Good morning. I'd like to welcome everyone to our regular Commissioner's Court meeting. Here it is, July the 7th. Going backwards here. We're in the annex as usual, and we're going to begin with the invocation or pledges. If you'd join me in standing, please.

Let's pray. Lord, thank you for such a beautiful day. Lord, thank you for a beautiful weekend, a great Fourth of July and our 250th anniversary. And Lord, watch over our Coppin County employees, first responders, and help court to go the way it in your eyes needs to be. In Christ's name we pray. Amen.

Okay, routine correspondence. Kelly, you have something for us?

Yes, we have coming this weekend, we have our countywide cleanup internal. Let me find my date here. What is that date? July 11th. From 8 to 4. And the tires will be accepted on that day. Limit 10 per household, and that is passenger vehicle only.

How about electronics?

Electronics, yeah, electronics will be accepted. Normally with a little fee. Yeah, normally with a fee on the electronics, yes. But still no construction debris.

Right. But it is a place they can get rid of it, electronics, if they need it. Yes. Okay. And the sheriff had something he wanted to share with us also.

Morning, Doug. I'll give you an update over July 4th. It's usually our biggest day of the year. So I'll kind of give you an idea of what happened. I know you'll like to be educated over there. If you can see, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, we had a total calls for service 1,055. You can see where I had officers initiated calls. If you can see, over the last five years, that our calls for service for July 4th has went up over 45%. So that just tells you the increase. And you can also tell with us getting more deputies, more consistent in what we're doing and having our staffing, that our initiative calls from traffic stops and just enforcement out there, it went up 170%. So that's, you know, slowing people down, doing the things we need to do. And then the best thing of all, with all them calls for service and doing it and having adequate people out there, our average response time was 6.9 minutes with 1,000 officials. So that's a good day. So I'm proud of my command staff. I'm proud of the men and women at the sheriff's office that did an outstanding job. They kept everybody safe. If you don't know it, we will have a video out. We like to have an officer hit. It was in Farney. It's a pretty scary video. He was talking. Luckily, somebody caught him back there. He had been between the two cars when the drunk driver hit the Farney PD car and just debris barely missed him. So, you know, we was blessed and lucky, and I just want to make sure y'all knew what was going on. at the sheriff's office dispatching all of them that did an outstanding job for July 4th trying to keep everybody safe.

So I know the traffic July 4th night at midnight I was coming home and it was like a blue light special going on somewhere. It was just bumper to bumper. It was crazy.

I've never seen that many cars. Yeah, traffic was really pretty high. So I just want to make sure. I know you all are always wondering about the fourth, how we're doing and how it's looking. So you can see it's increasing. But keeping our staffing up is going to be the big thing to deal with.

Well, we appreciate the officer doing the work. Thank you. It's not easy. Okay, on the consent agenda, we have three items. You all have had time to look at those. First one is to accept the Commissioner's Court regular meetings for June the 30th of this year. accept the tax assessors collectors monthly tax collections reports from May of this year and Accept the tax assessors collection auto collections for the month of May of 26 I've all seen these to hurt them last week. Number three is mr. Martha Diffie She wants to inform us regarding Steel Hope Ranch, a nonprofit safe house serving Coffman County. Good morning.

My name is Martha DeFee, and we just started a new ministry here in Coffman. It's called Steel Hope Ranch, and we are a safe house for women who have been sex trafficked and exploited. So I wanted to share that with you. We're having our first annual fundraiser. It's a clay shoot. at the Texas gun ranch. Um, I wanted to ask for you guys to, um, maybe be a part of it and support us. Um, so we will be a two year program. So the women will come in and it'll be a very, um, structured program and it will go up to two years and it's really just so that they can, you know, their lives can be changed and they can become, um, you know, who God created them to be. How are you finding these ladies? So we will be working with Rescue America. They work with women throughout the United States, also law enforcement as well. Okay.

And when is your clay shoot?

The clay shoot is going to be Friday, August the 7th. And I'll leave this in the back. Okay. Okay. Sure. But, yeah, so I also wanted to share with you that, what is the name of, Oh, Chandelier Farms is going to be doing a fundraiser for us as well. And it's going to be a Cattleman's Ball in October. And I'll make sure that you all are aware of that as well. But all the proceeds will go to the ministry as well.

I'm Tim Thompson, the Utility Project Coordinator for the state of Texas for Windstream Kinetic Unity. Unity is our current name. Kinetic is our business office. And then, as you know, Windstream was the former ILEC for Scurry District in Kauffman County. We are expanding and upgrading our network for the residential and rural areas in Scurry, and that's what this project is going to do. And the other thing that I'd like to tell you is that if you have any issues with anything with Windstream, Kinetic Unity, call me, and we'll get it addressed ASAP. Okay.

Okay. Discuss and approve an amendment to the Kitchell CEM Professional Services Agreement to extend to the agreement and increase the contract amount due to the extended construction schedule for the Coffman County Courthouse renovation project.

So this amendment extends Kitchell's agreement so that they could continue to providing construction management services through the project completion. The total amount is $87,640. We're requesting the full amendment amount to ensure that there's sufficient funding through the completion of the project. Final responsibility will be decided at conclusion of the project. We may not use the full amount if they finish ahead of schedule. Where are we on schedule?
