And shall we stand for the pledge of allegiance? I pledge allegiance to the flag of The United States Of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for our all. Thank you. Any public comment?
There is no
public comment. Alright. Item number 26Dash0590, approval of minutes from the March 17 meeting. I, James Jerome, make a motion to approve the minutes as is.
Mike Endy, I second that.
Any comment? All in favor? Aye. Any opposed? Excellent. Thank you. And our agenda item updates twenty six-six ninety six, the Economic Development Division update.
For the economic development division update, we have been pretty busy. We have had two aviation aero shows that we have gone and attended, one in Miami, one in Orlando. I recently got back from an Ignite conference in Orlando, which is the FEDC conference. It's an annual conference that we attend. We also have two team members that are in Las Vegas right now at the world's largest commercial real estate convention, which hopefully they come back with some great leads from that.
We also have some active development projects that will be announced hopefully within the next month for everybody, and it pertains to mixed use and residential development. We have been participating in our Cupid detail. We have hosted five inbound missions, and they have resulted in us marrying buyers with sellers within the area. And they've also now some have entered into development process, which is fantastic. We also hosted the quarterly business welcome that happened, roughly about a month ago.
Actually, almost exactly a month ago now. And that was it wasn't well attended, but those who did come saw the benefit of coming. We do have a lot of resources there for our new businesses, and it's nice to see them take advantage of that. You were also interested last meeting on what we were doing for strategic growth. And I just wanted to reiterate that we have two workforce roundtables that we are actively participating in, one for the health health care industry and another for the semiconductor industry.
We're looking on getting advancements into our local school systems to get kids more involved in STEM, which is already an active project within Sarasota County, but we are looking to push that a little bit further and take it to the next step. And for health care coming up June 6, we'll be hosting a health care exposition. We're looking to do a twist on the traditional career fair, and we're gonna be having demonstrations really on how people can advance their career or possibly enter into a new career trying to retain those workers within the health care industry if they're not happy with where they are, showing them that there's different fields that they can then go into and prosper. And that will be on June 6. So if any of you guys want to promote that, we can go ahead and send out an email with a flyer for that as well.
We have over 60 tables, 45 vendors that will be there. We're going to be having Suncoast Blood as well. Our fire department will be hosting a nice, demonstration for everybody as well. It should be a fun exposition. Other than that, that is economic development update for this quarter.
Any questions? Any questions for me?
You said June 6 is the health event?
June 6. Okay.
All right. Thank you for the update. Agenda item number seven, future agenda items. Is there anything in specific by topic only, would you like to know about going forward into the next meeting or meetings to come or the next two meetings? Any updates do we need?
Any specific companies that we want to hear from? I didn't I don't know how we didn't get the invite, but I want to know more about the King's Plastics YMCA development that's coming out. I know you had the ribbon cutting. I really wish the chamber could have been there. But I'd like to get some information on that and what their projections are. So anything else? Anyway?
Maybe just an update as we get manufacturing updates. STC is getting very close to finalizing our overall plan for the school. So I am setting aside a lab for a classroom right now for manufacturing to support potential for semiconductors or whatever manufacturing comes into the medicine developments or anything else over in that corridor. For us, it's particularly important to make sure that we develop the lab appropriately for companies that would be coming in. Is that anticipated opening of that expansion will be August '28?
To the year. And And then,
think, do Anything else? Alrighty. Any other public comment that rolled in? Alrighty. As a note, our next meeting is
September what was that date?
Fifteenth? September 15. And if there's no other things to be brought before our board, I will call this meeting adjourned at, wow, 10:38.
