City Council - Special Meeting

Good morning, everybody. This is a special council meeting. Today is, what day is it? Thursday, June 25th, 2026. The time is now 8.41 a.m. Madam Clerk, please call the roll.

I know it's not on the agenda, but I'd like to ask for a moment of silence for Venezuela and a prayer as we start to see the images unfold for what happened yesterday with the massive earthquakes. Thank you. All right. I don't think there's any additions or deletions to the agenda order of business. I will go ahead and open up public comments. Public comments is now open. Anyone who would like to speak at this time on anything germane to this council or anything on this agenda, please approach the podium. I don't see anyone in the audience or anyone coming in, so I will close public comments. Madam Clerk, I'd like to reflect on what is chosen to speak at this time, and we'll move right into the discussion item.

Thank you, Madam Mayor, Council. I'm calling for an executive session on the matter of City of Doral versus Pedro Cabrera et al. 2023-1811-5CA01.

Okay, perfect. I think we have decided that the In the Shade session will be on July 9th at 5 p.m. If that's what you... Councilman Pinedo, is that okay with you?

July what, I'm sorry? July 9th. 9th? Yes. Okay. That's fine.

All right, so we'll go ahead and schedule it for July 9th at 5 p.m. Is there any other comments? Okay, before we adjourn real quick, I know there's a lot of people reaching out to us to see what we can do to help Venezuela. So I would just let my colleagues know we're going to, I have a call with GEM that's in our city at 9 a.m. They are already deploying people to see if we could help with collections. I know there's a lot of people who want to bring stuff. So I'll work with the city manager's office so that we can start working on something that we can all be a part of.
