First thing we have on the agenda and uh this person is not here today. They said they would not come in, but they would uh accept this on Monday. So, it's uh Miami County Highway Department 27 years of service January 19th, 1999 through March 9th, 2026. And that's awarded to Mitch Summers. Uh he is retiring. And we'd like for the board of commissioners to sign a date to this certificate for it, please. And those of you that don't know, Mitch was our head mechanic. Uh he can work on a lot of the old stuff, the new stuff, and he can fix about anything. So, we do appreciate his years of service for us. So, the next one is dated today's date. And I've got a little uh it's a document to request board of commissioners. So I'll just read it and then you can decide if you're going to sign this or not. So Gary was 26 years old the day he was hired. He ran county equipment with pride and desire. When the snow piled high and the night turned black, Carrie fired up the excavator to push the drifts back. Even on holidays, Carrie had to work, leaving his wife and two little ones asleep in their cozy nook. Many more years passed by, and assistant foreman he became. He shoveled cold patch and stone and sometimes used some colorful slang. Onto the next promotion, south foreman he rose. He knew how to pave and chip and sail the roads. Though sometimes grumpy about equipment breakdowns, they always got fixed. We managed somehow. Finally, it happened. One day, he accepted the position of superintendent,

3:35 – 4:25Speaker 1

though sometimes he regretted. It was hard. It was The work was hard and repairing roads was endless, but would carry around, it was not such a menace. As a final request request, Carrie would like to retire and never ever have to wear highway department attire. So, if the commissioners will approve and sign this request, we'll move forward and wish him the best. Barry Worl 40 years nine months of service hired 64 1985 retired 36 2026 Miami County Board of Commissioners Fred Musleman Brenda Weaver Mark Porner requester is Carrie World superintendent [laughter] and his official release from work date is March 6, 2026. So if you want to re approve this document

4:26 – 5:11Speaker 1

well our lawyer is a present I don't know if this is legal or not [laughter] we are yeah this would be sign before are we able to do that legal depends whether there's a motion and a second I guess I don't know if I'm comfortable letting him retire I I do have one question for the audience. Mary, did you ever get your ride in the snow cloud? No. Well, there you go. But he did bring me several diet coats, so I'm gonna let that let that ride. Oh, okay. I guess we can. You forgot one thing. Oh, and the fudge. There you go,

5:12 – 5:56Speaker 1

Gary. Is that pretty accurate to your years of work? Yeah, I do remember when you were asked to be the superintendent. It was under one condition. Do you remember that condition? Oh, God. No, I do. If I don't like it, can I just go back to be it a foreman? Must have liked it. All right. It's a lot. I want to thank everybody. I move that we And I'll second. There's been a motion and a second for the commissioners to sign this uh requester. All in favor say I.

5:56 – 6:34Speaker 1

I. I reluctantly. Thanks, Lord. Appreciate that. Harry, we do appreciate your years of service and I have a gift for you. I was going to count out 40 and two spoons, but my wife suggested that the truck may not be real clean, but you can dump the M&M's in there and you can dump them out before we probably meet. Okay, but I will say this, and my wife is probably listening. She says, "I don't know. Is Carrie worth that much?"

6:32 – 7:17Speaker 1

Oh, I hope she's listening because I'll be looking out for her. Sorry threw you under the bus, but then she decided, yes, you're definitely worth it. But thank you for your years of service. You got to sign it or it's not legal. It see And I have appreciated you and I've enjoyed working with you. And even if I had to give you directions when you got north of the rivers, but and I knew that was coming. But we've done a lot more up north than we usually have. I'll tell you that. And it's appreciated. But I always felt that it did get neglected sometimes. I put a date on there. I put the date in because that's You didn't have to date until Friday.

7:16 – 7:46Speaker 1

That's right. Friday's your last official. Yeah. And I do appreciate it. Like I said, it did raise my family. Yeah. Well, congratulations. Retirement's pretty cool. Thank you. And like I told the guys at work, I'm not going anywhere. I'll be right. I still have your number and a lot of other people do too. And thank you all. Thank you.

7:49 – 8:13Speaker 1

Okay. Um Sandy is not here. Is there someone in Sandy's place? Hi. Just me. Okay. Got my board. Hi, good morning.

8:11 – 8:55Speaker 1

Um, good morning. I'm here to represent EP estates for our solid waste. Um, we had received a late notice for last year because we had taken over the property. We weren't aware of the charges, but we are aware and now and we want to make last year's payment and this year's payment, but we're requesting for the late fee to be removed. That would need to be at a solid waste meeting. They told me to come here. I don't know. No, that would be up to solid waste. You can't make that decision for them. Yeah. No, not a problem. Do you have maybe a time for that? be two weeks from today at 11 o'clock in this room. Okay.

8:54 – 9:35Speaker 1

So that would be So that's the every other Yeah. 16. All right. I appreciate it. I'll see you guys then. Okay. Thank you. Do you have anything from Sandy? We got something. It's a bill for those. I left it up on my left on my desk for her. It's just the invoice. The thing you just have to wait you got to approve it. It's like 600, right? Yeah, I sent it to you. I I do have it. I wasn't prepared for you to say my name either. I didn't know you knew I was coming. [laughter]

9:36 – 9:48Speaker 1

I walked down and left it off my desk. Do you have the email? I will have I'll wait. So you'll be okay. No, you'll just have to come to the solid. Okay. Thank you.

9:46 – 11:12Speaker 1

Thank you. Then we'll come back to the Sandy Chidum item. Um, next we have a we have an estimate from M MC contracting for the German Street building and they will be the quote is for removal of a loft. The pole barn needs all new wiring, which we knew that ahead of time. and he's going to insulate it and line it and then bore a water line from the hydrant to the uh inside the building so they can wash the um ambulances and few other minor incidentals. But and then he's going to install a kitchen sink and cabinets. So they have a little kitchenet set. The grand total of his estimate would be $24,459. So I will need an approval. And just so people know, this was budgeted when we asked for the money. We are going to be well under our estimate of what it was going to cost, which is great.

11:09 – 11:51Speaker 1

And I'll make motion to accept that. Second. Okay, we got a motion and accept second to accept MC's bid on the German Street building. All in favor say I. I. I. Also, we are working with Park View for a lease on the property. um was hoping to sign that this morning. I talked to our lawyer a little bit ago and apparently the deed is not in our name or something. Do you know, Jim? No. Um Mark was supposed to be working on a deed for us to transfer to the county. Okay.

11:48 – 12:11Speaker 1

But I haven't seen a copy of it. So yeah, correct. I mean, the propertyy's still in our name. Okay. But if you need us to do an interim lease, I don't know how quick Park View wants access. If you need us to write the lease until they wanted it as of Friday,

12:09 – 13:10Speaker 1

I mean, we can we can make that happen if if Mark's got a template he wants to use or the easiest thing is for us to just transfer the property over to the county. Well, in a text he's working on that and he's also got the lease agreement from Park View and we were out there Friday and it never dawned on me, but there's no electricity which makes sense. The former owner shut everything off. So, Park View is going to get a hold of Peru Utilities. They are paying the utilities so they will turn the power on and Mark is working on a lease. I guess I would ask for permission to sign the contract when Mark gets the [snorts] deed finalized and the contract finalized so we can turn that over to Park View. And I hope they're in there by our next meeting. Just a clarification, you're talking Mark France, the attorney. Mark, the attorney.

13:08 – 13:35Speaker 1

I hope I'm not being counted on for any of that. Yeah, you're going to write the lease. Now, we've we already had a copy of the lease. It needs to spread it over. Well, I'll make that motion. We'll second. Been a motion and a second to give me authority to sign the contract with Park View on the lease of the German Street buildings. All in favor say I. I.

13:33 – 14:44Speaker 1

I. So, next is Sandy Chidum. This is for the planters. They hang up around the courthouse. Thought she was coming. And of course it doesn't want to load. Well, I saw the email. What's that? I have a quote here from 7 786. Oh, please.

14:42 – 15:15Speaker 1

And I will make a motion to approve this purchase for $786.90. Second. Then a motion and a second for what' you say? 786.90.8 $786.90 90 for the planners to be hung up around the courthouse. All in favor say I. I. I. Sorry, I couldn't bring that up for some reason. We have minutes.

15:18 – 15:57Speaker 1

Make a motion to approve the minutes. Second. Been a motion and a second to approve the minutes. All in favor say I. I. I. We have claims payloads. I had claims. I make a motion we approve approve the claims. Second. A motion and a second to approve the claims. All say all in favor say I.

15:53 – 16:35Speaker 1

I. I. We have payroll. Make a motion to approve payroll. Second. Got a motion and a second to approve payroll. All in favor say I. I. Annette. What else do you have for us? Jim, did you have something? Yes, sir. Just real quick, if I could. Um, Gary, uh, I didn't know this was happening today. you are going to be recognized, but congratulations on your retirement.

16:33 – 17:17Speaker 1

Uh, thanks for all your support to the community over the years. Thanks to your support for economic development. If I would have known, we would have had this check cut out to Carrie World. But unfortunately, of course, it's got to go to the treasurer, but it's for $105,522.50, which is a reimbursement for the Eagle Cemetery, okay, road project. So thank you. Thank you very much. Otherwise, it could have been present, but you have to happy with it. You have to commission. Did you make who did you make it out to? Okay. I'll have to give you the account of deposit that. Sounds good.

17:14 – 17:59Speaker 1

Um Okay. And I'll follow. You're welcome to come anytime if you're going to be doing this. Well, thank you for the interlocal agreement. the time to get that. Thank you very much. Appreciate that. Thank you, Jim. I have a question. How close are they up to running out there? Are they going to get a um venue going out? Yeah, they're working on I think Russ is uh or they're planning on concessions and restrooms to be constructed soon. We're still waiting for one other piece of screen to go over the lift station and that project will be

17:55 – 18:21Speaker 1
