We are thankful for Our mayor, we are thankful for our city council members and those who are elected officials and doing their best to move our city forward. Father, we pray for those that have been affected by this storm today, and we ask that you bless them and that you take care of those that are currently in the path of this storm.

We ask that you take care of our service members who are serving both here and abroad.

The city of Radcliffe would like to recognize you for representing North Hardin High School and earning the distinction of qualifying for regional, state, national, and world championship competition. Your hard work, dedication, and determination exemplifies what can be achieved through perseverance and commitment to excellence. We commend you for your representation of your hometown of Radcliffe, as well as we look forward to what you will accomplish in the future. That's OK. It's always the first time.

One moment, ma'am.

My name is. Right.

And three years ago they started development where they tore down half the woods right on Right Cliff City Park. And they left it. They never came back. I called my close city hall. I left messages. I called the health department. I called everybody. It fell on deaf ears. No one did anything. It just left. It ended up building a pond that was deep. I didn't know how deep it was until I put it on Facebook. And I got replies from Terry Owens. Maria, Bob, Mohana, I believe it was. And he got a code of the code enforcement. They came, they started working on it immediately. It was at least 60 feet, maybe deeper. The mosquito infestation over there was crazy. I mean, millions, not a few, not a hundred, millions. For the mosquito infestation, I had called because I was worried because one tree line from the park, one tree line separated that water from the park. A kid put it around, and I even told him, are you going to have to wait for an accident to happen before you do anything? Because it made no sense. It was dangerous. It was a hazard. When they tore down the woods, they took the trees and their garbage and whatever their concrete, went in the piles, several piles, set it on fire, and they left. It burned all day, all night, smothered, and they just left it.

And that's how they did it.

And I'm 50 yards away from that mess. And they did nothing until I took it to Facebook. And the property sat there for three years. Now, They're filling it in. I have no idea what they plan on doing with it now, but they are working on it now. But it took three years. And I did call many times to Radcliffe City Hall and got nowhere. Until Facebook.

As Mayor Pro Tem sitting in for JJ, I really don't have to publicly respond to that because I can't speak for him. I'm not 100% of aware of the entire situation. I know you've called City Hall for years and personally I don't know of any other council member that has heard of that prior to your Facebook post which I think all of us saw that so The fact that it had to come out from Facebook, you know, I can honestly say that I hope we don't have to address situations through Facebook. And I think we addressed that last week at our meetings. So I can't speak for him. I don't have enough information on the property owner of the property. And to your point, things are being done. the property is being filled in. I hope that that will satisfy the issue. I hope that that will stop the pond and then things will be resolved from here.

I was also waiting from another person who it was a Cato property. Cato Durham. I don't know all the details on that, but I do know that I'm waiting on a file that supposedly being in a file for someone who worked for them for 15 years. that there was not supposed to be a development on that property because of a known, the ground sinking, a sinkhole.

Okay, but this is not city property.

No, no, it's private property.

Right. So... I appreciate you bringing that forward to us. And by all means, I appreciate the open discussion and coming here publicly. But I personally am going to have to leave that conversation, the rest of the conversation to the mayor. And hopefully you can meet with him personally.

JJ? Yes. I brought this up to him in, I go back to my Texas, I think in February when I met with him. because they wasn't picking up our garbage. And I kept calling and calling. I had problems with Green River. Wasn't picking it up. And then went to Republic because I'm in Oak Hill Mobile Park. And they would just, for a year, was not picking up our garbage. Maybe once a month they would come. And then I took it to Facebook. And next thing I know, they were doing balls on my porch. And I had told him then about the parts of property It's not the first time this has been brought up.

Right. And again, up until I saw your post on speaking for me personally, that's the first I have seen or heard about it. I will tell you that I know that we're working on, and I say we, the city, we are working on some ways to help better communications. That conversation has already been in the works, or it's in the works. Hopefully we can announce something, we will announce something next month that will help to eliminate Facebook conversations and then come straight to the city with a new implementation of a policy or a practice that we're going to try to implement starting once we can get this all lined out. And I hope that will eliminate Facebook conversations.

Well, that would be great because, like I said, I can show you on my phone the messages I've left, the time, the months, the dates, where I call City Hall.

If I can speak on you, right, it's not too much for us to talk about when I'm married here, but I've been down there twice. Yes. And on the second round of going down there, I actually talked to a couple of the dump truck workers for Durham, for Durham. So it looks like it's coming along quite well. I mean,

They had worked really hard and really fast.

They did. It's all about water retention, soil stabilization, and that temporary change. And I think they covered all of that. It's just the time.

I wasn't there the first time you came. I think you've seen the skills. You came yesterday. That's right. They were bad. I don't think it was bad the first time you came. They were already filling it in when you came. I think when you came, I wasn't there the first time. They were horrible.

My understanding is that that has been in the works for some time. Yeah, been in the works. And so I don't think we need to speak out of context for what our mayor could possibly answer. So I would like for him to be able to do that because he didn't know about it either.

Mr. Carey is number six. There's going to be consideration approval of the bid for salt. This is the salt that we use for during the winter months. You all did get two of those bids. And we do participate in the KLC process. That's Kentucky League of Cities where several of all the cities go in to purchase this at a bulk price. And so the delivery per ton over was 138 and delivery under 20 tons was 143. So we need a motion and a second.

Motion to accept both bids for the over 20 tons and the under 20 tons. I second. I second.

Motion to second. And then I know Mr. Roach at the work session asked about how much tonnage that we currently have up there. And our barn's quite almost full. So we're going to be purchasing some to get us ready for the winter. And then this also gives us options to purchase some during winter as we go along as needed. Mayor, I noticed that we have bids from some very reputable companies on this salt bid. But it looks to me like, if I'm not mistaken, Nature's Landscape Supply was the successful bidder. Are they located in Vine Grove?

That I don't, that I don't know when the bids come in. This is done by, the bid process is done by KLC. And so they put it out and then it helps us get buying power as we go in as a large group so we can get consult. And so that, Mr. Brown, I couldn't tell you.

Well, going into Vine Grove a couple of days ago, I noticed a company with that name and I just wondered if it was the same company.

The board of adjustments is Curtis Brunson and Bonnie Linscott. It's going to be 6-30, 2030. And the housing commission is going to be Ellen Thompson and Michael Fite, and their term will expire 6-30 of 2030.

I apologize for being late, but I have to say this is probably the first time in 16 years I've ever had this happen where a storm happened just before a meeting and we were kind of in that window of whether we have the meeting or don't have the meeting, but then the sun started to come up and Things started to alleviate, and then we had power going out. We had several trees down on several areas of the town, nothing major. The fire department went out. We had one down near Cali, and then we had the one, I think, over on Spring Street. I think that was it. Was that the other one? Arnold went up to the second one. We had a couple areas where ditches were over flooding. Stormwater came out and helped me clear out some of the ditches. Obviously, I wasn't in the correct clothes and shoes for that. And then the major thing that held me up before I could get to the meeting was at Wingstop in Mammoth Liquors, the roof line blew off. And so it was hanging. It just, you know, we didn't want it to fall off. And so we take the area off and the owner was there. And so we came up and assisted with the fire department came up. And we helped pull that off the roof so it wouldn't fall or damage any more of the property or the building or injure anybody. So that's what kind of delayed us or delayed me from getting back here. So I apologize. It's just never happened. Lights are power still out on Dixie. Both red lights are out. So traffic is still backed up. But I think overall, I haven't confirmed or talked to yet, and I'm going to reach out to him shortly after this to see if West Point had any damage. They had a lot of wind up there earlier. There were some reports of maybe a downed tornado at Fort Knox. I don't know if that came through. I haven't been able to – did you hear anything? I heard the same thing. Yeah, and so – Yeah, so we don't know if I haven't heard yet because I haven't been on my phone a whole lot. But the other thing is, of course, we had tornado sirens that were going off. And we just also want to remember when you hear the sirens, that doesn't necessarily mean it's on top of us. It could be in any part of Hardin County or entering Hardin County. But please monitor and be aware when that happens. Obviously, it's somewhere near us if it's going off. And so tornadoes can pop up, move very quickly. And so I don't know if Vine Grove or any of Elizabethtown any damage. But for us, I think we just had some downed trees, a couple power outages, and some straight line wind damage. So nothing could have been worse. But I apologize for being late. But I felt like I needed to be there assisting those people. So I apologize for that. Hopefully, you all did a good job without me and was able to. Did you do OK? Yes.

So if you're looking for a project for yourself or your children, go to Colvin. Friday the 24th is family, it's a family pool party. It's 6 to 8 p.m. at the Colvin Community Pool. I'm sure they're getting ready to wind the pool down soon when school starts, so go enjoy the pool. Also, someone messaged me earlier today of a new business, and I contacted the business owner that I did not know they were coming to town, but they are opening a new business Saturday, July 25th is the ribbon, or it's a grand opening, not a ribbon cutting, it's the grand opening at 10 o'clock I'm going to butcher the name, and I apologize, but it's called Chez Aletheia Friendly Market. Chez Aletheia Friendly Market. It is at 1772 South Dixie Boulevard in Radcliffe, and they have fresh produce and homemade items. I think they do crafts and different things like that as well. So I will be doing a live review of that on the grand opening morning. But you can check them out probably prior to that or go to their Facebook page. But that's a new business that's come to Radcliffe. And because school's starting soon, hope everyone has a safe and memorable school year.

Well, I think I saw something about dinner this Saturday night at auction. I think Maria Badastoni is kind of hitting that up. So that'll be back here at Colvin Community Center this Saturday night. Tickets are $25. Proceeds of that are to be raised for Wreaths Across America. And we keep adding more and more people to that. Cemetery, the Veterans Cemetery. So that's what that is to support our veterans that have passed and that are out here at the Veterans Cemetery. And as Councilwoman Merle said, school starts back up. It will start before we come back into session. So we want to make sure we are cognitive of that. It's going to be Thursday, June or Thursday, August the sixth. So we want to make sure we're watching for our kiddos and go out and support the schools because business, you know, be there to welcome our kids back to school. So very quick summer, it seems like.

That's what I just felt like. I know they changed the system, but I feel like our summer just went off forever when I was a kid.

I know. Down to two months, but, you know. maybe they retain more information by doing it the way we're doing it now as opposed to they get longer three months fall breaks i think it's more like an extra week and christmas they get yeah more breaks throughout the year but yes let's make sure we support our kids on the way back to school and watch out for those that may be walking mr brown uh nothing this week ma'am

I am going to continue on the Councilwoman Pam DeRoche about Maria's Battistoni and Donna Benson event on Saturday. For those who missed Maria Battistoni's shells, she's making a lot. She's making, she's on the 12th pan right now. She's doing all the cooking. So please buy the tickets. You can call Maria Battistoni, or you can call Colvin Community Center. It's at 6, 6.30, dinner, and Donna Batson is the one who started the Rites of America, and she has, she increases the number of the graves are increasing every year, and she needs about 100,000 money, dollars. to buy three times more wreaths. So Maria is giving, she's been cooking for a couple weeks now, getting together the menu and everything. And it's $25. It is the 25th of this month, this Saturday at 6, 6 o'clock, yeah, at Colvin Community Center. And if you need to go somewhere and you see a puddle, please don't go over it thinking that it's okay because it might not be okay. Be careful. That rain was really strong today. And that's all. Sir, I forgot to thank the communities that had the back to school backpack. all the activities to help defray some of the cost and the need for school supplies. And, you know, often if you don't have children in school, you never realize how much all this stuff starts to cost. once you load them up. And so for all the churches and the nonprofit organizations, some of them were stacked on just this past weekend, but I truly salute those individuals because a lot of times they get the stuff, they buy it themselves, and then they end up giving it away. So from Mary Gaither's over at the Human Resources Command to She and Co., you know, Heritage and all the other organizations around here, never take it for granted. I thank them for, we thank them for doing all of that. All right.
