And whereas our founders established a nation based on the enduring principles of liberty, equality, unalienable rights, and the pursuit of happiness guided by a vision that has inspired generations and fueled America's legacy of freedom, resilience, and democratic progress. Thank you, Mr. Mayor. It is such an incredible honor to serve as your chair of the Savannah 250 Committee. What an outstanding presentation and kickoff. Let's give it up for the mayor for helping us organize this. Ms. Huxley-Scott, that was incredible. And I want to take you back. I want to take you back to the same ground that we were standing on in 1775, because a full year before the Declaration of Independence, the Sons of Liberty raised the Liberty Pole right here in Savannah, a bare mass driven into the ground and a dare to an empire that we could be different. We were a colony on the ed

So everyone knows Panhandle Slim. If you don't know him, you have seen his work. And he has, we've commissioned from him two paintings that will reside in City Hall in commemoration of America's 250th. So these are new that he did just for us. If you know him, you know he wouldn't be here even if he could be here. He doesn't like this kind of stuff and he did have a real something to do. So we have his wife here, Tracy, and his son, Johnny. And so I wanted to give you a chance to say hello, and then we're going to unveil these two America 250 offerings. Thank you.
We have to figure out a way to turn them around so everybody can see them. Maybe you can hold them up and walk them around so everybody can see them. They're really light. They're really light. So you can probably just lift them up. Hold them in the leg with your help. There you go. So let me read them. Turn it around, please. Let me see that right there. Ma'am, let me see it so I can read it. Right here. There we go. This is a strong nation, like a strong person can afford to be gentle, firm, thoughtful and restrained. It can afford to extend a helping hand to others. It's a weak nation like

Thank you. Ma'am, you said they gave you a president.
Excuse me? You're talking about a neighborhood association president?
Right, in a corporate county, so it's probably not like situated like we have neighborhood associations.

Mr. Mayor. One moment. Is this aspirational or this is something we've committed to and has been committed to, Mr. Manager?
So you're still working on it? You're in communication?
Oh, thank you. Did I hear you say that you had a conversation with Ms. Hickey over here?
So what she's asking to me is, This to me sounds real simple because it sounds like you all are going to invest a whole lot of funds in that area by giving us a lift station and maybe a fire department and $500 per unit to our housing fund. If this lady is just asking for a 100-foot barrier, then that should not be a problem.
I mean buffer. That should not be a problem. So based on what she said, and she can correct me if I'm wrong, she hadn't spoken to anybody yet from what I think is what she said when she came up here. Am I correct, Ms. Hickey?
All right, we're going to go ahead. Okay.
Well, I'm just trying to make sure that she is, you know.
So maybe you all should get together and come up with a consensus. Like the mayor said, this is not something that we're voting on today. Yes, ma'am.

Mr. Mayor, while we were not voting on this, thank you for coming up and saying your piece. Because I believe it's important that he's already leaned in and made all of these really nice acquiescence for that area so I'm kind of confident that you're going to work something out whether it's the berm area well whatever is appropriate for that because she's talking about her home and not a commercial so we know there's a difference and so she's a president you're not gonna have to talk to a whole bunch of people he's a mayor so you should should be able to work that out.
