Good evening. I'd like to call to order the Rogers Lake Authority meeting for May 13th. The full board is here. And as is Morgan, I forgot your last name. Hopper. Hopper. Yes. First item is the approval of the minutes from the last meeting. Were there any comments or questions on it? Could I have a motion to approve the minutes?
Tony makes a motion to approve the minutes as sent out.
Could I have a second, please? Thank you, Dick. All in favor?
Aye. I'm going to abstain because I was not present.
Candace abstains. And Janelle? All right. Still passed. The review expenditures, the top page of what I handed out is period expenditures for April. We paid Yale their $8,000 for the water quality report. And the boat expenses came in actually better than we hoped. The $1,824 includes is... Dick, thank you for taking care of this. They did the fuel injectors, and they also put in a new prop, right? And cleaned it up, you said, for sort of...
It's not as black as it was before.
Okay, well, we can get it cleaner, but... Um, so I think, you know, going forward, we've got enough room, both in, um, seasonal employment and some of our other expenses to do the water testing that we, that we had talked about. So we should be in good shape there. Um, any questions, comments, um, moving forward on the rapid response plan. I REALIZE, I APOLOGIZE, I SORT OF LOST THE TRIFTS ON WHERE WE WERE AFTER WE LAST MET. JANELLE, DO YOU REMEMBER EXACTLY WHERE WE ARE? YES. I THOUGHT WE WERE WAITING.
I HAVE TO WRITE THE CONCLUDING REMARKS.
YES.
I JUST HAVEN'T PUT IT ON TO THE DOCUMENT.
OKAY.
And that will be done in that room. And then everyone's going to sit there.
Great.
Can you print out the link at that point just to remind everyone exactly who's there?
Well. I included. I know how to do that. I can. I have the link.
Did you do an updated flowchart?
Oh, OK. Just forward that.
We talked about that. Okay. You had done it when we met, but I didn't know if you were going to refine it. I think it was this.
Sorry, that's still on my to-do list.
Okay. Fair enough. Obviously, I didn't review it before today, so.
Is that the flowchart? Yeah. Okay.
we're talking about is when we met a few weeks ago, we decided to do sort of a decision tree flowchart of if this, then this in terms of what you do.
That's kind of what they have here.
Well, that's exactly why I handed this out.
So why make a new one?
Also, what's interesting, this came off of Connecticut's Federation of Lakes, which is been sort of on top of all of this, which is good. And they put that this is obviously a draft response protocol. You'll notice that everything goes back to OAIS, which is fine, but I don't know if they're staffed up to do the work that's proposed here, because I realize you're just getting this now, but they're saying basically this is Bugbee's group that would do the field verification, then go out and map the actual water body. I mean, it would be great if the state stepped up and if someone found hydrilla that sort of took over the process and went, but I'm going to Bugbee will be at the meeting on Saturday. I'm going to ask him about this.
My understanding from their presentation at the Federation of Lakes meeting is that what they're setting up here is to supplement associations who don't have their own mechanism in place. It's sort of implied if you're working with someone, keep working with them, and they're meant to fill in. We certainly want to be aware of what they're planning and have an analogous, essentially parallel.
Yeah. Okay. Good. Yeah, so I just wanted to... Actually, our decision tree sort of goes along the same lines. The page before that, this sign, this is a copy of the sign that um has been approved apparently by deep in the connecticut federation of lakes um we can get eight by tens of this of this for like five dollars a hundred plastic um i believe we could so i was thinking of getting one for like haynes park and one down it um you know at the boat launch and John Potter, Probably want to right away 13 John Potter, Yeah. Um, my only question is, they are nine and a half by 11 machines kind of small.
We can't really do anything about that.
John Potter, No, unless we asked for the rights of this and had our own signs made that would be the only alternative warm on bad large one of those Where?
Like Wormout. Oh, yeah?
He's always thinking about this. He never stops.
Good.
So it would be nice if they gave us the PDF. We could get it printed large.
Well, let's see if we – I think we should be able to get that.
I think Wormout has a lot more traffic than we do. Yeah. Yeah, and they're really ramped up. When we went, I did notice that they – sent out a form to every crew that was showing up there that we had to complete. I forwarded, I think, a copy of the form to you. And it's not really binding, you know, what to do. It just tells you to wash your boats and I think you sign off on it. I would argue that that's a little over the top for us because we just don't have that many crew boats coming in and out. But they're More organized, more lawyers, more money, more everything up there, I think.
Yeah. Well, they are. They have their own patrol and everything else.
Yeah. But it's interesting to take a look, see what they're doing.
You know, I saw that. I'll have to go back and look at that checklist again. Because we could use it. I'll go back and take a look.
The guy who's the chair of their Rogers Lake Authority. I used to train with him.
Okay.
I can take them down if they need to.
Okay. For printing our own, especially if it's bigger, would they need a high-resolution PDF? That's what I remember from last time when we were going to do an insert. We wanted something probably high-resolution.
I wonder if, like, Warmog would share, you know, I can ask IELTS.
Yeah, actually, that would be great if you could ask them how they did it.
We'll be up there this weekend.
I'll take a close look at it.
Never was. It caught my eye, though. Never was worked.
You think student is putting the day
put something at the boat launch?
I'm going to double-check with them.
I think we... No, I know.
They have been very sensitive about that.
I think they would do it since they're so on their own.
The language, the email that provided this also said that it could be posted at state boat launch sites. I might Check with Yvonne, I think, just to make sure before we put up a bigger one. But we have a license there basically to hand this thing out to people at this point. We did get a license to, you can get into that in a minute, to have launch monitors. So, I know, it's crazy, huh? But yeah, if you could see it, when you see him, if you could get a high resolution PDF, that'd be good. We'll just confirm where we can put it in. I guess I got to ask the town if I put up a sign down in Hanks Park. Probably.
You know what? That's just going to be, we, we, we dealt with.
I read the minutes.
Yeah.
That's the first time I've ever seen approved with prejudice in a, in minutes to a minute. Just as an aside, they had a bad deck.
One of the dock sections are injected molded plastic. And one of them became riddled with holes and was sinking. So when they get a few holes, we can weld them shut and save the section. But this was beyond repair, so it was thrown out. So we wanted to get a replacement section $2,500. And so we spent an hour bickering with Park and Rec about everything under the sun about how... But it got approved.
I was...
Yes, with prejudice.
With prejudice. Good thing they have an attorney on the committee. I'm sorry, we're getting a drift. So I am going to that workshop in Gates Ferry this weekend. Um, like I think I mentioned in a couple of emails, I don't know. So it's only, it's like two and a half hours, but I'll, I'll report back and we can see how it goes. Um, any other questions on invasive? Um, boat launch monitoring plan. We do have a license. Um, Joel, Twin Lakes has just started their monitoring. They're doing it on weekends. I was thinking of going up on Saturday the 30th. I don't know if that would work for you.
Probably.
Let me check. OK. If anybody else wants to come along, we're going to drive up to the northwest corner of Connecticut. So it's a two and a half hour drive. But anybody else that would like to come along and see how they do their inspections is welcome to come along. Assuming Joel, that's a good date, if Joel fits on that date. I just have posted the job description with the title, and they're going to put it on Indeed for us. So we'll see if we get any thanks. That might be it. Maybe a little tough.
Did you find somebody to do that work, you're saying?
Yes, because it's Saturday and Sunday mornings from 5 to 12. But we'll see.
It's the last page of your handout. That's the license.
That's the license. Thank you for reminding me. The last page is just, these are the conditions that I think I sent the license to everybody. The small print of the license lists what we can and can't do. We have to have a copy of the license. We have to wear safety vests. I think we can just wear our normal Rogers Lake Patrol shirts because those are high revs. We have to be conscious of parking. And the rest of it basically says that we can inquire, but we can't be forceful We can hand out literature, but only really talk about invasive plants, which is fine, because that's really what we're there for.
Mark, is there an attachment?
I'm sorry?
Is there an attachment to those guys?
Attachment A is just a, I'm sorry, is a picture of the boat launch in a little square where we can put up a tent and a... A chair and a table.
At the boat launch.
You know, the grassy part as you come around, if you're driving in and you're going to launch your boat, you know, right at where you make the turn. It's actually, no, it's actually just, there's grass in between. It's on the, so it's in the grass in between the parking lot That that turn around part in the parking lot. yeah yeah. And that I think we're set our first date that we can do that in the sixth. yeah starts June 6 and September 13.
Yeah. The job description while we're talking about job description.
We can hand that to you.
And it's Saturday and Sunday?
Yes. For now, yeah. You mean the one Joel just handed out? Yeah. Yeah. Sure. I can see where I put it.
How do I obtain a? HAYAKING CERTIFICATION.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S REQUIRED THERE. I JUST PUT THAT IN AS SORT OF A PLACE HOLDER AND WE CAN CRUSH THAT OUT IF IT'S UNAPPROPRIATE.
THERE'S A CERTIFICATION FOR OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLES, BUT I DON'T THINK THERE'S A HAYAKING CERTIFICATION.
YEAH, I'VE NEVER HEARD OF THAT EITHER. DO YOU HAVE A MOTOR CERTIFICATE?
I do not. I should. I would vote, but I can't technically drive it. I think Wilson would do it. I like riding a tube better. Yeah. I can get a motor certificate at any time. It's only an eight-hour class. It's one day.
Yeah.
It would come in handy in your life.
Yeah. It is for life.
Wonderful. But there's a cost associated with it.
Yeah, I don't know.
We'll go pay that. Really? I don't remember. I thought the application might have done. I could be wrong. I think it depends on where you go.
Yes, you can pay top dollar if it's Petapod.
Yeah, or the Coast Guard.
I did the Coast Guard. I did it at West Marine. Yeah, and I think you can do it online.
I think you can do it online.
All right.
So we want to strike the kayaking license?
Yes.
Certification. Appropriate certification for kayaking. Must be necessary.
I'm surprised that wasn't there.
So as this is written, it doesn't require him to have a boating license. Because you're not operating a motor vehicle. Yeah. So it's your choice. And if you want to get it.
They all get it at some point.
Enjoy yourself, but don't do it on this account.
I just want to emphasize safety. And that's why I say a life jacket must be worn at all times, even though that might be going beyond regulations. But it is a requirement.
Yeah.
If you're in a kayak or any.
Only between May 1st and. And.
No, it's the other way. It's between October and May 1st. The water's cold. You have to have a life jacket. That's right.
Yes.
You have to have one in the boat.
May 31st.
But I would think if this is. Yeah, it'd be helpful. Then you'd have to wear a life jacket to mitigate their risk from an insurance perspective. Yes.
Right. I'm also thinking about if you're concentrating on making measurements and maybe, we of course want to be looking at both too, but it just, Extra layer of protection to have a jacket. Absolutely. It can't hurt.
Do you have one?
Yes.
Okay. I mean, because we can also get, when I row when it's cold, I have one that you're like pull the thing and it inflates. So it's much thinner and easier to.
We have a whole bin of those.
Oh, okay. Great. Okay. I also own a kayak too, but you also said that you have a kayak.
Yes. I mean, the, Yeah, I think having your own kayak would be good. Yeah, I have my own. There'll be times when we're out together. There'll be times that it works out where you can be out by yourself, which would be good. This is setting up a job for employment for not only earning some money, but to provide a source of liability by being protection for liability by being a town employee. And I'm open to input on wording here. Is it sort of coordinating with on-site authority to show that there is that connection? Emphasizing the care and quality that needs to be done both, of course, part-time, seasonal, roughly three sampling dates a month could total as much as 54 ounces.
So what do we do about that? $518 in 2026.
We can... Do you mean what are you doing with it and how do you fund it?
We probably have the room in seasonal employment. We have a... I got to talk to HR and finance in the... on how to, the easiest thing to do would be just to put it under patrol, right?
I mean, there's also miscellaneous others. So patrol and seasonal employment are the same thing? Yes. Okay. It looks like you do have quite a couple of them.
Yep. So I think, yeah, if it's seasonal, actually, that's perfect. Seasonal employment, you're seasonally employed.
We'll just put it into there. That's perfect.
I'll just have to... What's going to happen is I'll send this to HR. I don't know how formal they're going to be. I will get back to you. The normal process would be you would have to submit an application. And then they actually have to go through a check. What do they call it? Background check? Background check. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah.
I don't have a background. I know you don't.
That's good.
I know. I'm just telling you what will happen. I mean... So you might have to go to the state trooper barracks. I'll find out exactly what you have to do. You fingerprinted.
You must have been fingerprinted, right?
Many times. Yeah. I don't know where you go to get it. Back then you should be able to go to the police station and go for it.
Yeah, you can't. I think you have to go to the state trooper base. You go right off of 95?
Yes, I had to go to Westbrook.
By the mall, right?
Yeah, just before.
So our workers who are on the boat, they were fingerprinted?
Yeah.
Oh, surprise.
Yeah, and what's crazy is the two of them actually worked for the state and the military before, and their fingerprints are on record, but they don't cross-check. Of course not. Okay. Those are the two things you will have to do, and I will get with HR to get that in place.
So when do we need to have this in place so that his work isn't interrupted?
When did you want to do your first sample?
Soon, right?
Yeah.
And isn't there a minimum requirement that it has to be there to allow people to apply?
I don't know.
That is usually standard protocol.
That is usually standard protocol. We'll see.
But we only need one.
I know.
No, but this was to give, I know, a fair opportunity to the zillions of people out there.
That want to work.
So let's, first of all, are there any other changes we want to make to this other than striking the?
TIDAC certification.
TIDAC certification.
I mean, that can obviously stay.
Yeah, I guess. I don't want it there because I don't want you to have to chase something that doesn't make sense. Yeah.
Right. So I guess I'd like a motion to approve this job description as amended.
I move to approve the job description for environmental water sampling for Rogers Lake as amended. I'll second that.
All in favor?
So if you will, I'll make that change and email it to you. Perfect.
When you email it to me, I'll get it to HR and then I'll get back. I'll run through all the resumes that we get in and we'll get back to you.
My neighbor, a budding neighbor, has a kayak that they said they don't want. I'm not sure of the conditions. I will speak with them tomorrow. They were going to give it to my tree guy.
I have one. Oh, you do have one? I have a kayak. Oh, okay.
I didn't have a kayak.
I have all the stuff listed. I have a jacket, a kayak, and apples.
Oh, great. That's such a nice kayak.
Is the kayak on, Rogers Lake, or can you get it through? I can put it in the back of my truck.
Nice truck, by the way. Thank you.
If this does take time to get going, can Morgan start if I'm working with him, or do we want to wait? I originally ought to put this together with the idea that for certain things like this actually got measurements, you might be able to do that on your own.
I think he has to be on the books.
We have a payment aside.
Yeah, could that be training, volunteer training? He can go along with you.
But wouldn't we pay him during the training period?
I would rather not impede the... the project. And so I would say Morgan can work as a volunteer together with Joel. And then when all this gets sorted out, he can work independently and be paid.
I think that's a way to go. Yes, perfect. Okay.
Thank you.
Thank you. Thanks for getting that together, Joel.
Morgan graduates a year
I know.
Well, that's what they're planning, but I'm going to do everything I can to keep it. The point is, seriously, that Morgan and I have a candidate in mind who may want to pick up the torch.
That would be great. That would be super. Unless he's in the area of summers. He will be, yeah. Yeah. All right.
Just a quick couple more things on water testing. Please.
Yeah. I meant to include that in the agenda, and I did not. So I would please.
So I put together a sampling pipe with a check valve on it based on website for doing water sampling from depth. That's together. I'm waiting for Sample bottles, which Iowa State University is sending me just for the cost of postage. If those are a little late, is it okay if I order a set from Fisher? It would be $174. Is that the number that I should worry about?
No. Do that.
Please do that.
Okay. And send me the receipts for the pipe. Great.
So I might order those bottles just to have them while I'm waiting for those.
Okay.
We were talking about collecting samples for phosphorus and nitrogen and then sending off sets rather than every time we measure, which does require freezer space. Is there anyone here who has more freezer space? Like if it needed the equivalent of several of these, would people have it?
I have a full-size freezer in the basement, yeah. It should be able to.
Well, if you could, that'd be great because I looked at our freezer and
So there's, yes, there was recently a refrigerator freezer installed in the boathouse, but I don't think the freezer section of it is being used. Okay.
Does it lock though? I would feel, I would only feel comfortable with it locked.
I'm sure it doesn't lock, but I don't know.
If it's water, what's your concern?
Somebody would open it up and set the testing.
What if it's capital? I mean, you'd have to be malicious.
OK. You can put a tape around. OK. OK, tape is good to show that it's tape good. What is that called? Chain of custody.
Yeah.
I like that.
Is there a room for a box like this?
We'll take a look tomorrow when we're there.
OK. We're not quite there yet. The bottles, last year they were smaller and not as many. So we could fit in our freezer, but not now.
Expanding the project.
Yes. Yeah, I have a backup. You'll be back.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Anything else?
Yeah, they need to set up the account with the University of Maine as well for EDNA. So there's a lot of stuff happening that is sort of building up our capacity.
Well, if you need any help with that or you want me to get in touch with you, Finance, let me know.
Yeah, I probably will need your help.
OK. Are you done? Oh, sorry. That's OK. Janelle, I've lost track of newsletters and where we are.
I sent out a draft, but this is what I created and what it would look like. I just need people's feedback and comments.
Did you get my initial comments? Thank you.
When did you send that out?
445. Okay.
All right. I haven't seen it yet. Okay.
The pictures, the three little photographs of the invasive, are they that size? Are they legible? Okay, I'll look at it. It's tight. Okay. How are you for number of characters?
That has nothing to do with what sits on the paper. What sits on the paper, okay. So that's why I sent it off to see how it opens. If you want something like this printed, you can do that. But I think we have to have it printed anyway for the workers at the .
We do.
So I just need to know how many of these we print for that purpose. And then if we want to do an insert into that, they can run it.
Okay. Do you have a high quality version of that? One that you can use to print? No. So we need that.
I need the PDF.
Yeah.
And do you have the PDF?
I do not. Okay. I have basically taken the screenshots or whatever they are. Oh, I see. So I don't have the.
It must be on the Deep Web site, don't you think? Or would that be?
Could be.
It could be. Oh, these photos are not that bad. On the email, they were harder to see.
Okay, thanks, Gina. So when do you need comments back from us?
Okay.
We wanted it done printed by Memorial Day weekend.
It usually goes out on Memorial.
Mm-hmm. So that's tight.
So that's early this year.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So I would think one week everybody should have everything back.
Okay. So just legislative update. Tony, thanks for sending that, you know, around everyone about HP 5525 on the hydrilla. So my understanding is it's both houses have passed it. It needs to be signed, obviously, to become into law. And I haven't been able to, if there were like some amendments that came in and out of it, but I don't know if I've seen the exact final final verbiage. But it's good that it passed and it's got to help the process.
It's being taken seriously.
Yeah. The other, the T. R. B. three one three, which is the enact concerning we surf wake surfing that never made it out of the environmental committee. T. So we did send in we talked about last meeting our comments to deep on their draft. T. So in that. T. So they're going to chew on that for a while and I guess we'll hear back from deeps recommendations in a while. I noticed that Connecticut Federation of Lakes basically came up with the same types of solutions that we did in terms of you need all the criteria. It can't be, you know, you've got to consider size, depth, and the type of lake it is to, you know, in conjunction. You just can't say if it's over 100 acres, you can just, or you can, So we'll see where that goes. I don't, I mean, it's interesting that there's, they've had a lot of feedback and it didn't make it out of committee. So we'll see what that means.
I think that's a different outcome than we had feared.
Yes. My concern was the lobbying, the boat lobbying people.
Push it through.
Yeah. um yeah it'd be interesting to see what their strategy is now they might be starting to think they'll go lake by lake near town by town if someone puts up a if that's the case then i would think rogers like would be pretty low on their priorities because yeah i would think such a puddle yeah
PERCENTAGE OF THE LAKES OVER THE 20 YEARS. MARCH IN. MARCH IN. MARCH IN.
MARCH IN.
MARCH IN.
MARCH IN. MARCH IN. MARCH IN. MARCH IN. MARCH IN. MARCH IN. MARCH IN. MARCH IN. MARCH IN. MARCH IN.
MARCH IN.
Before we get on to new business, just patrol boat update. The boat is ready.
When is it going to the new dock?
That's what I need to talk to Candace and you think about.
You sent us a group of dates and we said any of them are fine.
I've got back to my patrol boat guys. One of them works in Springfield. Can we meet you next Tuesday night at 7? Is that too late?
Checking. Is that too late?
You have too much?
No, that looks fine. Tuesday the 19th?
Yes.
Perfect.
And so I'd like to put the boat in the water, you know, next Wednesday maybe or next, I'm sorry, next Monday. When can you put the boat in the water?
I'll find them this weekend. I'll drive to my dock and you can just bring it down.
Okay, I guess. So we need to be able to tell candidates when we're going to bring the boat in so that they can put their boats on the opposite side.
So next week we're going to be there in the afternoons. Morgan is going to near us because he's a great rower, but the rest of us are not. So we'll be there in the afternoons and we'll be available. So next week, if you let us know which afternoon you want to bring it over, I think all would be available.
Can you tie it up? I guess I'll try and get it in there. You know, we didn't do my job. I do want to take it.
Okay, fine. So just tech. I'll text you. It'll probably be Tuesday. Okay. Like what time at three o'clock or what time is afternoon for you?
Three is fine.
Okay.
So you want to Tuesday the 19th, you want to do everything? Everything. Perfect.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay. Great. Thanks. Just on geese, I think, Dick, you were out a few times. on the geese patrol, I don't know, paddling, so.
Found five nests, took all the eggs, they took off.
Yeah.
Never made any more eggs. I missed one, I shouldn't say what time. Okay. This one was on land. I don't know if anybody knows Hoop's house, where he moved to, backside of Pickpick. Yeah. Back in there? High grass. By the time I saw it, the little ones were hashed. A FAMILY OF SEVEN.
A FAMILY OF SEVEN.
OVER IN YOUR AREA?
A FAMILY OF SEVEN. OVER IN YOUR AREA?
A FAMILY OF SEVEN. OVER IN YOUR AREA? WE'VE SEEN A FAMILY OVER IN YOUR AREA? WE'VE SEEN A FAMILY OVER IN YOUR AREA? WE'VE SEEN A FAMILY FREQUENTING THE PARK. WE'VE SEEN A FAMILY FREQUENTING THE PARK.
WE'VE SEEN A FAMILY FREQUENTING THE PARK. IT MIGHT BE SEVEN, YEAH.
FREQUENTING THE PARK. IT MIGHT BE SEVEN, YEAH. FREQUENTING THE PARK.
IT MIGHT BE SEVEN, YEAH.
IT MIGHT BE SEVEN, YEAH. IT MIGHT BE SEVEN, YEAH. IT MIGHT BE SEVEN, YEAH. IT MIGHT BE SEVEN, YEAH. IT MIGHT BE SEVEN, YEAH.
IT MIGHT BE SE Well, maybe it's seven hours on the street. Yeah. Sure. And look at purposely looking for Ness. I don't know how you find what I mean, anywhere. He went with a good thing. I am one day he spotted who did I miss?
Thank you.
But, you know, he's got a better eye than I do because, you know, they hump it down and they blend right in with the leaves and everything.
It's hard to see.
They don't move, so you can't tell.
Sometimes.
Anyway, whatever you found will get you broke. Well, like I say, this is the first year. I'll give you the second year. They say you take the eggs, they lay more. We haven't found that to be true yet. We found that once they lay the eggs, you go back and check them, the geese are gone. They move out. Good.
Last year, did you provide us with a map of all the locations?
I was asking him to send me a copy of the islands of the lake. I will.
Okay. Perfect. And I thought there was some talk that Park and Rec was going to help or participate and that never came to fruition.
Park and Rec's person, your friend.
Sarah Van Bleet.
Sarah Van was concerned about the bird flu virus, the bird virus.
Okay.
So she canceled any of her programs for this year. Okay. We didn't see a reason to do that.
Okay. Morgan and I will take care of it.
Yeah. I think we'll continue on and on.
But you're not an employee, so you're not insured. Yeah, he's an employee. I'm a part of the board. He's a board member. He's a board member, just like you. Oh, so.
Yeah.
Okay. I thought that was just for. BOARD TYPE THINGS.
BOARD TYPE THINGS. OH, OTHER KINDS OF BOARDS. OH, OTHER KINDS OF BOARDS.
OUR BOARD IS SUPPOSED TO TAKE OUR BOARD IS SUPPOSED TO TAKE CARE OF THINGS. CARE OF THINGS. YEAH. YEAH. OKAY. OKAY.
YOU'RE COVERED.
YOU'RE COVERED. I THOUGHT THAT WAS DIRECTORS I THOUGHT THAT WAS DIRECTORS AND OFFICERS INSURANCE, NOT THAT AND OFFICERS INSURANCE, NOT THAT TYPE OF INSURANCE.
TYPE OF INSURANCE. NO, I THINK IT'S INSURANCE FOR NO, I THINK IT'S INSURANCE FOR ANYBODY THAT IS APPOINTED BY ANYBODY THAT IS APPOINTED BY THE TIME TO A COMMITTEE.
THE TIME TO A COMMITTEE. OKAY. OKAY. I ME
yeah um all right moving along um in terms of new business the lake events are are shown um i went through the list and did a sort and none of these groups will have been on lakes that are infested with hydrilla before they come to us.
Fabulous.
So we'll still need to watch. I mean, a couple of them go to infested lakes right after they're here, but so far we're clear in terms of where boats have been prior to coming to us.
As long as they only go to the events on the list.
Well, no, I mean, there's...
They're mother-in-law.
No. Well, that's why we have... The concern was if you have 11 boats that were on an infested lake and they all come here the next week, that's not good. And just a note, Learn to Row is on June 6th. I was told on opening day some of your boats got harassed.
I saw Hilde at a party, and she told me that there were some fishermen that were harassing some of them.
Oh, that was Marlboro Day. No, this was the first.
So we're talking about, you referenced opening day of fishing, which was a weekend day. It's like a Saturday, right?
It was a Saturday, and you had a race.
And we had a regatta.
We had a regatta.
And I said, oh, this is a really bad situation because we've got opening day of fishing and a regatta.
Right.
And I think Paul came to your meeting and we talked about putting a sign at the boat launch.
Right.
Saying there was a regatta in session. But it ended up being a big nothing burger.
Lately, years ago, you could...
I didn't see boats that are in. Okay. No, I didn't either. I just thought that somebody...
And to the harassment, I'm not sure what Hilly's referring to because I wasn't part of that conversation. You know, there's always... Oh, that was a different incident. That was not on opening day.
Okay.
I'm sure we've mentioned this before, but just to reiterate, if a boater is acting unsafely, the thing to do is to have someone with a phone take a picture of it, get a picture of the registration, and we send it to you.
I had a guy a couple days ago going north, on the West Shore, which is against traffic pattern. And he was kind of giving us a dirty look like, why are you in my way? And I thought about going over to him and saying, you know what? My coxswain is doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing. You're going against the traffic pattern. Why pick a fight? So I just let it go. But we did have one incident with eight boys that were kind of loud. And a resident took a picture and sent it to us. And I know that reached police attention. And so the resident never made his identity known to us. So it just was like an email address that was, I can't remember, it was something like fun on the lake at gmail.com.
Okay.
And so we emailed back to him and said, you know, I'm sorry, you're upset. And we talked to the crew and unless you reveal your identity to us, we can't do anything else for you. Right. Okay. And that, so that sort of blew over. So, so I mean, it's the same old kind of low level garbage.
To give you the reverse, Susan opens the door so she can hear you guys go back. It's just fun. Anyhow. Um, okay. Are there any other comments or questions, things to be brought up? In that case, can I get a motion to adjourn?
I move the motion to adjourn. And I'll second.
All in favor?
Aye.
Thank you very much. Thank you. Appreciate it.
