2:51 – 3:13Speaker 1

Yeah. There is no presentations. Right? Actually, I don't know if it's Oh, that was one thing that Colleen was gonna go over is our new maybe this is out of order, though.

3:13Speaker 2

She got all of our yeah. Nope. Probably later.

3:22 – 3:44Speaker 1

I have to approve the minutes from the last reading. Yeah. We can go right on it and probably accept or deny the meeting minutes from from April 24 is you know? Uh-oh. Yeah. I make a motion to approve the minutes. Move. Yes. Thank you,

3:46Speaker 2

I'm here for you,

3:47Speaker 4

girl. We got the.

3:50Speaker 1

Second meeting minutes from April 24. So okay. Does anybody wanna motion to

3:59Speaker 5

Second. Second.

4:01 – 4:19Speaker 2

Third. Alright. I'll take role following it. Minutes again. Mhmm. Liza, yes, no, or abstain? Yes. Celia? Yes. Wanda? Yep. Mohammad? Tom?

4:21Speaker 2

4:25Speaker 1

Melissa? Yes.

4:27 – 4:38Speaker 2

Bingo? Yes. Deborah? Yes. Sandu? George? Yes. And that passes.

4:40 – 4:55Speaker 1

I'm feeling this best. Okay. So that leads to the cleaning brain question fiscal year twenty twenty six budget and financial report.

4:57 – 5:11Speaker 2

So you guys have a copy of that financial report in your packet? That's the only thing that changed on it was we reimbursed Tom for Donut. That's the only difference between the previous month and this month.

5:12Speaker 1

Thank you, Tom.

5:21Speaker 2

I don't see it in the back.

5:25Speaker 6

Yeah. I guess we don't.

5:28Speaker 3

She said she just gave the difference.

5:31Speaker 3

Charge the.

5:35Speaker 5

doesn't say for the previous subjects.

5:45 – 6:04Speaker 2

K. So I'll just I'll just read it here. On 07/16, we reimbursed Tom $88 for the coffee and doughnuts for the June event. So your budget balance right now is $9,912. Okay.

6:09 – 6:46Speaker 1

Yeah. I mean, I I have something to add to the budget. But, again, maybe this is for later in the meeting that we have we have had a couple of plant vendors on our list for $200 loan. And I would hope that we could actually have them put on our purchase order again for this next fiscal budget year. It's only $200.

6:46 – 7:29Speaker 1

It's it actually doesn't need a vote because it's less than $500. And, you know, and hopefully, we could use those that money and plants to to actually do some of our planting projects that hopefully will get approved by the city and our as maintenance people. So that's that's pretty much it. What vendor is it? Well, it's down by the bay and also Green Thumb West.

7:30Speaker 6

Have we have we had a PO with them before?

7:32 – 7:50Speaker 1

Yes. Yeah. Okay. Previously. Yeah. Sorry. Victoria. Yeah. Thank you. I'm sorry. Because yeah. No. Great. Actually, because, yeah, Colleen knows about it. You know about it. It's yeah. And so we already the city already paid them.

7:51Speaker 2

Last year. Pardon? Last fiscal year. Right?

7:55Speaker 3

Yes. Mhmm. Because we didn't get yet plants. Pardon? But plants, we didn't get it yet.

8:03 – 8:23Speaker 1

Not yet. So we we get to use those that we've already paid them. So we get to use those plants for a planting project that we want to do any of you can suggest and decide that we get to use those plants. I suggest my house okay.

8:26Speaker 3

I endorse your policy.

8:29Speaker 2

Well, trust me. I thought about it. You. No.

8:33Speaker 1

It has to be for the city. So yeah. But we can do that. What's an an option? Anybody that has any idea for it?

8:44Speaker 2

If what if one of us had a doctor block? Could we use them there? Mhmm. Yes. Good question.

8:53Speaker 1

Just asking. That is a a thought.

8:58Speaker 6

I think the question would be I think the question would be where are you planting them? On city property or on private property? City property. City property site. And then who's gonna be expected to maintain them?

9:08Speaker 2

Adopt blockers. Adopt a block people.

9:12Speaker 3

Adopt a block. You're still putting it. Adopt a block

9:14Speaker 1

Sandra Frost would be speaking up if she was here, she would be speaking up about that because, actually, her Adopt a Block, was thinking. Eating Garden Club, all of that.

9:23Speaker 6

But yeah, I think that falls under the, like, case by case basis, but we could probably make it work. Mean,

9:33 – 9:47Speaker 1

yeah, I mean, it's an idea. It's a thought and actually promoting promoting greener spaces. Supporting our pollinators. You know?

9:47Speaker 3

What was the process? What was the official process? I mean, look. Do you

9:52 – 10:11Speaker 1

Council member Andrews, like, what would you think about that? I wonder if Access Hayward where you have the adopt well, adopt a tree. Maybe it's for Mhmm. The doctor planner, and then it gives you the opportunity to corral the request, but also have a disclaimer upon approval.

10:11Speaker 6

Yeah. Upon approval and that you're responsible for it. And if it's out of control and the city takes action Yep. To rip it out because you didn't maintain it, then that's Mhmm. Okay. Yep.

10:22 – 10:35Speaker 1

I mean, I'm doing my own, like, pollinator pathway right now. And, yeah, I'm gonna be planting plants that actually support our whole One of

10:35 – 11:08Speaker 6

the things I was gonna mention later, like, mentioned now that we've been working on internally as a team with the task force having task force. The commission having having less events and everything, and we've been discussing internally different planting locations, whether they are bolt ons to events or some standalones we can plug in through the year. Mhmm. There's there's a few opportunities of things that we wanna do that are actually really good partnership opportunities. So I was planning the next meeting to probably bring a list of locations, some pictures, and some ideas.

11:09 – 11:48Speaker 1

I would love that because, again, as I mentioned earlier this evening, I've been working with not only Chabot young ones and then eating youth. They really they really want opportunities to to do something good for the environment and to help them, you know, not get involved in in bad stuff with and and we're the one we're the commission that can do that, can help them with that. For sure. So

11:48 – 12:09Speaker 6

And we, you know, we also in conjunction, we you guys are aware that we have the tree planting grant Mhmm. And at the current time Yes. Called Wood. Federal government has continued to reimburse us, so we're trying to move quickly before they change their mind. So there are some opportunities for sure to leverage different things.

12:10 – 12:36Speaker 1

Okay. Well, I I hope that we can, as a commission, continue to have make those connections. Eden Youth, they're they're just an awesome organization, and they're really, really trying to support their their young people. Yeah. Okay. That's all I gotta say

12:36 – 12:52Speaker 2

on that. Okay. So you need to go over the Clean and Green Commission 2026 meeting schedule. There were a couple things that

12:56 – 13:08Speaker 1

the 2026. Yes. And without calling here, I'm not sure if I can explain. I I would probably. So

13:09 – 13:39Speaker 2

Excuse me, baby. As of this month, you guys know, normally, we always meet on the third Thursday of the month. We're actually meeting early this week because next Thursday is the Hayward Street party. Yep. That is gonna fall on the same thing next year in 2026. So it is proposed that you guys go ahead and move up the date like you guys did this year Mhmm. In August to reflect that change.

13:39 – 13:56Speaker 1

So there's the no same thing. Like, same thing what we're doing this year is gonna be the same thing for next year. If anybody has a problem with that, let us know now. But it's not that big a deal. Like, just it's gonna be the same thing. Different year.

13:56Speaker 2

That's And then all sleep with Sutter,

14:00 – 14:26Speaker 2

Also in October, the library has their trunk or treat on the Saturday cleanup on the same day of your Saturday cleanup event. So they're not set in stone yet. We've not gotten word exactly what date they're going to be on, but it's normally always on that Saturday before Halloween.

14:26Speaker 1

The twenty fifth? Twenty fifth.

14:30 – 14:48Speaker 2

So that could be a conflict. Colleen has not had concrete definitive answer yet. Going forward, just know that that might need to change or that that would also be going at the same time.

14:53Speaker 6

I'm sorry. Is it did you indicate a date that you were considering moving into?

15:08 – 15:36Speaker 2

Did not in two years the last two years prior, you guys moved it up a week. So instead of the fourth Saturday, you guys moved it up to the third. Historically so it would the events aren't actually October 24. I apologize. Not the twenty fifth.

15:39 – 16:00Speaker 2

The dates of the last two October events, you guys moved up one week to avoid the conflict. So that staff recommendation is to approve the schedule as it is proposed and then encourage you guys to engage in the clubs early to secure that your guys' participation.

16:02 – 16:23Speaker 6

As we're as we're talking about potential conflicts, I think there there is also there's also a June conflict with the All America Festival. And as a staff team, one of the things that we've talked about is churn out in the summer is very, very low. Very, very low too. You wanna talk about that one about

16:23 – 17:02Speaker 1

Well, thank you, Todd, for being on the Yeah. Yes. And I've actually spoken with council member Anders about the same thing. And I've spoken with Colleen about this as well that it's just kind of it's always low turnout and that maybe we could well, as far as my thinking is that we could piggyback on the All American Festival that's at Tennyson And Hisperean. What's the park called over there? Eden? Eden. Yes. So it's a great turnout over there. Mhmm.

17:02 – 17:13Speaker 1

And I think rather than us, you know, well, I don't know. I mean, we always need to clean up the streets. Like, there's a lot

17:13 – 17:51Speaker 6

of The recommendation the one recommendation I can offer that that Colleen and I spoke of is, to your point, there's there's a lot of effort and work that goes into staging a June cleanup event for very few people showing up. So potentially using the task force and their resources to staff a table to do something at All America Festival in exchange for a lost event Yeah. Commit to a stand alone planting event sometime in the fall. Yeah. Because really for us, like, we really look we really look for planting events that we can do in the fall because we'll get the winner's ring immediately thereafter.

17:51 – 18:02Speaker 6

And whether that planting event, you know, is just is just the task force members Well or in some. I mean, I think we can be flexible on that.

18:02Speaker 1

We could invite maybe in the youth commission Mhmm. Or even participate in those events. But, yeah, it's not necessarily open to the public. Correct.

18:11 – 18:26Speaker 6

That's that that was the conversation that we had. I think it's really up to the task force to make a decision if they wanna keep the traditional scene event or or potentially just work at the the All American Festival is fully up to the task force.

18:26Speaker 1

Well, this is an

18:28Speaker 2

interesting in

18:30 – 19:13Speaker 1

in my sort of communication with members of our society, they actually like, young ones, they're more interested in planting, like, doing some planting stuff rather than just picking up trash. Yeah. Which I mean, yes. We still need to get the trash off our streets. I mean, hello. It's happening right in front of the city hall. Mhmm. But if we can, you know, gather new members, new young people that are interested in planting trees, plants, you know, like, I'm all for that too. And that's what they're interested in. They are interested in planting.

19:14 – 19:25Speaker 1

So let's do that too. Like, maybe it does make more sense to mix the the June trash pickup event and do a planting project instead.

19:26 – 19:39Speaker 6

And my my suggestion with that if that is going to happen that we would aim for September since it's an empty month if we're gonna do a a stand alone planting event. September is usually good for us just because you have October events.

19:41Speaker 1

Yeah. And like you said, I agree with you, Todd, that it's better to plant do the plantings when, hopefully, there's rain coming.

19:53 – 20:09Speaker 6

Then I can I can definitely aside from the summer events, I think I can I can commit to having some type of planting at just about every event? Really? Yeah. I mean, there's only four events.

20:09Speaker 1

I think you can You guys can do?

20:11Speaker 6

Something. I mean, scope and scope and size, like, I think vary, but we can I think we can do something?

20:17Speaker 1

Chair? Yes. What about mailbox paintings? Mhmm. If like, alternate alternate plantain, mailbox.

20:28Speaker 6

Mailbox painting be Mule. Mule box painting. Like, utility box. Mhmm. If we can identify locations, I think we can do something.

20:38Speaker 2

Below the paints? I think we

20:40Speaker 1

I don't think anything. And,

20:42 – 20:56Speaker 2

also, you guys, you have the calendar in your packets, and she has all the dates and where the conflict was. So in case you want to look at it on paper, he has that in there.

21:12Speaker 2

We're gonna We'll work on edge. Okay. But we'll make that. You're welcome, baby. Alright. Okay.

21:28Speaker 1

Okay. So do we wanna talk about what's coming up our street party situation.

21:37Speaker 2

Well, we need to finish with the action item.

21:40Speaker 1

Okay. Sorry.

21:41 – 21:53Speaker 2

That's okay. That's okay. I didn't hear. I wanted to party. Let me tell you. If you guys have any if you wanna propose to adopt the 2026 calendar with those changes.

21:57Speaker 1

I make a motion to accept the changes. So

22:01Speaker 6

This one? Could could somebody state the changes to make sure that we that we're capturing it right? Just changes based on staff recommendation. Correct?

22:09 – 22:24Speaker 6

So June is June is the All American Festival, September planting event stand alone task force youth commission utility box painting. That's the motion?

22:24Speaker 2

Correct. Okay. I have

22:26 – 22:39Speaker 6

a question because, chair mentioned having doing the planting when it's raining versus in September. So are we still gonna do planting in September when there's no rain?

22:40 – 23:02Speaker 1

Oh, sorry, Deborah. Like, I I should not have maybe said that. It's only, like, just basically I I think based on what Todd was saying that, you know, if we do it a little bit later in the year, then there's a potential for rain Mhmm. To help out plants that we plant.

23:02 – 23:33Speaker 6

I I would say whether whether we're doing September or November or whenever it is, we're we're a year away. It's not on the calendar. It's not something that we didn't notice for the Brown Act. I think we can be flexible and Mhmm. You know, firm it up as we get closer to what works. Yeah. I mean, honestly, just just being from the staff side, the the preparation and stuff for planting events is not it's not that it's not that bad for us, to be really honest. I mean Okay. In all actuality, we could probably do two. I won't do September and November, to be honest.

23:33 – 23:48Speaker 6

We did early November too. We'll be flexible. Like I said, we have grant money to get trees in the ground, and we need to get them in the ground. And if we have able bodies and help here, we would take every bit of that help. Well, sure.

23:48Speaker 1

Is staff on is staff still working with at all?

23:56Speaker 2

Update them.

23:58 – 24:22Speaker 6

Yeah. We update them on on we update them on the grant and everything else. I don't know that we're act we are in active dialogue with them because we're working on some tree storage and some other things with them right now. So there's there's definitely continued dialogue going on. The grant that we applied for in partnership with them Mhmm. We did not get. Oh. So some of that didn't materialize. But

24:22 – 24:51Speaker 1

And I I know the maintenance you had over there. You guys have your own kind of nursery. Right? Mhmm. With trees and stuff. Yeah. So, I mean, I've seen that. Yeah. It's interesting. Mhmm. Okay. So we have our like, our city has some of their own tree resources and plant resources. For sure. Do you have a goal with that, Grant? How do you do that by a certain time?

24:52Speaker 6

The commitment I wanna say that we made is that we were gonna plant an additional 250 trees per year for Woah. Three years? Okay.

25:02Speaker 3

That was the ballpark.

25:05 – 25:30Speaker 6

I think we're waiting on we're we're we're in the midst right now of starting the tree inventory on the on the software piece and everything. It's a per tree cost. I think we have an idea of how many trees we have within a 5,000 tree range citywide. Whatever monies that we don't use on the software side, that's gonna add to the tree planting side. So

25:32Speaker 3

it should be

25:38 – 26:13Speaker 2

Okay. So before we move on on this part, I just wanna go over the cleanup event locations also so we can do a motion once for the dates and the locations. So these are just based off of your guys' history of where you guys went each year, every other year, things like that. So for example, in February for 2026, your staging location is gonna be Longwood Elementary. And then in April, the theme of event is at Weeks Park.

26:15 – 26:54Speaker 2

June, we're going to go ahead and take that off of the calendar and then support the All American Festival. August, you're doing Park. And then October, the date so it does not conflict with crumper treating, and that will be at Park. Yep. So what I need is I need someone to make the motion to approve the meeting dates that we're moving the August 1 up.

26:56 – 27:16Speaker 2

And then I need to approve the that we're changing October, and then we're canceling June. So when you make your motion, please please mention the. Oh, I just wanna put my.

27:17Speaker 1

Juneteenth. Actually, it might be June 13

27:21Speaker 2

this year. Instead of the nineteenth? Yeah. Okay. Thank you.

27:28 – 27:42Speaker 1

So does somebody want to motion for approval of this timeline? Bobby? What she said. Yeah.

27:43Speaker 4

I second what she said.

27:46Speaker 2

Okay. So moving to August meeting at one week.

27:50 – 28:02Speaker 1

The week before. Moving the date of October so it doesn't line up with trunk or treat. Get rid of June and have September as a stand alone planning.

28:05 – 28:25Speaker 2

Sounds good. And the second? Second. Moment. Oh, okay. Yes. Yes. Quinn? Yes. Mohonet? Tom?

28:25Speaker 1

Yes. Sandra?

28:30 – 28:43Speaker 2

Melissa? Yes. Shingo? Yes. Deborah? Yes. Andrew? George?

28:43Speaker 3

Yes. Thank you, Beth. I'm sure I

28:45Speaker 2

have a question. Yeah.

28:47Speaker 1

Can we circulate this to city council as well? Yes.

29:23Speaker 1

Alright. What's the rest? Yeah. Okay.

29:25 – 29:54Speaker 2

So there's no submission updates. The financial report, we went over. Attendant report, I believe that was included in the original that phone sent out. I did receive notification. These are actually broken right now, so that is why they would not turn on so I can't put anything on the screen. So I do apologize for that. And then we have subcommittee reports.

29:57 – 30:36Speaker 7

I can report out on the subcommittee regarding the legal dumping prevention program. So so far, we have met four times, and we meet monthly. So it's usually the second Saturday of every month. In the meeting before last, we talked a lot about the fact that when it comes to preventing dumping, we really want people to identify with the issues that dumping causes. So a lot of times when we just talk about the environment, people go, oh, yeah.

30:36 – 31:09Speaker 7

Okay. You know? I don't always care about the environment, or maybe I do, but, you know, it's a little further away than being more personal to them. So what we did was we actually decided that we would do what's called a statement of commitment. And so a statement of commitment is when a city decides to provide resources and all to the safety and well, I I will just say for the safety of their entire community.

31:09 – 31:40Speaker 7

So that's kind of a a statement. So our statement that we developed regarding illegal dumping has to do with hazardous to your health. So our statement is this. Illegal dumping is hazardous to our health, our children's health, our neighbors' health, the health of our neighborhoods, the health of our city. This is a man a human made problem and one that humans can solve.

31:42 – 32:40Speaker 7

Research has shown that living in and around a site can lead to health risks in addition to impacts to the environment. So that's the statement that we came up with to make it more personal to everyone so people can see that it's close to them. You know, if you're talking about health, then, I mean, how can you dispute what's happening with your health versus something a little further away for some people as it relates to the environment? So we also did what hopefully will probably turn into a poster at some point, but under illegal dumping is hazardous to your health, so health risks, exposure to toxic substances, infectious diseases, injuries and trauma, mental health issues, violence and crime. There's also, of course, environmental impacts about water and soil contamination, air pollution, and land degradation.

32:40 – 33:18Speaker 7

But we're really gonna talk a lot about the fact that there are a lot of health risks as it relates to a lethal dumping. So with that, we also decided that we would look at and thanks to Colleen, who's not here, but we looked at several a map that had several sites and a lot of hotspots, you know. And thank you, George, for all of that as well. And the hotspots show various the reason they're hotspots is because people have actually put in, like, Access Hayward and things like that to say, okay. You know, I have a problem here.

33:18Speaker 7

I have a problem there. So one of the hotspots has to do with Huntwood Avenue, and the other one is Allendale.

33:28Speaker 6

Allendale. Allendale.

33:30 – 34:09Speaker 7

Allendale. Allendale. Thank you. You. Court. So those are the two that we're going to concentrate on right now. We're gonna actually take a field trip out on Thursday and look at those particular areas. So I would say that's probably an update for now. More to come. We really want to, at various, you know, cleanup events and other events we have, to be able to offer resources to customers so they know what to do with some of the things they have, like tires and so forth. So we're working on that as well and also looking to see what others are doing. So I don't know

34:09Speaker 1

if you wanna

34:09Speaker 7

add anything, Tom. Yeah.

34:12 – 34:43Speaker 6

I've I've been communicating with, and I appreciate the subcommittee's work. From a staff perspective, we've attended the meetings thus far. We are gonna start circling in now and overlaying that with staff perspective, recommendations, past practices, and really work collaboratively to try to come up with a campaign that I think is both effective and one that's also manageable that we can see it through from one end to the other. So I think we're excited and committed to it and looking forward to it. We appreciate your guys' work.

34:47 – 35:01Speaker 1

Thank you, That's that's amazing. Yeah. I I love that statement. That's awesome. I would like to just put a little idea in here.

35:02 – 35:44Speaker 1

Does anybody remember the Literati project? And that, we've got our sustainability commission that was analyzing that. And, again, I was actually a part of that. Went out and looked at massive, like, massive amounts of trash sites and big ones. So is anybody from the city actually really looking at what Literati and their their their information that they gave back to us.

35:44Speaker 1

I mean, I actually have that report. Mhmm. Believe it or not, I have it. Oh, I can

35:50 – 36:02Speaker 6

check-in with Public Works. I know that Eric Pearson and his team were Yep. Partnering and managing that. Mhmm. Since they manage the waste management contract, I think there were some nexus they were

36:02Speaker 1

trying to Yes.

36:03Speaker 6

But I can check-in so much.

36:05Speaker 7

They have, like,

36:05 – 36:38Speaker 1

a hot spot for ours. So Our city has that report. I it's you guys have it. And it's like, okay. This is, like, exactly that. Like, where is the illegal dumping sites happening? They did a, like, big time, overview of our city, like, bird's eye view of our city and where are the dumping sites happening. It's in our arsenal of information.

36:41 – 37:22Speaker 1

where is that? Great. Okay. Maybe I should just send that to you. Anyway okay. So that was the something, any updates. Can we get to what is coming up next, which is our next event, which is the downtown street party? Is that okay to talk about that now?

37:24Speaker 3

I think it is.

37:26Speaker 1

So Did we have any other

37:31Speaker 2

committee reports?

37:34Speaker 1

What's that? Any other committee?

37:36Speaker 7

Oh, no. We had any

37:37Speaker 1

more No. There's no other subcommittee reports that I know of. Did we wanna do

37:43Speaker 2

the debrief or the What's that?

37:46Speaker 7

Or debrief from the last section?

37:50Speaker 6

Yeah. The next thing up on the agenda is debrief.

37:52Speaker 2

Debrief. Oh.

37:58 – 38:17Speaker 1

How we like, how we felt less. Sure. Was like, yeah. We can do that. Yeah. Does anybody have any thoughts or comments on our last cleanup event?

38:19Speaker 7

I thought it went pretty well in terms of what we cleaned up, you know, because in addition to our truck, you know, the

38:25Speaker 1

mayor came out. Yes.

38:27Speaker 7

And so we had the mayor

38:28Speaker 3

Neighbors truck. Truck. Got two, three trucks from neighbors.

38:32 – 39:06Speaker 7

Yes. We did. We did indeed. So for that help. And I think one thing that we could look at just going forward is where our site was. You know, we we probably should have been across the street, you know, because it was right in the turning lane. So we we would have had the better sight right across the street where the park was and so forth. So I just think next time we get a chance to do a site visit or something like that, we'll realize we should be across the street. We did use cones and all that to kind of direct the traffic, but it was really, you know, turning lane. I think that would

39:06Speaker 1

be the confusing. At the beginning, people were steady right waiting behind our truck to turn, and they're like, no. Go around. Right. Right. Yeah. Go around.

39:14 – 39:25Speaker 7

Go around. Right. Right. So but other than that, I I don't know what we collected. I think we were gonna measure the amount of litter or something that we collected. I don't know how

39:25Speaker 1

much we collected, but We are. The the June cleanup. The one you just had. The June cleanup. Yeah.

39:35Speaker 7

The one that we had Yeah.

39:36 – 39:48Speaker 1

There was a lot of a lot of work. Yeah. There was yeah. And folks came out. Mhmm. We allowed some folks to basically

39:48 – 40:12Speaker 1

the bring bring their stuff. Yeah. It's like I guess Again, illegal. Yeah. Just bring it, and we're like, yeah. This is not it's not particularly, like, a cleanup. Like Yes. Disposal day or bulk pickup situation. But there were people that came and were asking, can we bring our stuff? Yes.

40:12 – 40:26Speaker 5

So I think we need to bring it up here now because we believe that we were planning to discuss it here in this meeting. So is this okay or not okay? I guess the general consensus, yes. Of course. Why not? Right? I mean, is it?

40:26Speaker 1

It it yeah. I don't know. Like, should we allow that? Yeah. I think it's we should advertise it, but if

40:33Speaker 2

somebody asked us like these guys did, I think I think it's okay.

40:36Speaker 1

Yeah. Because I'd much rather them do that than dump it. Would I would get the dates of the dumping days and the registration. Yes.

40:47Speaker 2

two to one day.

40:48Speaker 1

Do that. Say in the future,

40:50Speaker 2

right, go get dumping day.

40:53 – 41:29Speaker 1

Yep. Just don't don't I wouldn't necessarily reject it unless you start seeing a trend. Yeah. But Okay. I wouldn't have that information available. Just maybe you could put it on your iPad or on your phone. Yeah. Because by that, I did talk with Colleen about the dump tickets from Yeah. Waste management. I did actually talk to her about that. And thing is is that the city wants us to promote the bookie pickup days, and and so waste management is not gonna give us those those tickets.

41:29Speaker 7

We're not getting anymore at any

41:30Speaker 1

point in time. I think

41:33Speaker 7

I'm getting a handful.

41:34Speaker 6

I hadn't heard I hadn't heard that, but I but Columbia and

41:36Speaker 3

other community gave it to me.

41:37 – 42:00Speaker 1

I I would also say people would get the tickets, and I don't know if they would actually use them. So I would promote the bulky pickup and the dumping Right. Because the city wants us to be promoting basically bulky pickup and disposal days. So I I don't know, Bliva. I apologize. I don't know, but I can't I believe you need

42:00Speaker 7

to apologize for anything. But

42:02Speaker 6

But vouchers vouchers are still available. I think we've been trying to refer people to public works to get the vouchers. I think they are holding on to them a little tighter than distributing them.

42:11 – 42:26Speaker 1

Right. So isn't it Jeff Krump that basically is connected with waste management, and he's like, okay. Like, we're not gonna get so many of those. Like, you guys the city was giving us, like, a 100 of them for the year.

42:27Speaker 1

I mean, there was a lot.

42:28Speaker 6

And I'll I'll follow.

42:30Speaker 7

Yeah. I think

42:31Speaker 1

this just We're down to two.

42:33 – 42:51Speaker 7

Yeah. Because we have the team I can't remember their names. There's 52 sometimes in the brother. The family is Right. They come. Yep. And they've been coming to our cleanups all the time. And we even celebrated them for the Hard Hayward. Yeah. The Hard Hayward Award.

42:51Speaker 1

Right? Yeah. It's

42:52 – 43:30Speaker 7

such a fun place. We've always provided Yeah. Dump tickets for them, and we've just done it all the time throughout all the years. So it's only maybe two for each cleanup or maybe three at the most that we could always just put aside just for them because of the fact that they come to every single cleanup, and we we ordered them in the past. And they actually look for us to give them because that's what we've been doing throughout the years. So I would just say if we just put three aside yeah. They well, we they expect it right now. Maybe we have three aside just for them, and that's it for the event. That's the only thing I was thinking.

43:30 – 44:05Speaker 1

Blayba had a good point is that we are trying as you're leading the policy subcommittee, that we are really trying to fight for, like, eradicating illegal dumping. And those those waste management free free things to go to the the dumps, it it actually does make a difference. Mhmm. You know? And so we don't need a 100 of them, but maybe a little bit because we're still promoting, as you said, Guayla, you know, let's not illegal dump. You know?

44:06 – 44:47Speaker 2

Okay. So what I would suggest and what I can I can do to help mitigate the conversation Oh? Number one, don't allow people just to bring their personal trash because you will turn into an impromptu disposal day. Yeah. Okay? And for somebody who's worked every disposal day we have, that's a lot of work on you guys. Yeah. Okay? Not to mention, you do it once, and you're gonna get it every time. Because even now, we have people that go, oh, I can't bring that? Okay. Well, we'll let you do it this time. And then every time it's, oh, I can't

44:48 – 45:14Speaker 2

Mhmm. So your guys' goal as the committee is to clean up the grounds, and I would really suggest sticking to that so you guys don't spread yourselves too thin. You wanna be great at one thing, not mediocre at a bunch of things. And I think Yeah. What we can what we can do to help is we will make sure you guys get some vouchers.

45:14 – 45:46Speaker 2

I can't guarantee how many, but we will make sure we we give you guys some for those instances, if they're few and far between. And then also, as part of the education part, tell them about the bulky pickup. Tell them about disposal days. Because you guys would be surprised. We advertise the disposal days all the time. We have about 500 people register every time we do it. I would say 90% of them do not realize that they have a bulky pickup option.

45:47Speaker 1

Yeah. I wanna go Yep.

45:48Speaker 2

So Mhmm. That is a good one to prepare. For tires. Yep.

45:52Speaker 7

Yep. They take tires.

45:53 – 46:17Speaker 2

You know? Just go to the website. They can get it. I have people call my garage that say, oh, I have this. Okay. Well, let me get you to the right information for a bulky pickup. So that is a weapon you have in your arsenal that will really, really help. But I will make sure Colleen gets some of those vouchers for you guys for those little one offs.

46:17 – 46:50Speaker 1

Okay. That would be we would be grateful for that. Okay. Okay. And so, yes, our job as a commission is to help people to inform inform education. It's freed up. Like, we need to tell people, here's your options. Here's a possibility. You don't have to just dump something on the side of the street. You got options free.

46:50 – 47:08Speaker 1

Free. It's free. Thanks to the city. So yeah. So, again, I'm gonna say, like, is it time now that we need to talk about oh, go ahead.

47:08 – 47:28Speaker 4

I'm sorry. I was just gonna say about the bulky pickup when the city is doing. Is there advertisement or leaflets that we give from when people line up for the bulky pickup that they drop off at the city about having two bulky pickups already that they have in their arsenal. Or maybe we can match for the bill.

47:28Speaker 1

We have that in the in the trailer. Yes.

47:32Speaker 4

Oh, in the trailer too.

47:33Speaker 1

Yeah. So anybody that wants to come help me organize the trailer and the shed and do that kind of stuff, anybody.

47:42Speaker 4

And the city has it too.

47:44Speaker 4

They pass that out. They in.

47:46Speaker 1

And it needs to be put out on the tables that we can pass that along to our fellow citizens.

47:53 – 48:24Speaker 6

The folks that work defining the line at the disposal days, you know, when we did that as a pilot, we they really did a great job of engaging, interacting, asking questions, educating, talking about the bulky pickup. And to everyone's point, so many people don't know about the bulky pickup. So we we've we've developed literature and things that they pass out on the front end of the house when people come in. It's it's it's a good opportunity. But just giving people the benefit of the doubt sometimes that you think they're aware of things that they're just honestly, they're just not.

48:24 – 48:47Speaker 2

And I've even grabbed my cell phone, went on to the Hayward website, and helped them find that page. So that might even be something you've you know, if they have a question or if they want it right now and they're not sure how to do it, because some of our our citizens aren't as tech savvy as some other ones. So that is also something you guys can do.

48:47Speaker 4

About the waste management pickups?

48:49Speaker 2

The bulky pickups through Hayward.

48:51Speaker 4

Oh, okay. I was talking about the waste management ones that we everybody gets.

48:54Speaker 3

He's talking about twice a year.

48:57Speaker 6

Yeah. Twice a year. That's that's what I'm talking about.

48:59Speaker 3

The same thing.

49:00 – 49:12Speaker 1

He he Okay. Two free bulky pickups Yeah. For your residence, your house, whatever. Instead of hitting everybody? Yeah. And that's through waste management, I'm pretty sure. Right?

49:12 – 49:56Speaker 6

Before you skip the street party, can I cover the next thing on the agenda, which is the 08/23 event? FYI, we have nine people registered as of yesterday. With that, August 19, next Tuesday, council's back in session for the first time here in in a minute. Right? The nineteenth? This. That night, there will be a proclamation out for the adopt a block day that will be Yeah. Coming Yeah. We have 28 people that have RSVP'd to attend the council meeting when the proclamation will be given to the adopt a block day. And five groups have committed to cleaning up their blocks at the same day that you'd on the eight twenty three Weeks Park event.

49:56Speaker 6

So we did get a little bit of traction with that idea with adopt a block groups, feeling some recognition and stuff. So

50:04 – 50:17Speaker 1

And, yeah, thank you, Todd, for, making the T shirts for the adopt a block recognition, and they are really cool T shirts. We have

50:17Speaker 6

a lot of them. That's for sure.

50:22Speaker 2

Okay. Well, I'll go out here and adopt a block so I

50:25Speaker 6

can Yeah. Right.

50:30Speaker 1

I have a T shirt here.

50:33Speaker 2

I can get one.

50:34Speaker 6

Honey, street party is up now on the agenda. You're up. Take let's hear it. Like a street party.

50:39 – 51:08Speaker 1

So okay. Many of you, they were a part of the previous street party. We were all very frustrated because we were right next to the music station, and we couldn't actually hardly speak or tell anybody all the wonderful information about bulky pickups and stuff like that. So guess what? Me and Colleen, we figured it out. We're moving.

51:08Speaker 6

Closer to the music. No.

51:12Speaker 1

We couldn't get any closer to the music than from last week.

51:15Speaker 6

You're getting closer to the music.

51:19Speaker 2

We have the bandstand. Yeah. It's fun.

51:21Speaker 1

It was really fun. Like, it was

51:24Speaker 4

Fun to watch. Dancing.

51:25 – 51:41Speaker 1

Do the dancing. See, like, beautiful dancing. The music was great, but I'm like, what is the purp what is our purpose for that event? And so, unfortunately fortunately or unfortunately, we're moving. We're moving.

51:41 – 52:25Speaker 1

Fortunately. But that means that where the truck the truck and trailer are parked, I'm gonna make sure I'm going to make sure the week before that everything is kinda lightweight for us to move from truck and the trailer so that we can actually have this be a part of this event. So I am going to need your help, definitely. Need your help. But I wanna make sure that everything is sort of lightweight, and me and Colleen have gotten one of the little trailer.

52:25 – 52:53Speaker 1

Yes. I have a suggestion. Yes. Just remember the street party is only three hours. I know. So I would say if you just in case you guys don't get your ideal spot, because sometimes things shift with shift street parties. Mhmm. Don't feel bad. As long as you guys give out the information of when the cleanups are and some swag for kids, that's the most important.

52:53Speaker 2

Mhmm. Colleen, have a good day. And that helps you plan, make it lighter for you.

52:58Speaker 1

Oh, thank you. I appreciate it.

53:00Speaker 2

Colleen has worked with the chamber, and they said they will do their best to move.

53:06Speaker 1

So you're right. Did you hear that? I did. And I've been talking Do their best.

53:14Speaker 1

That's what I'm saying.

53:16 – 53:32Speaker 1

means don't hold your breath. But Yeah. I'm trying. Honestly, like, I'm on a phone with Colleen on a regular basis. And if her and I have, like we're kinda working it out. So It's not coming. It's just good.

53:33Speaker 2

Because they have a they have I think they have over they already identified a 100 meters. Mhmm. Yeah. So that's what that Okay.

53:39Speaker 1

I'm just trying to Alright.

53:40Speaker 7

Manage. And I

53:42Speaker 3

guess when does pay for that. Right? When does pay for that? For.

53:47Speaker 2

Yes. We're not paying.

53:49Speaker 4

Can we not, like, share it with the hard group? Because hard had the whole block for themselves. No. I It could be with them. That would be really

53:59Speaker 4

And there was a lot of open space in between there.

54:03 – 54:14Speaker 6

I know that Colleen has a planned communication with the chamber on Monday. I'll I'll pass that to me so you I'll text the chamber. We got them covered on

54:14Speaker 2

all corners. Please. Thank you. Because last

54:17Speaker 1

year when we did the street party, I remember we were, like, right next to an alley, and we were able to park

54:23Speaker 3

Yes. You know? And

54:27 – 54:39Speaker 1

And, yeah, I I was That was me. I already spent it again talking with Colleen about it, and she's like, no. They won't let us park. US Bank won't let us park our truck there anymore

54:39Speaker 2

because Oh, they're gone now. Closed.

54:41Speaker 4

They're they're gone.

54:42Speaker 3

Sign over here.

54:43Speaker 2

Also, Colleen will send out the sign up sheet on Monday for that, for

54:49 – 55:05Speaker 1

you guys to sign up. Yes. There's Yes. We need, like, one more person to sign up for Shingo, you're Tom. You're there. Gwen. Yeah. But I need, like, one more person for that night.

55:06Speaker 2

I'll be there. I can.

55:07Speaker 1

Okay. Well, thank you.

55:09Speaker 6

a sales person.

55:11 – 55:35Speaker 6

Thank you. Make one just one possible recommendation for the street party. Your guys' electric vehicle, we we don't we we don't have the lights put on it yet, so it's not gonna ready for the the event that we can but it can go to the street party. So it's got a bed in the back of it. Maybe you don't need to take the trailer then. You can just take the truck. The the truck is wrapped just like this.

55:35 – 55:49Speaker 1

Know. I was just there. I was there the other day looking at the actually, me and my mom, we were in the main agency yard and looking at the beautiful new truck. But, no, I want the trailer there.

55:50Speaker 1

Good enough. Sorry.

55:51Speaker 6

No. You don't

55:51Speaker 3

have to apologize.

55:52Speaker 6

I'm trying to save you some space, but all good enough for me.

55:55Speaker 1

Yeah. No. We need the trailer.

55:58 – 56:16Speaker 1

Because of the tent the tent that's in the back, and, like, we're gonna wheel that out and put that yeah. We need the we need the But yes. Okay. That leads to, actually, yeah. When are we gonna be able to have the truck?

56:17 – 56:52Speaker 6

For sure for for sure by the next event after this, we're we're having we're having like I said, that this truck was not ordered for Keep Air. We're cleaning green. It was ordered for something else. We have weight issues. We're skirting. Recommended uses in GVWRs. Will be ready within probably thirty days. What's g d Gross total gross vehicle weight. Oh. The trailer weight of the Oh. Trailer weight and tongue weight of the trailer attached to it, it's it's been more it's it's been more work and more effort than I ever thought I put into a trunk and a trailer.

56:52Speaker 1

Dang it. Okay.

56:53Speaker 6

But it's just it's just one of those things. But by thirty days, we'll be ready for you guys for sure.

56:59Speaker 1

And then, basically, I think Sergei was interested in, you know, getting a sort of

57:08 – 57:29Speaker 6

Some driver training? CVS. Just Training for the Email email Colleen or whatever or Armando or myself. Mean Whenever you can come to yeah. You guys come to the yard. It's in the yard almost. It's there every day. The lighting that we're putting on, we're gonna do it in house, so it's not gonna go out somewhere. So just just let us know you're coming a day in advance. We'll make it.

57:31 – 57:44Speaker 1

Yeah. Survey and me. Okay. So okay. Because, yeah, that AV truck is it's pretty awesome.

57:46Speaker 2

Okay. There's nothing And that is the Hayward Executive Airport Open House.

57:51Speaker 1

Yeah. Okay. So that's a little bit a ways away, but, hopefully, people will want to be a part of that one as well.

58:03Speaker 3

But we decide to as a team, we are not going to enforce. Right?

58:07Speaker 2

What's that?

58:08 – 58:21Speaker 3

Before or we will go right now to air short. It's the last year. This trailer Wait. What? Airshort event. Yes.

58:21Speaker 1

We're still signed up for that.

58:24Speaker 3

So we are taking things from last year, or we'll do later in the day this Karina and her team? They will stay as.

58:38Speaker 1

Commission. The trailer.

58:42Speaker 2

You mean going with the maintenance services?

58:45Speaker 2

No. I think you're gonna have your stand alone like you guys did in

58:48Speaker 6

Last year. Past. Yeah.

58:49Speaker 4

Okay. Separate.

58:53Speaker 3

George, yes. Thank you.

58:57Speaker 5

a stand alone.

58:59Speaker 2

I'm you gotta stand alone. Yeah. You can understand. I think you guys stand up very much. Yeah. Because we you were you were on the first or second row.

59:07Speaker 5

Yeah. We were the yeah. We were

59:09Speaker 2

And we were, like, the third or fourth. Yeah.

59:11Speaker 3

He was in a corner, and there was, like

59:14Speaker 4

Yes. It worked out because everybody was coming in. They saw us as they came in.

59:20 – 59:36Speaker 2

And as you guys know, that is a large event. Yeah. Mhmm. That that has a lot of a lot of potential for your education and your your adoptive block and all that stuff that is prime a prime event

59:36 – 59:51Speaker 1

for you guys. Like, it's that that event actually I need to it. Like, all hands on deck. Like, we need everybody there because, yeah, it's huge. Yeah. She knows. I know.

59:52Speaker 2

Yes. I know. You guys

59:54 – 1:00:05Speaker 1

are being moved to B Street. You guys are on B Street. Get that. Really? Okay. Oh, how did you figure that out really fast?

1:00:05Speaker 2

Because that's where the band's playing. Miss Chase. Is that great? I

1:00:11Speaker 1

loved her answer. Did did you hear what her answer was?

1:00:16Speaker 2

Exactly the band. The band's playing. Oh,

1:00:21Speaker 1

That was brilliant. The next

1:00:26Speaker 6

thing on agenda is beautiful yard contest for December. I don't know if you need to cover that today or not.

1:00:31Speaker 1

Yes. We do. We're gonna eat pictures. We

1:00:38 – 1:00:51Speaker 3

I got nothing from you to be on. I know. I'm gonna Okay. I don't need to meal. Yeah. I got five. I just got, like, ten minutes ago, It will bring us to amazing total number 10.

1:00:51Speaker 1

Oh. Oh, okay.

1:00:52Speaker 3

That's But I'm expecting at least 20. Okay.

1:00:55Speaker 4

So you will send me tonight. I will send it tonight at five.

1:00:58Speaker 1

I got two more survey as well. Oh, that I sent you three.

1:01:02Speaker 6

Fifteen. Yes. So three. There's 20. You're in a.

1:01:05Speaker 1

We're in a. I'll submit five. So we're not sending sending yards.

1:01:13Speaker 1

Who else on this commission is not sending yarns?

1:01:23Speaker 1

I'm like, keep them coming, Bovie, that's excellent. You got, what, 10?

1:01:29Speaker 5

Yes. 20 now. No.

1:01:32Speaker 1

It's worth 20.

1:01:33Speaker 3

So 7 no. $7.07. Officially, I submit to Karim. I just got three more today. I wish

1:01:42Speaker 4

I could submit to 5. 15.

1:01:44Speaker 3

If you give me five,

1:01:45Speaker 1

give me 15. 17. Honey.

1:01:48Speaker 2

I sent 2. 20. I've been 2. 20. 2. 18. He's 17.

1:01:53Speaker 5

It's also easy. Right?

1:01:55Speaker 1

George. Let me send two.

1:01:56Speaker 3

George. I know what you're thinking.

1:01:59 – 1:02:32Speaker 1

This is the thing, though, about the beautiful yard contest thing is that the minute that you guys send in to Sergei and then to Colleen, Colleen has to then notify the homeowners that they've been nominated, and that takes some time. And so we are all so far behind on this whole system. Like, can can we do businesses too, or is it only houses?

1:02:32Speaker 3

I like to do businesses, but we are

1:02:35Speaker 1

They really have a good

1:02:36Speaker 3

We didn't make the decision. Okay. Because it's what I really want to do businesses and and HOAs. Okay.

1:02:43Speaker 1

No HOA. No. No. No.

1:02:44 – 1:02:58Speaker 3

I think it's not doing HOA, but businesses, like, you know, seven Eleven gas station, I really want it, but probably it's, like, it's a little bit hard to compare them. Uh-huh. But we can do, like, It's what

1:02:58Speaker 1

I Yeah. Hopefully,

1:02:59 – 1:03:28Speaker 3

we can do next year. I think we because businesses is really is really it's it's better than front yards. Okay. Because it it will push people to clean. Mhmm. Okay. And most of the garbage is if you see it Yeah. Dumping, it's like gas station. I see a lot of people, they step out of office and cleaning. And I know, like, when they're driving missions, some of them put a really nice, like, blooms and something. So Yeah. So that's it's great idea. It's what I was thinking for. Maybe. Yeah. Okay.

1:03:29Speaker 6

I'm gonna I'm gonna apologize for not knowing. Have have we has anybody ever nominated a multifamily place?

1:03:35Speaker 3

No. This one this one other question because we need to understand, can we do that? Because we cannot do HOA. Can we do multi tenant? If we can do, how?

1:03:45 – 1:03:57Speaker 6

I I I would I the reason I asked the question is, Plythe and I were talking about illegal dumping earlier. We have a lot of problems with multifamily places, so if there are places that set the example oh, yeah. Yep. I mean, I lean that way

1:03:58Speaker 6

I lean into a business.

1:03:59 – 1:04:11Speaker 3

I love to do it because I I want to turn it beautifulyardcom contest from, like, beauty to instrument to keep garbage out of streets. Yeah. Mhmm.

1:04:12Speaker 2

Okay. So multifamily? Yeah. Multifamily. Next

1:04:16Speaker 3

year, maybe? Multifamily and business.

1:04:18 – 1:04:49Speaker 1

That idea. I definitely love the idea. But for God's sakes, we are not we are too late when I am talking about, me communicating with Colleen who has to send out the notifications to the the people the residences that we are nominating. You know? We're just this little team is nominating. Colleen's She

1:04:49Speaker 6

had told me she needs everything by end of next week. Drop dead.

1:04:52 – 1:05:04Speaker 1

So Yeah. Part deadline. This is why this is why I'm so Part deadline now. But we all knew about this. I told you guys about this the beginning of this year.

1:05:04Speaker 2

In March, we started

1:05:05 – 1:05:32Speaker 1

discussing this. And who hasn't it took me months to submit a couple of homes to Sergei. We needed to be on this actually, just start looking around in January for God's sakes. Start looking around. When you're driving around in your communities and look for a home that We're all smart.

1:05:33 – 1:06:10Speaker 1

We can look at the what the qualifications are for, a beautiful yard. And that is what I'm saying. This is it's getting to be too late even. I know this is a hard deadline now for Colleen. That is our staff member that worked her butt off for this particular commission, and she needed that information way earlier. My boarder. Any My boarder. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. It's just we can do a better job.

1:06:10 – 1:06:52Speaker 2

So what what I would ask is our deadlines for the nominees to approve the the nomination is September 15. So I would ask that I know Tom, you said you're gonna have some tonight. Other people mentioned. If you guys can have those Yeah. Could start sending out the notifications on Monday, and then I can help her with whatever she needs. Because you guys also need to deliver your yard signs also. So once we can do that and vote on things, it will take us a little a little bit to get everything in. So if you guys can have those to us over the weekend, I will hook Colleen starting Monday so we can get the ball rolling on notifying people.

1:06:53 – 1:07:34Speaker 3

Yeah. Because last year, what happened, Colleen sent me mail, and then we didn't get much response. So ask you, and we send it again. So we need this buffer time because people like, I don't know when I got it. They open it. It's, like, real you know, people not really understand. So when I'm, like, when I'm getting houses, I'm trying to talk to people, but we're agreement with them. If you guys uncomfortable, don't do that. K? If you're uncomfortable, talk to them. It's fine. Just take a picture and send it to me. Because I'm talking to them. We have a flyer, and it's more information so they can send email directly to Karim. But if you're not uncomfortable, don't do that.

1:07:34 – 1:08:16Speaker 3

I don't want you to feel kind of bad. So just do your best. Just take one, two pictures, three pictures. It doesn't matter. Take something. Give us the addresses. And if people start talking to us back, I will go take more take more pictures. It's not a problem. I just need all of you to help me out because if I just do pictures myself, it's we will be kinda I don't know. It's not really a purpose of this event. So it's kinda team event, and we need to kinda promote this idea so people will take care about it doesn't matter how fast is their plans. It's more like clean, no debris. And we try to to push people to be kinda owners of their streets.

1:08:19 – 1:08:39Speaker 4

So, yeah, the flyers really work well. When I talk to people, they're, like, really shocked. Like, they already got the award with the flyer. So they're very happy if I explain everything, and I tell them to call Colleen or email her. So they're very excited. So the three people I was talking to, but they're

1:08:39Speaker 6

very excited.

1:08:40Speaker 4

So having those sliders really helps with all the info.

1:08:43Speaker 3

Delivery sign, don't worry. I will do same as last year. It's not a problem.

1:08:47Speaker 2

And the signs are the ones for the yards that are that have accepted. Just let you guys know.

1:08:52 – 1:09:22Speaker 3

Yes. Yes. Yes. So I'll do same as the last year. We'll get from all the signs. I'll go to people, move to the door, give the sign, take a picture. The season part. As soon as they accept the decision, they just need to do step one, get people, send the mails. If there is the response is great. If not, they'll send that again. And then as soon as everything's in place, and I will tell it that it's not a problem.

1:09:22 – 1:09:42Speaker 2

So Colleen said if you guys can give her all the nominations by the end of next week, she will have everything ready for you guys and the acceptance letters and everything so you guys can vote. Yep. But if it's not by the end of next week, she will have to turn them down for any of your suggestions.

1:09:43Speaker 2

So the sooner, the better. But just so we can move on to the next thing by the end of next week.

1:09:49 – 1:10:20Speaker 3

Yeah. So I I thought I that we should test today if you have samples submitted. I got three. I will send it to Azuba 10. Somebody For me, like, five more. Two more. And I hope Angela will send me two more Azulaban 20. For last year, we got, like, 23, 24. So and as soon as next year, all the health and social will push to small businesses,

1:10:21 – 1:10:41Speaker 2

like. There could be issues with businesses and complexes like multifamily homes. So Soli had said that we would have to check with that Legal. To see if if that would be an option for you guys, and she will check on that and and update guys once she has an answer.

1:10:41 – 1:11:20Speaker 3

Yeah. Because before, we have idea with and we just we cannot go. So this is case multitenant. Could look same as normally. So We'll look into it. Yeah. A small business is slightly different. We can approach, like, owners and don't take any pictures before. So we just need to get some guidance, and it's not really good because, small businesses is pretty much it it's the base of the country. So as soon as they're on board with us and start cleaning again, city probably helps them with something, and they will help us back. So as soon as it's a great idea.

1:11:21Speaker 6

Very good. Thank Thank you guys for your feedback. For two announcements and updates, council member update, I think, is next.

1:11:29 – 1:12:13Speaker 1

Alright. It's you. Downtown action plan. Just wanna let you know that the maintenance portion, I believe, is all done. Pressure washing, cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, That's right. Yeah. There will be a meeting on Vax Regis Village. Vax is a facility downtown. If you have questions or concerns or comments about the Regis Village, that's it's a mental health drug treatment facility, about 200 beds. It's gonna be at the library, August 16 from two to three.

1:12:13 – 1:12:29Speaker 1

So if you have any questions, you can talk to community services or VACS in the county. We'll do their monument signs, Jackson Street. You guys already seen that? Do they I'm sorry. The monument sign, Jackson Street. Yeah.

1:12:29Speaker 6

I haven't I haven't brought a recent picture. But it's looking good. Right? It's looking good. We're It's

1:12:34Speaker 1

like a water fountain or a big windscreen.

1:12:36Speaker 6

Yeah. It's where the water fountain used to be. It'll be done in

1:12:40 – 1:13:23Speaker 1

three to four weeks. Something that's exciting. We're back from recess. We were working. We just weren't meeting. Just wanted to clarify. We're all doing work, just not meeting. We're August 19, and Downtown Street Primary, already talked about dumping day. I did miss last time, but I hear it's always oversubscribed. So good job with dumping day. Your next one is not this month, but next month? October. Oh, October? Okay. Great. So, October. And then I do wanna know the status of our youth commissioner. So probably ask that or someone. Who at the? Miriam?

1:13:23 – 1:14:06Speaker 1

Okay. I asked Miriam about regular attendance from our youth commissioner interviews. We have about 23 applicants for the Clean and Green Commission. A few of them ranked law number one, so that's exciting. So we're anticipating interviews August 26. I made a note of literati, so I'll follow-up with the sustainability commissioner of public works there. And I think that's it. I think that's all I have for right right now. Anyone have any questions for me? Yes. I do. Yes. Yes. So wait. 23 people have They 23 is either acknowledged you or interested.

1:14:06 – 1:14:21Speaker 1

Yes. And sorry. When are the interviews again? The twenty sixth. So Yeah. So roughly around it. That's exciting. So and a few of them are just number one, so that's exciting.

1:14:23Speaker 1

Alright. Thank you. I have a question.

1:14:26Speaker 6

The drug, place that you mentioned, is that the you said Regency?

1:14:31 – 1:15:12Speaker 1

Yep. Regis. Quarter? I'm sorry. Regis Village. So Saint it's formerly Saint Regis. So it's a facility for seniors, I believe. Four kids. It's like Yep. Down It's right on the corner of Jackson And Mission. Right? Yep. Yep. The one downtown. Okay. Okay. Good. Yeah. So I actually I signed up to go to that community session on sixteenth. Two 2PM. You can sign up. Mainly because the city of Hayward did have the over on Depot Road, the

1:15:13 – 1:15:57Speaker 1

What's it called? The Navigation center. Navigation center. And I'm at first, I thought, oh, crap. They're closing that, and then the city of Hayward's not doing anything with that. No. Our lovely city of Hayward is now moving that old system to Saint what was yes. It was a senior center, I think. And then now it's gonna be a massive facility to help our houseless people move into more permanent housing systems. And I I again, I'm, like, so proud of Hayward. Like, that's awesome that that the city is doing that.

1:15:58Speaker 2

So when is that open? It's already open. It's open already?

1:16:02Speaker 1

Yeah. Okay. Is it is it at capacity? It's not at capacity yet.

1:16:05Speaker 6

Okay. Part of it's part of it's under construction. Part of it's open. It's they've got a lot going on. They came and presented to a staff group today.

1:16:14 – 1:16:44Speaker 1

Unfortunately, there's probably a lot of folks that aren't really happy about that particular situation, but I am I'm I'm happy about it. And I'm very proud of Hayward for for doing that, for providing that that kind of, help to our community members that need help, mental health and homeless, houseless help. So pretty pretty cool. Alright. Anything That's No?

1:16:44 – 1:17:27Speaker 6

I'll give you my staff update. First, Colleen sends her apology. She had a death in the family. So she's she's been out of office for a couple of days. And I will share also previous streets manager, John Sanders, her husband, in his first week of retirement, broke his foot Jeez. And is now under care of an orthopedic surgeon preparing for surgery. They have a lot going on. My last update is I introduced Armando as our interim streets manager last month. He was appointed to the position permanent a couple weeks ago. So we'll go Armando Armando will be the ongoing point of contact for task force day to day stuff.

1:17:27Speaker 6

Do the same things that John does did, Rod did, everything else. So congratulations to Armando. Thank you, guys. Rod is good. Rod's happy he doesn't have to come on Thursday nights. He's

1:17:39Speaker 1

he's good. Gonna

1:17:41Speaker 1

to take the acting off your sign.

1:17:42Speaker 4

Yeah. I just noticed that when I walked.

1:17:44Speaker 2

Thanks, Yeah. Yeah.

1:17:48Speaker 6

So that's all I have for the staff update.

1:17:50Speaker 2

No problem. That's all about it. Do

1:17:54 – 1:18:06Speaker 4

you have something? I think last meeting, you guys bought a public art on the Big Valley trash cans. Yeah. I reached out to a couple cities, and I'm working closely with Public Works to try to get some wrapped in the downtown area.

1:18:08 – 1:18:19Speaker 6

City of Conquered. Concord. I saw some pictures of City of Concord, some really cool artwork on their big belly cans. I mean, pretty cool idea. Actually, very affordable. Cool.

1:18:19 – 1:18:31Speaker 3

Yeah. Angel, do you remember this was really talented artist? She's living in Castro Valley. She did a lot of murals. Do you remember? I know Jeff Jeff know her.

1:18:31Speaker 1

Susan? You come to Suzanne? Uh-huh.

1:18:33Speaker 3

Suzanne. Yeah.

1:18:35Speaker 7

Suzanne Gail. She's still praying. And we yeah. We haven't haven't our. It's been a few months since I've

1:18:45Speaker 2

talked to her. Well, they had

1:18:46Speaker 1

an off call for the big belly a while ago. We didn't get a lot of responses, I think. At least DHIA did. So they're going this way. Other

1:18:59Speaker 6

than that, chair, I guess, updates, and then you can pound the gavel and hand it back to you.

1:19:05 – 1:19:17Speaker 1

Okay. Well, Armando, I wanted to recognize that I think you took care of our hand truck on our lunch.

1:19:17Speaker 2

Oh, yes. Yes.

1:19:18Speaker 1

That's our Some of our lovely members here, they're like, oh, the tires were flat. Yeah.

1:19:23Speaker 2

Yeah. No. It's a bear.

1:19:24 – 1:19:58Speaker 1

So thank you so much for taking care of that. Appreciate it. So our tires will be in full. Anyway, thank you so much. Keep that. So, chair updates. Nope. I don't really have any I think I think I've covered it all. Thanks to everybody here. I think they covered the whole whole gamut.

1:19:58 – 1:20:16Speaker 1

You know what we need to do, and happy that we're gonna be at the downtown street party and hopefully be able to hear ourselves think. So meeting adjourned at 08:23.

1:20:18Speaker 6

See everybody at the

1:20:19Speaker 2

street party.
