This is the Northport Nonprofits United m p two committee meeting, and there's a call to order. So today is Monday, 02/23/2026. It is 3PM, and we are in Room 244. And I called the North Port Nonprofits United meeting to order. Item two. I'm gonna ask board members to state their names for the record and announce board members who are absent. So my name is Theresa Caracciolo. I am the chair. Amy Stevens. Joan Morgan. And we have Lisa Rowe. Has anybody heard from Lisa? She's not coming. She won't be here in attendance today. Let's go ahead and stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of The United States Of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Be seated. Thank you so much, everybody. Public comment. I'm going to request the board specialist call on those who have submitted public comment cards for general public comment to come to the podium.
There is no public comment. And there are no public comments. Item five, approval of the minutes. Let's look at approving the 11/17/2025 Northport Nonprofit United MP2 Advisory Board minutes. This is from November 17. Did all of you have a chance to review this? Are we reviewing it now together? Yeah. Got it. Mhmm. I looked at at it. Yeah. I moved to approve the minutes as presented. Second? Am I allowed to vote, again, on the motion as chair?
You're allowed to vote. Yes. So let's move to approve the minutes. And the motion carried. Next item number six, new business. Discussion and possible approval of the 2025 annual report PowerPoint that would be presented to to the city commission. Oh, you guys finished this. Damn. You made it a PowerPoint. It's beautiful. Do you guys have a copy of this? Mhmm. Mhmm.
Can review this. Right? Oh, cool. Okay. So can I go ahead and review it for you? Sorry. I thought we were gonna have the Yeah. Projector up. But so it's usually up to you guys to create the PowerPoint. But we did it this time.
But moving forward, we'd like to let you guys know you guys are in charge of creating the PowerPoint. But I think we did a great job, and I think it's going to be easy for you to follow. And I say that because it's like you're going to have to crash course this. And you already know the information, but the sequence of these slides is what I'd like you guys to learn. So there's two parts to it. So there's the actual PowerPoint, and then you have your notes on the bottom. And I believe I wasn't here at the last meeting, but staff told me that it will be you, Theresa, and you,
miss Morgan. I don't know.
I'm presenting this because you guys are presenting this. Okay. When is the And I missed
the last meeting because if I was here for the
last meeting, I would have said, hey, a memo should suffice. We send a memo and send it out. But now you guys have to present this information. When does it get presented? It gets presented March 24. Twenty fourth. I
will be out town, but maybe Lisa will be here. And it's a 6PM meeting. Yes. I have to check my schedule before confirming that. Cool. So Yeah. Love
fine print detail.
Finish finish this, and then I wanna bring up a not a concern, but a comment. Okay. Okay. So
so basically, each slide of the top part is the slide that you guys will see. The notes at the bottom are for you to read. So who's ever presenting, I will go up there and I will present the program, maybe give just a quick reminder of NP Square. And then I will introduce what I was under the impression of you, Teresa, and you, Ms. Morgan. So then that you guys would come up and present. So after each slide, if you could just literally read the notes. So here, the first slide is basically talking overview of the MP squared program. We put MP squared because sometimes we find people saying MP two, and it's not MP two, it's MP squared. Okay?
And that's why we left it like that. So if you were to read it, you could say overview of the m p. You see the little two there? People are gonna say m p two. It's m p squared. Okay? So it's basically this just says what it is, the collaborative effort, the agency criteria that it would be important to remind commissioners what the program is and kind of what you guys look for in the agencies and and what you're looking for in the allowable and non allowable expenditures. So this little these three little paragraphs would be just read word for word. Mhmm. Okay? It's easy stuff. We made it to where it flows. Do you need me to read through it every word for word? Or you guys kinda
I like your explanation. Keep going keep doing what you're doing. It's
helpful. Okay. Yeah. If you This is all slide one? Yeah. The three paragraphs? Uh-huh. Slide one. Yeah. And that's just basically to give them an overview. At the very end, this little on the second page of the sentence, you guys could say that. Please note, this program is not intended to support the administrative cost of the applicant. Because a lot of people think that that's what we do. We pay for their administrative costs. And you guys are well aware that we do not do that. Okay? That's your first slide. Your second slide, one of my favorite slides. This is introducing yourselves as the committee members. So who's ever doing this slide, the little asterisk, the stars at the side, those are instructions.
You don't read those. So it just says introduce each of your fellow committee members. Does that make sense?
So go back in the slide and
read each one. Yes. So you would say, all right, our chair is Theresa Caracciolo, Sarasota County Schools representative, so forth, Lisa Rowe, blah, blah, so forth. And then this sentence here where it says, currently, we are looking for a representative of the older adult community. City manager will appoint a person for this position. That's why that's a good point. Once we identify who that person is, then we will fill that that spot in. Easy slide. Just remember that the little asterisk on the side of the sentences is just for instructions not to read. Okay?
So good example is the next the next slide where it says your accomplishments. It says read each box. So here, you're going to, say twenty twenty five committee of accomplishments were completed sunshine law training, gave direction on amending the NP squared documents for program efficiency, so forth and so forth, each box. K?
Very good.
Here, you're gonna say, now we're going to highlight some agencies that received funding. And then you're gonna read the slide. And then you would just say Northport Meals on Wheels requested item, can opener in the amount of $753.82 It was approved by committee, the $753.82 The agency received the $753.82 and then you just say that little paragraph. The Northport Meals on Wheels served 12,305 meals and opened eight zero two cans after receiving their mission support item. We only highlighted agencies that we had pictures to go with the slides to make it a little bit more impactful.
Hopefully, you guys are okay with that. Absolutely. Same with the next slide. Mhmm. Friends of Shannon Staub, public library, read the item, what what you guys approved and what they received and how those books have been put into play and how they've been helping the community. Mhmm. The boys and girls clubs, same same. Read the slide. And then we have the next one of big brothers, big sisters. Read the slide.
And then you would transfer over into, I mean, transition over into, your committee goals. And you can say in the upcoming year, the committee is dedicated to perform the following functions and then read each box. So complete the Sunshine Law training for new committee members, appoint a new chair and vice chair as terms expire, follow-up with noncompliant agencies, so forth and so forth. Those are your upcoming 2026 goals. And then your last slide, before you go into questions, there's just a little paragraph that says that you'd like to express your sincere thanks to the city manager and the social services staff for their dedicated administration.
Look at us giving ourselves kudos, right? And to the commissioners for their continued support and leadership. And then just read that slide. It's basically just acknowledging them for providing it. Beautiful. Are you going to be there? Yes. Yes, ma'am. Yes, we're all going to be there. So if there's any questions, can come up and answer specific questions that you guys may not remember or know how
to answer. We should mention your names. We should mention you. This committee wouldn't run without you guys.
Social services. No, let's not make any more services because then we wouldn't get this approved the way it is and we're on a short deadline. They they know who we are. We're small and we're mighty. Mhmm. Yes. I mean, there's only six of us. So but they know that me, my right hand and my left hand that are officer do a pretty good job, I think. And it's mostly them. I really can't take all the credit.
They do a lot of behind the scenes work. They did a great job with this PowerPoint. Hopefully, you guys like it and are comfortable with it. I think for first, believe that for the little bit of not a little bit of information, but for the small amounts that went out that we're highlighting, I think there's substantial information in the power point, if that makes sense.
And should we say something like these are a few of the many that we've approved? These are some of the highlights?
Well, yes. Because you're only I had the same question because I'm like, I wonder if we could put all the agencies, but we're only highlighting the 2025. So see how we've had the funding cycles go some simultaneously and moving into other ones, you really can't highlight those because then we need to highlight them in their appropriate year.
And it will show a difference too as it grows. Yes.
You could say these are just the ones that we're highlighting for this year, but we are in our fourth funding cycle. Wow. Because it's moving fast. Because remember that first year, we were kind of in arrears trying to get everybody. We had to Back back. Back to back.
Oh my gosh.
But if you guys are Okay with this the way it is and the verbiage that's in there and how it flows, then you guys can just approve this, and this is what we'll provide on the
twenty fourth. I motion to approve it. Okay. I'll make the motion to approve it. Second.
Julia, do we have
to do they have to vote right now on who's presenting it or and who's reading each slide? Or is that something that happens the day of the twenty fourth that both of them can go and talk about this? Does that
I'm not sure if that really has to be something. Mean, you could always make a motion that's safe. It's always better to do that. But if it's just presenting it, think they could just kind of like
Present it together.
Say, present it together or
be like,
do you want to do it? Yeah. Okay. Okay. That's good. Yeah. Because I remember Theresa saying you were good at public speaking. Speaking.
I'm very good at public speaking.
I spoke at many events, yes.
Very good at public speaking. So are you guys Okay to present it together?
Absolutely. We'll fight over it. Yeah. We could go every other slide, or we could We can do whatever you want to do. You decide. You can do it all. I don't care. Hey, they've heard my big mouth enough. It's never enough. We always like to hear from you. We do. Okay. Then this is good.
Thank you. Thank you, guys.
Fabulous job. Fantastic. I'm very proud to present that. Thank you.
Wow. Appreciate it. Appreciate it.
The visuals and the layout are beautiful, and the wording is appropriate, and it's perfect. It gives it a very good picture of what we do. Yeah. Great job. Very positive. Very positive. Yeah. Very professionally done. Thank you. Okay. Do I need to conclude anything on item six? I'm afraid to motion to vote anyway. I'm I'm allowed to request the motion. It says right there. So the annual report, is that right?
Yes. Mhmm.
So item number six. So Okay, we approved the presentation, right? Approval, and she voted, and she's recording that. So item six, new business approval of the 2025 annual report PowerPoint. That was approved. That's passcode item seven, future agenda items. Queries I'm sorry. Care tool announces and queries board members regarding items to be placed on a future agenda. Do we have any items we'd like to place on a future agenda? Possibly, I mean, when I if I'm speaking from a personal standpoint, when I signed up to do to be part of the all I was told was that it was a meeting that they would like people to attend, and it would be one day.
I thought it was a one day thing. Okay. So here we are two years later. I don't know if people ever discuss or if it's even appropriate, but if people ever discuss paying board members. I don't even know if that's a possibility.
But if there's time requirement and commitment, and we're putting off other things to be here, and now looking futuristically creating things to present to the board and stuff like that, It's it's quite a it's quite a commitment. And so, maybe consideration of I mean, I'm saying it for the future people because I'm gonna be finishing in July. So for future people to put that type of effort, consider paying at whatever it is at nothing, dollars 5 an hour, whatever it is, Yeah. This don't think
type of it's a voluntary committee program. So there is no no, that's why we the staff does all the legwork and the and the administration of it. The only time that you guys would be involved is to do, like, the annual report. That's the only part that you have to do as far as, like, the administrative outside, is present to them. This is great, but if you'd like us to be involved in the annual part of it, we could we could type up a memo too and then you don't have to present.
And a memo, you know, would suffice as well too, where it's just it's it's sent up the chain, and then you don't have that extra meeting to come in and present. So the reason that this is in place is like I said, I missed last meeting, I wasn't here. But I believe you guys voted to do a presentation. Yeah. But, you know, that's something that could minimize the time commitment.
But we are very grateful for each and every one of you to do this because without you guys, we won't be able to run the program. We could do the behind the scenes work all day, every day, but we can't execute it completely without you guys. So thank you. But I do realize, I validate that it is time intensive for any volunteer that comes in. And hopefully, as we move forward and we're now on track for a normal funding cycle, it won't be as much.
I think that it's been a lot the last two years because we've just had, like I've mentioned, the run ongoing funding cycles. So it hasn't been like a normal, you know Does that make sense? Yeah. So hopefully, it'll be less time
consuming. Because the normal the new people coming on will only do two funding cycles. You're about to enter your fourth. Yes. Is there a maximum time where we have to stop and people have to replace us?
Yes. And that's two years. And that's what we have in here in the PowerPoint where when does that get done? When do they have to vote on who moves to chair and vice chair?
I believe it's May 18.
In May. Yes.
So should that be on the future agenda item? I'm not sure. It should already be on there for discussion that we've talked about when we send you guys, what the future dates are. I think that's what it's on there. Or did we just send out the dates? It was just the dates that we sent them. Right? Okay. Yeah. So, I mean, it
could be future. She poses a good a great question. Does she does do they have to
Yeah, May 18, I'm showing that we would vote on the new chair and vice chair.
When's the next meeting that we have besides this? Because this was a special meeting. Yes. When's the next regular meeting? May 18. May 18? That's the next one? Yes.
So it would be future agenda items. I have to file for that already for the election of the
Yes. Okay. Thank you. Yes. So that's when we're going to be getting close to terms maxing out. And I believe, if I'm not gonna remind me, Teresa will be done.
The next meeting after that. Uh-huh. Yeah. May 18, I'm showing that's Teresa's last meeting.
Yes. I know. You say it was a lot, but I'm like, we've only been seeing each other for a little bit.
And it saddens me because it has been an absolute honor to serve. I truly mean that.
Yes. Thank you. Thank So we will have to the remaining board will have to vote for who's stepping into that chair and vice chair.
I thought that she automatically becomes chair as vice chair. Not automatically.
Not automatically. The board votes for it? And she has to accept as well too. Has to want it.
Yeah. Am I part of the vote or my lame duck? I think probably still would because
she's still a member of that date. At that May 18, yes, you can vote. Wow. Okay.
And are there any other applicants for chair
and vice I believe we have two that I plan to take to city manager my next one on And hopefully, he'll review those applications and then see. I believe one of them was one of your suggestions. Keith Lieberman? Yes.
Oh, good. Wonderful. As community member. And so now he's up for chair and vice chair?
No. Just a community member. Just as community member.
So who's up for these two positions? One, two, and
well, no. Lisa could move into Chair. Chair. And then Amy and Joan would have to be voted into they would like to.
So that would be on you. Oh, really? Yeah. I can't do it. And then Keith would be the 55 and wiser. That's how we were thinking that in category.
Yes. Because remember, that's who dropped out, Gail. That's who those people were trying to fill.
Yes. I miss her, yes. Yes. Our term, too, will be up soon. Is it two years?
If one of you gets voted in, then you have an additional you can serve an additional year.
Oh, yeah. I remember them saying it was three years.
Potential three years from start if you keep getting voted in. Which is what we would like because Yes.
There's consistency. Yes. At
least the chair and vice chair are well aware of the program, know the requirements, know, what the objective is and kind of what's expected and what's happening versus the new ones are learning it all. Absolutely. Remember how it was? We we've all been if you think about it, we've all been on a learning curve. You guys and us as as well too. Trying you're trying to navigate and figure stuff out to make it least painful for you guys and least painful for us
too. Yeah.
But it's been good. It's been It
has never been painful. Yeah.
So we just want to make it to where we don't make extra work for you guys that's not necessary. Thank you so much. Okay. Perfect. Was that it? Okay. What else?
So item eight, public comment. And there were I was told at the beginning of the meeting there were no public comments. Is that still valid? Yes. Okay. Thank you so much, Julia. So this meeting is adjourned. Alright. It is
