City Council - Regular Meeting

I've been doing this a while and not very many of our reps will come out to our community to see what's going on in our community. Those are the ones who are actually carrying our water at the state legislature. That is our top priority, to advocate for our constituents.

I think one of the most important themes that's going on is that we all need to work together to make things better for the community.

Sometimes it's just getting back to the basics, right? Focus on the main big problems that are happening in the state. For them to come here really goes to show their care and concern about all the community.

These conversations are extremely valuable to me because when we're sitting at the dais and we're going by the more formal environment, sometimes the conversations don't get to flow openly like sometimes I wish they would. For me, these kind of conversations are the bread and butter of getting things done.

Water is going to be a huge issue in the future. Drainage around the Gulf Coast is a huge issue.

How can you balance statewide priorities versus the local priorities? We're going to need municipalities and them having their voice and their say.

And for them to ask us for our help means that they are looking for that partnership and they're looking to cultivate those relationships. I really appreciate them showing up for not only us but our citizens today.
