the first page that's correct yeah and members what we've historically done is where there naturally will be some variation between what one or more of the members have allocated towards a particular non-profit but what we've just done it's worked out for us pretty well in the past is we've identified the common denominator and gone with that so for example i think when respect to the first category the first uh organization here avda that would i believe so long as we can all go along with it the common denominator meaning the consensus would be 27 500 and we would do that down the line not j
Can I just make one point of clarification? And yes, I agree with that process. For all the people in the audience and at home watching, the numbers that are there, because we didn't put the date, usually what we end up doing is whatever they got last year, we kind of stay to whatever the number was so that we don't increase it. But this process has always been one of those that we should look at with more clarity, and we've talked about that. I'm leaving. Because we don't want to do tonight is strip someone from funding that they have gotten in the past and without any notice So now we have a
And I would follow on to say that historically, and this is going back many years, a new entity coming in and seeking funding has historically gotten $1,000. We don't give them 10 grand to start. We don't give them more than that, certainly. $1,000, get them in the door, and then it tends to take care of itself over time. So, Mr. Pearlman, are you okay with the allocations that I had mentioned? And I'm hoping we'll have to you emailed the entire list of all of the nonprofits with everyone Okay.
Great. So then are we all on the same page then as it relates to those three organizations, the first bucket? If so, I'll entertain a motion in a second to adopt those appropriations as outlined. $27,500 to AVDA, $20,000 to Mae Volan, $1,000 to Vets Helping Heroes.
Mayor Thompson, I move that we approve as you have just presented. I second. I second.
Very good. All those of us who are voting in favor of that, please say aye. Aye. Aye. Aye. I believe that has it. So that is the first bucket. Mr. Zervas, can you keep us going?
Very good, Mr. Zervas. Okay, to elaborate somewhat, I would suggest, and I believe staff is suggesting, we use the same rubric now. If three or more of us had settled on the same amount, then you'll see on the far right on the comment column there, it either says majority vote or unanimous vote. I think we can, because at least a consensus of us have agreed on allocations for all of those organizations, and there are dozens of them, I think we can... We can approve those at the whatever the majority of consensus amount is and then Really talk only talk about the three remaining ones where ther
OK, so that means, however, it's several dozen, Mr. Zervas, that just got. That's correct. Can we do we need a motion in a.
Very good. So then let's move to there are three organizations that did not have any consensus as to an allocation amount. The first one is community greening. It's on the second page of the legal size printout. Page number 95 on the left hand column is the indicator community greening. We had some for a thousand one for twenty three hundred and one for two thousand five hundred fifty two dollars. although i do note that uh deputy mayor grau didn't allocate any funding to this organization so members what is your pleasure on this this one is one that got allocated a thousand dollars last year
I mean, yes, I recommended 1000, but I don't mind doing maybe 1500. It's a smaller incremental but I did a thousand so we did last year they do a phenomenal job and they they're that's one of our big strategic things with green space and planting and free giveaway for the plants but maybe we go we meet them in the middle between the other the four of us we do like an average I think a fifteen hundred dollar allocation is good okay anyone else agree with that sentiment we need three
okay so that i think with mr perlman we can move this into a consensus column at fifteen hundred dollars that being for community greeting we have a couple more that do not have consensus and for these i note that these are first-time applicants and historically again we tend to only allocate a thousand dollars to first-time applicants this is one so the next one is item 132 friends of foster children of palm beach county They did not get funding in the past. I had suggested a thousand council member Drucker had suggested a thousand and we have offers of 2500 and 2000. What would you all like
Um, just to be fair, mean we could bump it to 1500 again because we did it for the other ones they never asked or oh they were awarded before last year sorry my bad I'm gonna get the wrong slot here usually we do a thousand that's been the norm but it doesn't mean we can't change it if somebody is feeling that um we should increase it is anyone willing to just give them a thousand and I include that in that group nascrow We had one, hold on a second, Mayor, give me a second. Yep. Two, three, we had three, three organizations, three, four that didn't apply, that they always get money and they j
For example, Gumball Limbaugh, we've got a big chunk, you know, so like that. So it was one, two, three, four, five. Does that mean we have to reallocate it all? But if we wanted to provide something, we can.
I mean I would just for the next two I will reiterate it the last time I'll say it is that they're both first-time applicants friends of foster children and homeless coalition of Palm Beach County historically we've always started folks off at a thousand I would propose that we offer we give them a thousand here they can come in and ask for more next year and trust me they will not getting a real warm and fuzzy response to that I'm checking my notes fine with that okay so if we allocate $1,000 to friends of foster children of Palm Beach County and to homeless coalition of Palm Beach County fro
So we continue to reduce and continue to tackle this big list.
while still giving out a significant number of dollars to our nonprofit partners.
Without still giving out half a million dollars to support our communities, correct. Thank you for that.
Okay, well, Mr. Zervas, could you read that total number again, please? And we'll just move and second and approve that.
okay great so i move that we adopt the non-profit appropriations in the amount as we just would discussed in the amount of five hundred two thousand eight hundred dollars is there a second second all those in favor of that allocation please say aye aye aye OK, so then you guys can staff can then incorporate that into our budget, which we will then vote on in a short period of time, right?
Thank you. Members, do we have any questions for staff?

Any further discussion? If not, Ms. Siddons, please. Can I just say som
Just because this is my last final budget hearing, I just want to thank Mr. Service, Mr. Sohaney, and the staff for all the hard work you did, not only on this year, but year to year, six years of budgets and sitting, and we always land on something good and something that is fiscally responsible. So just wanted to put my appreciation for staff. It doesn't go unnoticed. And thank you for providing this also to our residents.
So thank you, Mayor Thompson. Well said. Any further discussion? No. Ms. Sittons, please.
Very good, and that concludes our business for the evening. We have passed our budget and passed our millage rates, so I want to second the comments that Ms. Drucker just made with respect to the hard work put forward by our staff, led by Mr. Sohaney and Mr. Zervas, team at the OMB and Financial Services Department. Job well done, everybody. We'll see all you again next year at our next budget hearing in 2027, but until then, we will adjourn our meeting. The time is 6.05. Thank you, and good night.
