Bell County
Thursday, August 20, 2026

The City Council held a first reading and public hearing for the fiscal year 2027 tax rate, approving a 75-cent rate per $100 valuation, which is expected to decrease the average home's tax bill. They also approved a negotiated settlement for an Atmos Energy rate increase, resulting in a lower increase than originally proposed by the company.

RISHI, could you take one quick minute and explain the no new revenue tax rate? Yes.

12:28 – 13:30•Tim Davis

Doesn't mean that every home dropped that percentage, but I just think it's important that we take a minute to explain that. The reason why the, to collect the exact same amount would be the .7541. I mean, sorry, a difficult budget year and guiding and helping the council understand Uh, and, you know, given us all the information that we need to make these decisions that ultimately, uh, move the city in a positive direction
