Black women continue to face poll taxes, literacy tests, intimidation, and other discriminatory practices and barriers. The Voting Righ

This is the 18th year anniversary of the tragic murder of Councilman Matt Garcia. You know, I think we all remember that day, just like, unfortunately, like it was yesterday. You know, and I know none of us will ever forget it. So at the time of his murder, Matt was the youngest councilman in the state of California. Matt was also my student at Armio High School when I was principal there. You know, I j

Whereas on September 11, 2001, our nation endured the deadliest terrorist attack in modern history, losing 2,977 innocent lives at the World Trade Center in New York City, my hometown, at the Pentagon in Virginia, and in the fields near Shankville, Pennsylvania. Whereas marking a solemn quarter century, this 25th anniversary calls upon us to reflect on a defining moment in American history. While honoring the memory of those who perished and to continue supporting the families and the survivors who bear an enduring grief And whereas in the immediate wake of the tragedy, firefighters, police of
