Planning Commission - Regular Meeting

All right, we'll go ahead and call to order the July 21, 2026 meeting of the Temple Planning Commission to order. If everybody will stand, I'll offer our invocation, and then we'll have the Pledge of Allegiance. Let us pray. Our most gracious and loving Heavenly Father, thank you this day. Thank you for this opportunity to come together, dear God. Be with our meeting here tonight. Guide us in the direction you'd have us go. Bless and watch over and care for our city staff. Be with our mayor and council, dear God. Bless and watch over and care for their families. Be with those in attendance tonight. Give them safe travel. All these things we ask in your son's precious and holy name. Amen. Amen.

We have a couple of members out tonight, but we have finally made it back to having a full planning commission. And we want to welcome our newest member, Mr. Robert Stafford. He's already been sworn in by Mayor Johnson. So Mr. Stafford, thank you for your willingness to serve, and thank you for being here tonight. We'll go ahead with a roll call. Ward 1, Gary Thomas is present. Ward 2, Ronald Woody. Ward 3, Troy Hollingsworth. present ward four Calvin Waters present ward five Robert Stafford at large Taryn Bivens we have a quorum I would like to direct your attention to item number nine on the agenda and request a motion that we amend the agenda to eliminate item number nine tonight since we need the full group here for the training I'll make a motion to amend item number nine I have a motion by Mr. Waters to remove item number nine off the agenda. Is there a second? Second. We have a second by Mr. Hollingsworth. All those in favor, say aye. Aye. Opposed, like signed. We've removed item number nine. Item number four, approve the minutes of the May 19, 2026 Temple Planning Commission meeting. You received those by email and also a copy in your packet. Whenever you're ready, I'll entertain a motion.

City of Temple, on behalf of the Carroll County Board of Education, for a rezoning request. Number five. Status report. Oh, status report.

To approve the final plat for Ridgeland Trail or Briar Leaf Place, council voted, and their vote was five to the final authority on parcel joint. So there was no decision by council. And that's it.

Any questions for staff on item number five? Hearing none, item number six, request by the city of Temple on behalf of the Carroll County Board of Education for a rezoning request of parcel T zero four zero zero three zero zero one six land lot one seventy two district six for three acres the request is to check any comment temple high schools it will go it will just be a larger area for the practice field and a parking area any questions for staff Okay. Item number seven, hold a public hearing on the request by the Carroll County Board of Education. Is there anyone here tonight to speak in favor of this proposal? Anyone here tonight to speak in opposition to this proposal? Hearing none, we will close the public hearing. Item number eight, consider making a recommendation regarding the request made by the Carroll County Board of Education.

I'll make a motion that we recommend this to city council.

recommending approval we have a motion by Mr Waters to recommend approval to the city council for the request from the Carroll County Board of Education is there a second we have a second by Mr Stafford any discussion all in favor say aye opposed like sign The motion carries. This will go to the city council.
