Planning Commission - Special Meeting

September 10th 2026 meeting of the North Miami special planning commission. Can we have a roll call please.

commissioner besson present we have a quorum okay um one of the things that the council has inserted that's not on the agenda is after the pledge of allegiance uh we're going to have election for the new chair correct council okay um can we um commissioner pierre could you lead us in the pledge of allegiance

BEFORE WE MOVE ON WITH THE REGULAR AGENDA, IT IS MY DISTINCT PRIVILEGE AND HONOR TO CELEBRATE A GENTLEMAN WHO HAS BEEN LONG-TERM CHAIRMAN OF THIS PLANNING COMMISSION. THERE'S A LOT OF THINGS THAT CAN BE SAID FOR CHAIRMAN ERNST. Not only his tenure as chairman, in which I think he gave such guidance and support, and I know that everybody has benefited and learned. As his being chairman, I think, as I said, everybody has learned a lot, because I thought that he was learned, thoughtful, considerate, and really had the best interests of the city always as a long time resident at his heart. A resolution of the Mayor and City Council, the City of North Miami, Florida, adopting a five-year capital improvement plan for the City of North Miami for fiscal years 2027 through 2031, providing for an effective date and all other purposes. And then my next question is about landscaping I know there was some back and forth with on sustainability and on the city are worse because there are a lot of mature oak trees did you guys managed to are you guys still cutting them down or do you guys that were are you guys able to Well, did you guys come to an agreement with them in regards to how you're going to save them or any other mitigation that you guys are going to be doing?

okay commissioner bob uh thank you for the presentation uh it looks like a beautiful property and i'd probably say from I'd probably say that it's a project that actually has like amenities that we're seeing a lot of times it's just the building itself and nothing else and so I see kind of the vision with the manner across the street.

Okay. My only comments are I think it's a beautiful project. It looks like it's been... really thought out well and I know that Mister Hodes has built some prior projects that have worked out very well. So we have a trust in the developer by the experience of what he's done already in the city. So I know that he's a concerned community individual.
