are going to be well under our estimate of what it was going to cost, which is great.

Also, we are working with Park View for a lease on the property. um was hoping to sign that this morning. I talked to our lawyer a little bit ago and apparently the deed is not in our name or something. Do you know, Jim? No. Um Mark was supposed to be working on a deed for us to transfer to the county. Okay.

But I haven't seen a copy of it. So yeah, correct. I mean, the propertyy's still in our name. Okay. But if you need us to do an interim lease, I don't know how quick Park View wants access. If you need us to write the lease until they wanted it as of Friday,

I mean, we can we can make that happen if if Mark's got a template he wants to use or the easiest thing is for us to just transfer the property over to the county. Well, in a text he's working on that and he's also got the lease agreement from Park View and we were out there Friday and it never dawned on me, but there's no electricity which makes sense. The former owner shut everything off. So, Park View is going to get a hold of Peru Utilities. They are paying the utilities so they will turn the power on and Mark is working on a lease. I guess I would ask for permission to sign the contract when Mark gets the [snorts] deed finalized and the contract finalized so we can turn that over to Park View. And I hope they're in there by our next meeting. Just a clarification, you're talking Mark France, the attorney. Mark, the attorney.

I hope I'm not being counted on for any of that. Yeah, you're going to write the lease. Now, we've we already had a copy of the lease. It needs to spread it over. Well, I'll make that motion.
