City Council - Regular Meeting

We did a quick tour of City Hall a little bit ago, and they were able to see all the different departments, and they stayed with us. And so who's going to open up with a prayer? Nobody from there? Mr. Eric Ripley, lead us in prayer.

Sure. Dear heavenly father, we just thank you for this evening, for the opportunity to meet here for this wonderful city of Deer Park, God. I just pray for our police officers, our first responders. God, just be with them, keep them safe. We are thankful for our city employees and for what they do. God, continue to bless them. God, as we approach this Memorial Day holiday, I pray that we take time to remember what that holiday stands for, for those fallen servicemen and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, God. And we're just so thankful for them, and thankful for the current service members and what they're doing for our country. God, just pray that you're with us tonight. Lead us and guide us.

And we're thankful for your son Jesus who died on the cross for our sin.

Alright. The Boy Scouts are gonna lead us in the pledges. I thank you guys for being here tonight. Let's give a nice round of applause. Y'all are looking at me.

Y'all have done this before. Come on up here. Apparently, got some kind of another week. We have a week every other week of something. So, this week is emergency medical services week. So, what are you gonna tell us about that?

So, EMS week is a nationally recognized week every year that just pays respect to all the EMS providers, first responders, firefighters, hospital workers, police officers that help EMS. Those second responders right there. I see them. Just kidding. Just kidding.

But, it's just to recognize the hard work that they do day in and day out, 20 fourseven. They are out there facing a lot of critical calls and helping a lot of people in the community. And, you saw tonight that we had the Silver Award and that goes perfectly with EMS week. These are some of the most dedicated men and women I get to work with and I'm we're very lucky and we're very lucky the city provides us with great equipment and everything and so this just gets to recognize them a little bit for everything they do all year round. No sir.

So the real question is what does Andrew do? Does anybody know? That's Andrew leads us. He he leads he leads you. He keeps the candy jars full. He leads the candy jars full. Leads from the front, but not truly. From the front. That's all you're gonna give me. That's all I'm faithful.

I'm going to get out of the way so you can take the mic and tell us a little bit about national travel and tourism week.

So if you didn't know Deer Park has a tourism division and this is our team. Not only do we do marketing and PR work but we also are responsible for getting people to stay in our hotels. And They do a lot

more than

that. We do. We wear many hats. But the tourism part of our job is one of the most fun parts of our job because we get to interact with the community and we get to talk to people about what there is to do here in Deer Park and while they stay with us.

What is there to do in Deer Park?

Well, know we have a golf course. And we have lots of beautiful murals. And we now have a beautiful dog park and a fully functional visitor center with a museum. I sure do.

The largest amending the twenty twenty five-twenty twenty six budget for the city of Deer Park, Texas appropriating some set up therein as objects and purposes therein named.

An ordinance appointing three members of the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Adjustments of the City of Deer Park specifies their terms that Troy Cothran, Mitchell Craft, and Elizabeth Delgado are hereby appointed as regular members of the Planning and Zoning Commission.

An ordinance calling a joint public hearing on 06/16/2026 by the city council and the planning zoning commission of the city of Deer Park, Texas on a proposed amendment to ordinance number thirty eight eighty six, the zoning ordinance placing in the Industrial M 1 Zoning District, a 22.9 acre tract of land out of Lot 1 Block 1 Deer Park RV a K A 51515301 And 5401 Red Bluff Road Deer Park Harris County Texas and taking the same out of Highway Services zoning district.

Anointed and appointed one board member of the Deer Park Community Development Corporation of the City Of Deer Park, Texas to fill an unexpired term of the outgoing board member. That Ron Martin, position two, is hereby appointed as a member of the Deer Park Community Development Corporation.
