Thank you, Shelly. Please join me. Lord, we ask you for your continued guidance over this meeting today. and over any other issues that occur within our city, continue to protect our residents and our community as we continue to build back. Amen. Amen. Fernando, can you put this in the place, please?

First on the agenda, action item A, consideration of resolution 1961, adopting the July 21st, 2026 primary election results. Shelly, can you read resolution 1961, please?

Mr. Mayor, thank you. Members of the council, resolution number 1961, a resolution of the mayor and council of the city of Guadalquilla County, state of Arizona, declaring and adopting the results of the primary election held on July 21st, 2026. And Mr. Mayor, I'd like to read into the record the results of that primary election. The canvas was approved by the Board of Supervisors, and so this is the official record that they've handed down for the City of Globe elections. So, District 3. Jesse Lethem had a total of 221 votes at a percentage of 97.79%. There were five write-ins, which was 2.21%. And Jesse Lethem is the winner in district number three. District four, Mike Stapleton received 165 votes at a 98.21%. There were three write-ins at 1.79%. And Mike Stapleton received the majority of the votes in district four. District five, Mariano Gonzalez received 82 votes at a percentage of 48.52%. Matthew Storms received 86 votes at a 50.89 majority. There was one write-in at a .59% and the majority went to Matthew Storms. for District 5. District 6, Fernando Shipley received 136 votes. There were no write-ins. Fernando Shipley received 100% of the votes in District 5, and that is the majority, and those are the results.

Thank you, Shelly. So, Mr mayor member council, the council's requirement to. To canvas and to approve these, if you if you so choose and but the seating will not happen to the new council members or new council member until after the canvassing of the. The general election, and that'll happen in December. And so, even though none of these hit the point, if none of the candidates hit 50%, then there would be a run off and that's why this is structured. But since there's only 2 running 1 hit the 50%, there is no general election aspect of this election and therefore it's decided now, but the seating doesn't take place until December. Okay.

Mayor, if there's no further discussion of the resolution, I would make a motion that we accept it as presented. Second.

Mr. Mayor, I'd just like to make a comment. I'd like to congratulate Councilman Beatham, Councilmember Shipley, Councilmember, Vice Mayor Stapleton on the reelection. I look forward to working with my colleagues here on the dais. Councilman Mariano, I look forward to working with you through the end of your term. And Mr. State, I'm sorry, Storms, look forward to working with you on your appointment here to the council. So just want to say congratulations to all.

Yes, Mr. Mayor, I just want to comment. There's a lot of work to be done between now and December. So I look forward to it and working with this council on it. So I appreciate that.

Item B is consideration of the ratification contract PS2026-0138 with Pierce, Coleman, PLLC. based on legal advice from city attorney to the public body council at the May 12, 2026 executive session to bring forward an action item for part-time designation by the city attorney of Justice Peterson to supervise the prosecution of city code violations in the Magistrate Court for Section 6-1-2B of the City of Globe budgeted through account 1055512226 outside legal counsel.

Mr mayor members counsel, as you recall on the May 12th executive session, we received the direction to move forward with the adding an attorney to our prosecutorial staff. We did bring that person on administratively, because you have the authority for anything under under 5,000. We, we've got that person up to speed. We now know that that's probably going to go over the 5,000. And so we need to do is formalize that with with council. So this would be ratifying those actions taken in. The direction given in E session and so what we have done is we have contracted with. Justin Peterson, who is a staff attorney with Pierce Coleman, 1 of 18 attorneys they have working there. We've already had working relationships with with Pierce Coleman. We use Steve Coleman all the time. Justin Pierce we had used when it 1st came on and he's been become a very, very. Popular municipal attorney firm across the valley across the state, and he offers a selection of specialized services. And so that's what Justin Peterson is is specialized in in. Municipal code violations as this was selected for 2 properties that we had had had moved forward on and that is the limit of this services are 2 commercial properties on broad street. 1 of which now is actually been demolished and so that effort has ended.
