Village Council - Regular Meeting

okay very good we are live uh good evening it is 5 32 and today is july 6 2026 i'd like to open this executive session meeting and turn it over to our village attorney john quick thank you madam mayor

Pursuant to Florida Statute Section 286.0118A, governing public meetings, I, as the attorney for the Village of Palmetto Bay, wish to advise the Village during this public meeting that I desire advice concerning the litigation of Stephen Cody v. Village of Palmetto Bay in the United States District Court, the Southern District of Florida, case number 26-22906-CIV-Altonaga-Reed. I ask that we hold an executive session at 5.30 on July 6, 2026. Attending this session will be the Mayor and Council Members, Village Manager, Myself, the village attorney, and litigation counsel, Lourdes Weidler.

Question before we motion to move into the next room. The vice mayor is just running a few minutes late. Will he be able just to come in and join us?

Yeah, he can join us. No one else can that wasn't listed, but he can come in.

I just wanted to put to the record that he is coming. He's just running a few minutes late.

And I should mention, Councilmember Cody, a request was made by our attorney through his attorneys that he not participate in the executive session so that we could have an open dialogue about it, and he had agreed not to attend as well.
