0:01 – 0:300

Yep. I'm just gonna sit back and watch. All

0:33 – 1:111

right. It is 05:30, so we can call the personnel committee for the city. Now let's walk to order. Roll call. All members are present. Next on the agenda, public comment. Is there anybody from the public who'd like to comment? Second call for comment? Third call for comment? Any submitted comment? No. Nobody online? No. All right, we'll close public comment. Next on the agenda is the consent agenda. Are there any items we'd like to have removed or discussed? All right, So, a motion. Move to approve the consent agenda.

1:110

Second.

1:12 – 1:341

Moved by Schlei, second by Sikowitz to approve the consent agenda. Any further discussion? No discussion. Oh, sorry, no discussion. Thank you. All in favor? Aye. Any opposed? Same sign. All right. First action item on the agenda is 26.03 A5, classification of market review and job description updates for the surveyor engineering technician.

1:37 – 1:592

Thank you. There was a memo on this agenda written by by Dan, our director of public works. And he explained what we wanted to do with this position. So this position has been held for a long time by an employee who's been here at probably over twenty five close to thirty years, I wanna say.

1:591

I think close to thirty five.

2:00 – 2:442

Okay. And the job is currently the surveyor technician. It's a unique position. He does all the surveying internally, but he also does a lot of engineering work too, which is a unique set of skills that people usually you usually can't find an employee who does both of those things. So because of that, we did revamp his job description in the past month, and we sent it into Carlson Detmer, now Cottingham Butler, for some repricing, and they did recommend moving it from grade I to grade j. So what we're asking for tonight is approval on the job description updates that we made and then also the moving of that position on the compensation structure.

2:501

Any questions for

2:59 – 3:140

retirement at some point and not any other way, do we anticipate changing it back to the way it was just because of the uniqueness of the individual skill set and the probably inability to find somebody with those unique skill sets?

3:14 – 3:482

Thank you for bringing that up. Yes we do. As a rule I don't necessarily love creating jobs for a specific individual. However this is just one of those circumstances where it makes sense financially for us to be doing doing it this way. And, yes, that is the plan. Through attrition, we do hope to once Mike retires, we will, work to revamp probably, we'll look at the whole entire department, the engineering or division, I should say, engineering division to determine what the best path forward is as far as either filling that or contracting out or whatever it comes to be.

3:480

Okay, perfect. Thank you. You're welcome.

3:511

Anything else for Jesse? Any other questions?

3:550

Then I'll make a motion to approve as presented.

3:58 – 4:271

Second. Motion by Sickle, it's seconded by Beeman to accept as presented. Any further discussion? All in favor? Aye. Any opposed? Alright. Motion carries. We'll put that on the consent agenda at council. Next item on the agenda is item zero three nine six, resolution to hire seasonal employees related to elected officials, department heads, or supervisory personnel. Jesse?

4:28 – 4:562

This is an item you've seen a couple of times already this year, and, it pertains to an ordinance that is it requires any employees that are related to either a manager or an elected official to be approved by personnel and then, ultimately by council to work here as seasonal employees. So these employees are related to a supervisor in DPW and then also a supervisor in the fire department.

4:59 – 5:341

Alright, are there any questions for Jesse? Alright, no questions. Then, we'll entertain a motion, please. Motion to question. I consent since it'll have to be motioned by the council or accepted by council. So with that, that exhausts our agenda. I'll take a motion to adjourn. So

5:340

moved. Second.

5:35 – 5:481

We are adjourned. You. Never turned my keyboard on. What the heck? Some of them were here for two, three hours.
