Good evening. This board of alderman meeting for January the 6, 2026 is hereby called to order. Happy new year to all. Uh we have u notice received notice. I've received a call from uh Bishop Pettis and he is not going to be able to make it. All is good with him, but he's having some car issues. Not going to be able to make it. So, I'd like to see if Alman Earhart would lead our invocation tonight. If you would be willing to do that, Mr. Earhart, and then I'll lead the pledge of allegiance. If you will, please stand.
Thank you, Mayor. Uh, let us pray. Most gracious God and our heavenly father, we thank you, Lord, for creating us to be in union and fellowship with you. We thank you, Lord, for the way that you sustain us and protect us. Uh, Lord, for the many blessings we had in 2005. We give you thanks and Lord, I just pray we would serve you for your honor and glory in 2026. Uh we ask that you continue to keep your hand upon our city, the citizens who live here, the employees who serve us. Lord, forgive us of our sins. Bless this meeting tonight. May it be honorable and pleasing to you. For it's in Christ's name I pray. Amen.
Amen. [snorts] Salute. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thank you. Please be seated. Miss Stewart, would you conduct roll call? Yes, sir. Aldridge here. Collins here. Dickerson here. Hart here. Damage here. Hamilton. Wallace here.
Thank you, Miss Stewart. All present except Alderwoman Hamilton, but obviously a quorum is established. Just a reminder for people that speak tonight that this uh meeting is livereamed on the city's YouTube channel as well as archived for playback at a later date. And those of us with microphones, microphones should be on green as we're speaking so everyone can hear and understand what we're speaking of speaking about. Excuse me. Board, you have uh minutes before you of our regular meeting on December the 16th, 2025. Any questions or motions on those regular meeting minutes? Motion to approve. Mr. Collins. Motion. Second. Second. Mr. Gamage. All in favor? I.
All opposed. Motion carries. The next set of minutes are from our December 18th special called meeting regarding uh streets and preservation of roadways plan. Any questions on those minutes or any motions on those minutes? Motion to approve. Motion to approve by Mr. Wallace. Is there a second? Second, Miss Aldridge. All in favor? I.
All opposed? Motion carries. Following the agenda, I'd like to ask that our our guest secretary, administrative assistant, Miss Hayes, if you would meet me at the lecture down front. How you doing? Happy new year. For those for those of you not familiar with this, this is our mayor's award for the month. And I tend to repeat, but I have to say that this is not used. Tax dollars are not used for this. These are donations made by businesses, business leaders, and community uh involve individuals to allow us to reward individuals who go above and above and beyond. Directors submit recommendations each month. And as the board sees, there's some on here very difficult to choose from, but the selection for tonight was submitted by public works director Justin Rose. I read he says, "I would like to nominate gas secretary Anita Hayes for the upcoming mayor's award. Anita comes to work every day with a positive attitude and a strong dedication to her role. She handles customers in a highly professional manner and has a remarkable ability to calm residents when they are upset or frustrated. Does that happen? Okay, that happens. Her patience, empathy, and communication skills make a meaningful difference in our daily operations. Anita is often the first person residents see when they come into the office, and she consistently greets everyone that with a warm smile and welcoming presence. She continues to perform her job with joy, professionalism, and pride, setting a positive example for both co-workers and the community. Anita's commitment to excellence, excellent customer service,
and her positive attitude make her a truly deserving individual of this recognition. So with that, it is my pleasure to award crisp cash of find that other one of $250 to Miss Anita. Thank you so much.
Who's with you tonight? Hold that so he doesn't [laughter]
Thank you for being with us tonight, Miss Hayes. She does a great job and it's a pleasure working with her. [applause] [snorts] board, you have the consent agenda, items 1 through 27, items 1 through 27. Any questions on those items or any comments or motions?
Mr. Dickerson, motion to approve consent agenda. Is there a second? Second. Second, Mr. Wallace. Any discussion? All in favor? I.
All oppose? Motion carries. Under new business, consideration of recommendation to approve change order number one on a contract with Timbos Construction Incorporated in the additive amount of $3,510 increasing the contract amount from $1,474,98120 to $1,478,49120 for the project referred to as the corporate hanger number one board. This is our hanger that's being constructed at the airport. Uh that was an award from the legislature most of the funding for that 1.5 million for that corporate hanger. And basically this is a change because of the electrical mounting item is not going to be on a pole. It's going to be mounted on the ground asphalt etc. So there was a change in that. Is that a good explanation Mr. SWS?
Yes sir. I think so. I think that pretty much covers it. There's a time extension that's associated with it as well for 28 calendar days. Okay. 28 calendar days to get this remaining work done. It's going well. It's looking very positive. If you hadn't had a chance to go by the airport to see the hanger, I'd encourage you to. But any any questions on this new business item or any motions to approve the additive amount of $3,510? Motion to approve. Mr. Gamage. Motion to approve. Is there a second? Second, Mr. Collins. Any discussion? All in favor?
All oppose? Motion carries. Unusually short agenda, but is there a motion to leave regular session with the intention of going into executive session for items 1 through five? So move. Mr. Dear Hart. Motion. Second, Mr. Wallace. All in favor? All opposed. Motion carries. Is there a motion to go into executive session, excuse me, to discuss the personnel matter in the street department, personnel matters in the park department, personnel matter in the water maintenance department, personnel matters in the fire department, and pending litigation discussion with city attorney, honorable Brian Dy. Is there a motion to go in executive session for these items?
Move. Mr. Collins. Motion. [snorts] Second, Mr. Dixon. Any discussion? All in favor? I. All oppose. Motion carries. We are in executive session.
