Board of Aldermen - Special Meeting

Good evening and I now call the meeting to order and ask that the city clerk call a role for attendance. Alderman Garber here. Alderman Carter here. Alderman Hughes here, Alderman Canella here, Alderman Murphy here, and Alderman Sawyer here. I have Alderman Schwear as absent. Mayor Ree is presiding. We do have a forum. Thank you. I now have the pleasure to formally announce my nomination, Michelle Freriedman for appointment to war alder manic vacancy. Is there a motion and second to confirm the appointment? So move second. Thank you. And I believe you will enter Alderman Shores comments.

Yes, sir. I'll be entering the email that was sent earlier uh this afternoon distributed and then I placed it at your spots as well in case you didn't catch that by email. Um that will be uh attached to the minutes of this meeting and it was in support of Michelle Friedman's nomination. That's great.

Any discussion or public comments? Well, I have one. Um, and I'll get to you, Alderman Murphy. I just, um, first off want to thank Alderman Stein for his service to the city. Um he was engaged um prepared sometimes even thoughtful and and and thank thank you for for your dedicated service to the city and thanks for being here tonight as a show of support. That's really pretty special.

Thank you. And then I'd like to I would like to thank Michelle Freriedman for having an interest in this, for having an interest in serving the city, for looking out for the betterment of the city, for making sure that we we balance the city and the country parts, the aspects of our community, both of which are vitally important. And so I'm in the time that I had a chance to meet with her, I certainly came away very impressed with what a diligent, intelligent person she is. So I I'm excited about this and Mercury. Thank you, Chair. Um, so I had the opportunity to speak with Miss Friedman uh last week. Um, boy, she has some stellar uh skills and perspectives that she can bring to the board. So, um, Miss Freeman, her her credentials are very impressive. Her activities in business and for the public are, um, at a high level nationally, stationed, statewide, and locally. Um, I'm also equally impressed with enthusiasm for the position and I believe she'll be a great addition to the board. Wonderful to meet the the rest of the family as well. And I too also appreciate uh alderman's or ex alderman's dedication and commitment to the board and all his efforts uh for the past year and a half or so two years two and a half years. Um and wish you best in your your new endeavors. Thank you. Thank you. Appreciate it.
