City Council Committee - Regular Meeting

I'd like to call the Parks and Environmental Committee meeting to order. Could we please have a roll call?

Present. Colleagues, we have four items on the agenda. These are all items that we have approved previously, and it's a request to actually fund them. I'd like to go in reverse order, so I'm gonna call item number four, a resolution to approve the allocation and appropriation of $3,389,000 for FY2027 CIP Goose Park Improvements, project number PK, to be determined, contract construction. This is District 7, Super District 8, sponsored by administration. Moved by Ford, seconded by our chairwoman, and the floor is yours, Director Bolden.

Justice Bolden, 2599 Avery. This particular resolution is a federal match grant of $3.389 million for Gooch Park.

Do we have any questions from colleagues? If not, all those in favor, please say aye. Aye. Any opposed? Chairs, an aye. Then the Premier and Chair, that passes for the same nine minutes. We're going to try to do the same nine minutes for all of these to get the work started. OK. Item number three is a resolution to approve the allocation and appropriation of funds of $200,000. For FY2027, CIP, Glenview Park Aquatic Facility, project number PK to be determined contract construction. This is Super District 8, District 4, sponsored by administration. Moved by Chairwoman, seconded by Councilman Canale. You have the floor, sir.

Okay, for this particular project, the $200,000 allows us to begin demolition of the building we recently acquired at the corner of Barksdale and Lamar as a part of the Glenview Park Aquatic Facility, as well as topographics study that will occur during this fiscal year.

Okay, guys, item number two is the resolution to approve the allocation and appropriation of funds of $500,000 for FY2027 CIP Memphis Park security camera, project number PK to be determined fixtures. Furniture and Equipment, All-Council District. Sponsored by Administration and moved by Canale. Seconded by Chairwoman Swearingen-Washington. Go right ahead, Mr. Bolton.

Yeah, so for this particular project, Parks will be working alongside IT to install security cameras in park locations throughout the city. This will ensure we're enhancing security, and that's what we'll be working on in FY27.

And item number one, last item is the resolution to approve the allocation and preparation of funds of $4 million for FY2027 CIP Audubon Golf Clubhouse project number PK24107, contract construction. District 5, Seward District 9, sponsored by administration, moved by Ford, seconded by Squarington, Washington. You have the floor, Mr. Bolton.

So for FY27, the $4 million is a part of a 50-50 public-private partnership between the City of Memphis and the Tennessee Golf Foundation for the construction of the Audubon Golf Clubhouse, as well as driving range improvements across the way on Cherry. And so we're excited about this project, and construction should be starting in the next couple of days.

Thank you, Mr. Chairman. You'd already mentioned it, but I was going to ask for same-night minutes. It looks like you asked for same-night minutes for all four, which I'm in full agreement. But I just want to say thank you to the parks team for the work that you're doing and getting these projects going. It's much appreciated. Thank you, Mr. Chairman.

I'd like to echo that and say, you know, it's nice to be able to have the money get moving and get stuff going where people can see the benefits of this. Okay. All those in favor, please say aye.
