City Council - Regular Meeting

Bringing us here and just having this much more deliberate discussion, it says to us, you're really putting more skin in the game. You're focused on the days that were impacted people's lives. I think one of the most important themes that's going on is that we all need to work together to make things better for the community.

Sometimes it's just getting back to the basics, right? Focus on the main big bottles that are at the end of the state.

You're not dealing with hardest finishing, you're dealing with the basics. As the council member said, getting back to the basics.

Water is going to be a huge issue in the future. Drainage around the Gulf Coast is a huge issue. Roads getting back and forth to areas are a huge issue.

Y'all, you're even more engaged. I think y'all have always been. The city of Baytown has always been engaged with the council members coming up. When you're at the Capitol, we're hustling, bustling, moving from one thing to another. And here, it was all Baytown. We're focused, we're here, we're present in every way. How do you balance statewide priorities versus the local priorities? I have priorities. I also want to make sure that we're not letting railroad companies off the hook because they still need to do a better job. This is the first time that any of my cities have done something like this. I hope it's something that we continue to do on a regular basis.

I really appreciate them showing up for not only us, but our citizens today.
