Thanks for joining us for this weekly joint meeting of the mayor and Denver City Council. Follow along as the mayor and city council members hear updates from city agencies and projects, discuss important city matters, and hear about what's happening across the Mile High City. Join the discussion with your elected officials starting now.

0:34 – 1:101

Alright. We're gonna get started. See the green light come on. So Alright. Good morning, everyone. Welcome to mayor counsel. Thank you for joining us. I'm Al Gardner. Obviously, I'm not Mike Johnston, deputy mayor. So thank you for joining us this morning. We'll start with introductions, and I'll start with my right, distinguished gentleman, Paul Cashman, and I'll let him say Paul Cashman too.

1:102

Way to go, sir. Paul Cashman, South Thunder District 6. Just couldn't be happier to be here.

1:193

A la Vivre, lucky District 7.

1:212

Kevin Flynn, Council District 2. I could be happier somewhere else, but

1:264

Darrell Watson, fine. District 9.

1:295

Seneca Gonzalez Gutierrez, one of your council members at large. Good morning. Amanda Sandoval, Northwest Denver, District 1.

1:351

So she's just walking up. Hi.

1:376

We have to switch to District 9.

1:391

Alright. Thank you. Do we have any announcements? Please, councilwoman.

1:45 – 2:083

Thank you. I wanna share that West Wash Park r and o is hosting their annual eat waste recycle event this upcoming Saturday. Drop off anything from old speakers, laptops, kitchen appliances, cell phones, and vacuums at the Royal Crest Building on South Pearl Street. This will be Saturday, April 25 from 10AM to 1PM. Check out Lucky District seven social media for a full list of items.

2:09 – 2:323

Also, Front Range Passenger Rail is hosting a community q and a session at South High School this upcoming Wednesday from six to 07:30PM. This is an opportunity to learn more about the project, ask the team questions, and provide valuable community input. Your voice is important. The rail would run right through district seven. So come on out Wednesday night at South High School. Thank you.

2:32 – 2:472

Thank you, councilman. Councilman. Thank you. Just a quick note. This weekend, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, the Colorado Symphony program includes a piece that is very near and dear to the hearts of Southwest Denver, and that's Rhapsody in Blue, George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.

2:47 – 3:332

There's a direct connection with Harvey Park because Paul Whiteman, the Paul Whiteman Orchestra in the twenties, graduate of North High School, one of the most famous band leaders of the twenties and thirties, king of jazz, commissioned George Gershwin to compose this concerto the same year he was buying the ranch that became Harvey Park for his parents as a retirement gift. His dad was a music superintendent at DPS. So the same year that he was buying that ranch, he was also getting Gershwin to compose one of the most famous pieces in American classical music. So my wife and I are gonna go, and I if anybody would like to hear the Harvey Park theme song, Rhapsody in Blue, join us at the symphony. Thank you.

3:331

Wow. Thank you

3:352

for that.

3:36 – 3:484

Please. I'm only gonna remember if ABC would do the thing saying the the more you know and go. We need to do that for you every time you get up to speak because the more you know, the better. Right?

3:502

I I love I love

3:52 – 4:204

the knowledge, council member. Tonight, we have our ongoing series of meetings with community. We are having dialogue with with the regional transportation district, with the Department of Transportation Infrastructure Community, and the community advisory group for the Welton Next Steps public study. The meeting will be a virtual meeting, 05:30 to 7PM. You can reach out to my office if you have not received the invite, but we're encouraging community members to come out, share your thoughts.

4:20 – 4:534

Let us know what your thoughts are on really making sure that the Welsh Street corridor is a multi transit corridor and is supported by the city and by RTD. I also wanted to say congratulations to Prodigy. They are hosting their tenth anniversary celebration this weekend as well from four to 06:30PM at the Prodigy Prodigy Coffee House fortieth in Colorado. Come and join us in saying thank you to this amazing community partner for all the good stuff that they've done. Can't believe it's been ten years.

just wanted to wish everybody a happy Earth Day for on Wednesday, but every day should be Earth Day. We have a community cleanup and work within the park. We've been working with Denver Parks and Rec. This Wednesday, we'll be there. They're starting with volunteers around ten, and then we also have volunteers that signed up, I think, at one. So two different shifts of volunteers that are helping to just clean up around the area. So thank you for coming out, and we wanna just keep our neighborhood and our park clean and get it ready for summer. Thank you.

5:504

Thank you.

5:511

Councilwoman Gonzalez Gutierrez.

5:535

Thank you, deputy mayor. Right? No. A couple of things

5:59 – 6:375

on tonight and then throughout the week. So first of all, thank you, director Gardner, for attending the Office of Independent Monitor annual report discussion this evening. That is at 5PM, and we really appreciate the safety safety department's friendship in that. Secondly, tonight will be our final feedback session with with regard to the registered neighborhood organization work that myself and councilman Cashman have been working on. And so tonight's event will be virtual at 6PM, and then we're gonna hopefully start talking about what the next steps will be from that.

6:37 – 7:145

And then the last thing is that we're we're hosting three events over the next over the coming week regarding municipal sentencing, the work that myself, councilwoman Lewis, and councilwoman Parity have been doing. We're hosting these virtual events. One will be tonight. So tonight's a busy night. Tonight at 4PM, and then tomorrow at 06:30PM, and then on Saturday the twenty fifth at 10AM. So we have these three virtual options. We encourage people to sign up if you would like to learn more about the bill, the proposed legislation that's coming through council.

7:14 – 7:411

Thank you. Councilwoman, would you like to introduce yourself for note? Alright. Yeah. Jamie Torres, West Denver district three. Thank you. Any announcements? Is that it? Alright. Thank you. Thank you, everyone. I will now entertain a motion to move us into executive session pursuant to d r Denver revised municipal code
