20 seconds from here. No,

0:11 – 0:440

it might not hurt. Oh, yeah. Noise. I was trying to figure out what some I'm sitting in there yesterday in my office, but we I share a kind of open and I kept hearing this. I forgot that speech. She had left her mic in there. I mean her walking talking. I said this is this Jesus. Good evening everyone. It is exactly 12:00 and at this time we will open our meeting with an invocation and a pledge.

0:43 – 1:270

Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we come before you this afternoon thanking you for this day. We thank you for the rain that we're receiving now that we needed so so much. And we thank you for this opportunity to gather here this afternoon uh in city hall pertaining to um uh business Lord God pertaining to our city. And uh Lord, we just pray that you'd uh in all things, not just today, but in all things give us wisdom beyond our experience or our knowledge pertaining to all the things of welfare and the growth in uh of our city, Lord. And we just uh thank you today for all of your blessings in our life. and we give you the praise in Jesus name. Amen. Amen.

1:24 – 2:380

And now I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. At this time, we once again recognize our visitors and our re the public comments from the audience. At this time, members of the public will be allowed to speak on city related matters only. No personal ma personnel matters or matters under litigation will be allowed. The length of the time may not exceed three minutes. Uh, city council shall not speak under this term under this item, I'm sorry, in accordance with the Texas Open Meeting Act. The council may not deliber deliberate or take action on matters except as properly posted in accordance with the law. With that being said, at this time we're open for public comments. Okay. And we have no public comments. We'll now go to our next item. Our business considering approve new street name.

2:34 – 4:320

Mayor and councel. Um the Lions Club reached out to us. Um actually it was I would say that this discussion has been off and on for probably four or five years now. Um there was a um a request that Mr. James Waldrup be honored for his um his part that played in the development of the aena um and his his work um on the front end of the construction that went on out there and raising the funds and um at that point um no one really took the charge I guess to to say about the uh the naming of that street. There's a drive as it's in your packets um that is not named. So, we don't have to go through a renaming process if a street is already designated and and named um under 911 addressing requirements. Uh this is a uh gravel road that's just mainly used along the side of the aena from Bradshaw to the parking lot of the aarena. um here recently uh the Lions Club came to to us um about a week ago and with the Lions Club PRCA rodeo that's coming up um uh had a special request that we consider this and do this before that event. So that's why the reason of a special call meeting so we could take care of the business um if uh and Uh we have Mr. Steven Wells. Um Scott Shely with the Lions Club here. Mr. Steven Wells um said he'd like to just kind of present this to council.

4:30 – 4:420

And if y'all have questions or did you have some more information outside of he he presented a really nice um

4:40 – 5:390

proposal introduction kind of a letter explaining Mr. for Waldrip's impact on not just our community but our nation as well as his work with the uh Lions Club and the Arena. So did a really good job about presenting the case. Um for the naming of this um I would mention or request that council consider if we were to name it um um that we name it after the last name Waldrip Road and not um first and last name. Um but I'm okay if y'all decide to do else, you know, if if y'all need if y'all do decide to name it James Waldrup. Um um we don't have a lot of names. We don't have a lot of a lot of streets

5:37 – 6:110

in town, so it would change up some of our um categorizing of streets if we have two names to deal with. Um I don't know if y'all have questions. I would for discussion. Oh, he will. Oh, I I thought he was going to give I'd be more than happy to answer your questions and then provide any other Oh, yeah. We're deliberate.

6:08 – 6:250

We better this way again. Stephen Wells, president. This proposal James was mentioning. Let me start over. Mor evening.

6:23 – 7:200

Good afternoon. We appreciate this special session to address proposed naming of the service road that runs alongside Fort Arena and our request to have it name service road. Understanding that there may be some constraints if James is dropped from it if we could at least maintain the service part of it. um kind of in a dual nature. One because it is a service road between Bradshaw and the parking lot and also accesses the back side of the arena. But two because of James Waldrip service not only to the Lions Club but to the county, the city, the nation and his years of service. We just really like

7:17 – 8:000

So with that, I think there's a couple questions that I'd be more than answer. Well, now what? Why are you saying you you would rather just do one? Why? Why both? Uh the dual names my question. It's just going to change the on our listing of streets. All of our streets are um primarily single name roads. Um it changes the it changes the types of signs that we have to install. um the posts for the sign. Just those are some things that council needs to be aware of. I'm okay either way. I would just recommend that council at least

7:58 – 8:420

I just think if we're going to honor James Waldrup and he has all these many years served not only Lions Club but our community. I I I just think if we're going to do it because there's other people with last names of Waldrup that makes sense. I'm just I want council to be aware of it. Yeah. You know, if we're going to do it, just be aware of it. I was just I personally would like for it to be named James Wall. It serves as sort of like a double entandrum. Correct. Yes, sir. Yes. It is a service road and all of his service city. Okay.

8:43 – 9:190

So, the Okay. So you're saying the entire name would be James Waldridge Service Road. That would be the whole name on the deal. That would be the intent. I mean, if it's a spider or something falling down, but how much uh I mean, how many times would that would the would the name be spoken? I mean, yeah. You know, I mean, how many times would it be used in circumstances and situations other than just being posted as James Walder service, right?

9:19 – 10:010

Yeah. And and that's completely fine. It departs from our normal just like Bradshaw, you know, James Bradshaw, you know, is Bradshaw Street. everything is pretty much um directed towards the recognition but not the entire name. Um so it just departs from some of our current usage but it's not a problem at all. I mean if however council decides. Yeah. But I I guess my if the full name good with it the service road it's another element. Are we going to start naming them all for what they are? I just think but his name would be the be the dep of

10:00 – 10:440

when they said you know like I said when they speak his name they're going to know his history. I mean because I mean the first thing even though the service is going to automatically pop up when you review what he was. So we go with the full name. It would be no doubt who he was and what he did. That would always follow through. Well I' I'd like to just go ahead and make a motion we name the road James Wald Service Road. I second. Okay, it's been moved and second. All in favor? This carries. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you. All right.

10:44 – 11:090

If I may, mayor, I'd like to make a statement. Yeah, we have we can have a general comment but not related to so um this past uh I think it was past week or so ago I'd like to allow I'd like to thank John for allowing me to go to the uh how is it pronounced? GFO GFA.

11:05 – 12:150

Yeah. Um so that that um conference and it gave me a whole lot of en enlightenment onto how John um operates the uh the items and um some of the um some of the functionalities that he has to deal with running the city and it gave me a new enlightenment of how he needs help and what he needs help with. Um we we sat and we talked about that to an extent. Um, and also I'd like to thank is being a member of Keep Crockett Beautiful and the me and uh Crockett Lines Club um the city for allowing us to u adhere to some projects that we have in the city that we're looking forward to. Of course, you know, we're working me and Mr. Sheiley here are working with flags and um we we look forward to um sort of like broadening some briefification around the city with that as well. So, thank you My only comment is today is that you know it's a good city that you come in and they recognize people for longterm. We have so many community dedicated people. I know we can't name them all

12:13 – 12:300

but when we go through it we had a list. So if we do them one at a time and we'll remember because when you said the Lions Club it's a whole lot of names will fall under him that he worked with service. And so I think it's really important that we not forget

12:27 – 13:240

what the foundation was and any opportunity that we have to honor people that have done major things in our city. I know we might miss some, but people would say, "Oh, they were there. They were there." And so when you even with this uh recognition, it comes with the Lions Club. It comes with so many other segments. And that's what we want. I I know we can't honor everybody name by name, but when you can honor and they're representing whole segments of the community that have helped and are helping and will continue to help Bill, we really appreciate that. And so we're grateful. We're grateful to live in a city where people recognize what others are doing. And I think that's what the city grows from. You point that and give him a hand. Well, thank you so much. Uh we appreciate you and we're if nothing else can we see

13:23 – 13:580

motion to adjourn. Have a second. Third, fourth bid. That's good. I like it. I like my recognition. That's a lot. A lot of you forget back then. Matter of fact, I'm a member of the I just never appreciate I don't want to break your man. I don't mind it at all. Yeah. that we sell right now.
