Kathleen Cuddy (Health) –
- Rural Health Residency started July 1 with Public Health rotation for the resident physicians during month of July Cooperative with Cayuga County Health Department, SUNY Upstate Medical University and Auburn Community Hospital - Hydrilla treatment on Cayuga Lake around Aurora, King Ferry and Genoa Cayuga County Health Dept. routinely tests public drinking water for the presence of the treatment chemicals. Michele Mustico Murphy, Sanitarian, works closely with Michele Wunderlich in the Planning Dept. to keep webpage updated with current water testing results, the treatments and information about hydrilla. https://www.cayugacounty.gov/467/Hydrilla - HABs identified multiple times on Cayuga lake other lakes in FL region Webpage https://www.cayugacounty.gov/742/Harmful-Algal-Blooms provides information and how to report the presence of a HABs to the DEC The Cayuga Lake Watershed Network provides useful information including how to report presence of HABs to the Community Science Institute on Cayuga Lake https://www.cayugalake.org/harmful-algal-blooms/habs-reporting/ - Community Health Improvement Plan required document was submitted by our Sr. PH Educator Meghan Mc Cole. The plan will be posted on the Cayuga County Health Dept. webpage https://www.cayugacounty.gov/1850/Health-Department - WIC is hosting events for World Breastfeeding Week which is August 1, 2026- August 7, 2026 . the theme is “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works”

- OFA staff had community outreach tables at the Alzheimer’s Assoc mini-conference June 9th and at the Equal Rights Heritage Center Pride event June 13th, meeting older adults and caregivers out in the community. - The Senior Farmer’s Market Distribution starts on Wed. July 15th at the Fingerlakes Mall. Quantities are limited and distributions will be cancelled if demand exceeds supply. - NYSOFA Director, Greg Olsen, and the Executive Director of the Association on Aging, Becky Preve, will be guest presenters on August 25 at 1:00 at Bluefield Manor and later that same day at the Legislature meeting.
